For almost twenty years, this 1969 Camaro was a build dream for a local resident that wanted a Pro-Touring Fuel
Injected show car. I first learned of this Camaro about two years ago. It was at the upholstery shop having it's
entire interior restored. The upholsterer Ernie, took me over to show me the car. Lifted the hood and gave me a
peek. Everyone loves to see a Fuel Injected LT1 conversion with a700R4 automatic transmission as a modernized
pro-touring build and i was no different. Then he told me about his client and the car. The owner bought it years
before and finally decided to pour his money into the pro-touring build. Best of all, he started with a car that
had ZERO body damage, no rust, no rot, no previous wrecks of any kind, all straight metal. Then took it and had the
body removed from the frame and media blasted to bare metal, paint finished in the white, had the suspension
completely renewed, interior restored and dropped in the (1995) LT1 fuel injected 350 with a 700R4 4 peed automatic
behind it. Two years in the making and was about to do some finishing touches and had some personal issues that
brought his project to a halt. We were offered an opportunity to acquire the car and I jumped at it. What did we
do? . . .
For the most part, we just tidied up what needed to be finished. The car was all white, too much for my taste and
the black stripes just seemed to be a nice fit for this car. All my employees agreed on the look and we finished
the stripes with clear coat added for a smooth finish. The front valance needed to be there, then the wheels,
nearly took me 9 months to wait for the Year One dealer of the 18" wheels to show up, but they just make the car
look so good. One area that need to be addressed was the wiring system, the onboard computer for the LS1 and all
the lights and gauges to work. So we redid the wiring. The original car had air conditioning as you will see and
the LS1 has the compressor already there, but we are not AC guys, so someone who wants that connection to happen
can figure out how to make that combination work, the components are there though. Most important, the metal is all
original to the car, there no evidence of rust anywhere, no evidence of prior damage repair or issues anywhere on
the body. Best of all, you get in, flip the key and vroom, she starts like a modern car, drives like one too. Has
great power, incredible stance and overall just looks like new everywhere you look. Take a good look at the
presentation of pictures that will show you this car top to bottom and if you are looking for a pro-touring car
that really embodies the original 1969 style, this car will be sure to please.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs Big Three-Row Crossovers | Spec comparison

Fri, Jan 8 2021

The three-row 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is here, entering an ever-growing segment of big crossovers that Jeep has ignored since the Commander of the late 2000s. Of course, the Dodge Durango has basically been a three-row version of the current Grand Cherokee with Dodge styling and a different interior, so it's not like The Corporate Entity Formerly Known as Chrysler has been without a contender in the segment. Jeep is a stronger brand than Dodge, however, and the three-row midsize segment is stronger than those with two rows (there's a vast sales difference between the Chevrolet Traverse and Blazer, as well as the Honda Pilot and Passport). In other words, the Grand Cherokee L could be a very big deal. It is also, quite literally, a very big deal. As you're about to see, it is now the largest three-row crossover, besting the length, wheelbase and height of even the gargantuan Traverse. There's more to the story than that, however, so we put together the below comparison chart to show you how the new Grand Cherokee L lines up on paper versus the biggest three-row crossovers. That includes the 2021 Ford Explorer, 2021 Kia Telluride, 2021 Hyundai Palisade and 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. This group also represents some of the strongest entries in the segment as well as those we feel are most likely to be considered alongside the big Jeep. To that end, we also included the 2021 Lincoln Aviator in the chart since its base price is actually less than what we anticipate the luxurious, range-topping Grand Cherokee L Overland and Summit trim levels to start.  Engines and drivetrains Note the differences in curb weight here. The Grand Cherokee L has the highest base curb weight of the group apart from the high-lux Aviator, yet its 3.6-liter V6 has the least amount of power and torque. Therefore, it'll be surprising if it's not the slowest in the group. There's of course the Hemi V8 available on the top Overland and Summit trim levels, but again, a hefty curb weight works against it. At 5,330 pounds, the lightest V8-powered JGCL weighs 600 pounds more than V6-power Explorer Platinum and ST models. On the other hand, nothing can touch the Hemi Jeep's towing capacity, and only the 400-hp Aviator betters the Jeep's base V6. Its 6,200-pound towing capacity greatly outdoes the 5,000-pound limits of not only the Telluride, Palisade and Traverse, but most others in the segment as well.

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado

Sat, Oct 9 2021

During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!

Recharge Wrap-up: BMW cars to share i tech, Jordan to build solar EV charging network

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Jordan is looking to promote EVs and build a solar charging network. The country is waiving import tariffs on electric cars, and is spending $120 million on solar chargers. It plans to build 3,000 charging stations, along with 30 MW of solar power. Some chargers will be powered by solar canopies, while others will get electricity from nearby solar farms. Jordan's solar plan should also help to lessen the amount of energy it needs to import from nearby countries. Read more from Navigant Research, or at Green Car Reports. BMW's mainstream cars will benefit from technology borrowed from the i3 and i8, according to BMW sales head Ian Robertson. In an interview with Automotive News, Robertson said that next-generation cars will use carbon fiber more extensively, and that more cars will get plug-in technology. He said that about half of i3 buyers opt for the range extender and added that it is incorrect to refer to a range-extended electric vehicle as a plug-in hybrid. Read more at Automotive News. The ethanol market should remain healthy despite falling oil prices. While cheap oil could drive down ethanol prices, demand still remains due to the federal biofuels standard. Additionally, ethanol producers may find it cheaper to ship their products as domestic oil production drops and railroad shipping opens up. Ethanol byproducts like distillers grains continue to sell, and foreign demand continues as other countries impose their own renewable fuel standards. Read more at Yahoo News. Via Motors will launch the production of an electric Chevrolet Silverado. The company will convert the pickups into range-extended EVs at its assembly line in Mexico, near GM's Silverado plant. Via has the capacity to produce 10,000 vehicles per year at its Mexico facility. Via Motors Chairman (and former GM Vice Chairman during the early days of the Chevrolet Volt project) Bob Lutz wants to help make EVs mainstream in America, and believes that requires electrifying pickups and SUVs.
