2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe-3LT

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is the seventh generation (C7) of the Corvette lineage. For the C7 era, Chevrolet wanted a game changer! It had to be something that would keep the purists happy, while also sparking a bread of new buyers. And believe me, they have done just that! The new Stingray has shed its old skin, and now competes on many of the same levels as the world’s most highly regarded sports cars! However, it accomplishes so much while continuing to maintain a relatively low bargain price! For example, you could buy a brand new Ferrari 458, or you could buy a new Stingray Coupe and Convertible, while also building a house with central air and a walk out basement to hold them! Now tell me, what color do you want your kitchen?

With so many drastic changes for the new Stingray as a whole, it was only right for Chevrolet to set aside the old LS motor everyone has become so familiar with for something all new. The 2014 Stingray boasts a beautiful LT1 6.2-liter V-8 that cranks out 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque! Mounted up to a bulletproof 7 speed manual transmission; what you get is a recipe for some serious excitement! The new Corvette definitely earns the revival of its fabled Stingray badge!

Hagerty kicks back with Ringbrothers for a look at the Recoil

Sat, May 2 2015

Over the years, Ringbrothers has shown the ability to mix a meticulous eye for style and serious amounts of horsepower with customs like the Pantera-based Adrnln. The company's recent project, a tuned 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle called Recoil, is some of its best work yet and already has Jay Leno's denim-clad stamp of approval. Now, Hagerty is taking a look, while digging into the history of the actual Ring brothers: Mike and Jim. The two guys grew up in a small town where owning a car was practically a necessity, and the brothers were already wrenching before they could even legally drive. Eventually, that passion grew into a business, which led to wonderfully customized performance vehicles like the Recoil. Hagerty gets a fascinating look into Ringbrothers tuning philosophy in its interview. Of course, the real interest lies in this custom Chevelle, and there's a chance to hear the absolutely ferocious sound from the Recoil's supercharged V8 in this clip.

Chevy ramps up development of Bolt EV

Thu, Jun 25 2015

The Bolt is on the move, and Chevy confirmed Wednesday it is testing more than 50 prototypes as it prepares to launch the electric vehicle in 2017. We've already seen the photographic evidence in these spy shots, but Chevy released its own images and the above video as further proof that the EV remains on track toward production. Chevy revealed the Bolt as a concept in January at the Detroit Auto Show, promising a range of 200 miles on electricity with a price tag of about $30,000 after possible incentives. The prototypes are being hand-built and tested at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, MI, and other global locations. "Effectively these are the bones of the car that's going to be the production Chevy Bolt," said Josh Tavel, the car's chief engineer. Chevy is testing the Bolt in all areas of vehicle competence, including ride and handling dynamics, cabin comfort, quietness, charging capability, and energy efficiency. More than 1,000 engineers are working on the program. "We really wanted to convey the notion that this is running fast. It's happening," said Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer of electrified vehicles. The Bolt will be built at GM's Orion Assembly plant north of Detroit and sold in all 50 states. It's part of the automaker's electric car blitz that includes the plugin hybrid Volt, the traditional (non-plugin) Malibu hybrid, and confirmation of plans to expand sales of the Spark EV to Canada and Maryland. GM drops price of Spark EV to $25,995; lease to $139/month

Tue, Apr 14 2015

The drive to lower EV prices continues. GM announced today that the base model 2015 Chevy Spark EV 1LT would get a price cut to $25,995. That's $1,500 less than it used to be but the bigger news might be the lowered lease price. Instead of $199 a month, all that Chevy is asking for to get you into an all-electric Spark now is $139 a month (39 months, with no money due at signing), down from the 36-month, $199-a-month lease cost with a $999 down payment. Sadly, the number of states where the Spark EV can be bought is almost as small as the lease payment: the car is available only in California, Oregon and Maryland (well, Maryland won't be ready until the summer). GM is doing more than just lowering the MSRP. On top of the federal and state tax incentives available, GM is offering bonus cash in all three states ($1,000 in California, $1,200 in Maryland, and $3,500 in Oregon). If you're wondering why those numbers vary so much, take a look at the already-available state EV incentives in play: California offers $2,500 and Maryland $2,300. Somehow, they all balance out. If you do some addition with the $7,500 federal tax credit, you see that the Spark EV can be had for $11,000 off the MSRP no matter where you buy. If you qualify for everything, $14,995 is a darn good deal for an EV, especially one as fun as the Spark. Related Video: 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV Repriced to Offer Greater Value As low as $14,995 after full federal and state tax credits and Chevrolet Bonus Cash 2015-04-14 DETROIT – Chevrolet announced today Spark EV 1LT's new manufacturer's suggested retail price would start at $25,995. Depending on an individual's tax situation, the Spark EV is eligible for federal tax credit up to $7,500. "Chevrolet is committed to making EV driving more accessible, affordable and fun" said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet Car and Crossover Marketing. "The Spark EV is already the most efficient – and one of the most affordable – EVs you can buy. 2015 Spark EV customers will benefit from an impressive blend of technology, capability and low cost of ownership, now at an even more impressive price." California and Maryland Spark EV owners may also qualify for a $2,500 California state rebate or $2,300 Maryland excise tax exemption. Additional Chevrolet bonus cash is also available: $1,000 in California, $1,200 in Maryland, and $3,500 in Oregon. After full federal and state tax credits and Chevrolet bonus cash, the Spark EV could be as low as $14,995.
