PLEASE READ MY ENTIRE DESCRIPTION. I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS.

Up for sale is a 1968 Camaro RS/SS clone convertible. It was originally a 6cylinder/Powerglide car. It is a real J2 paint code car which is Rally Green with a Black top. Rally Green was introduced late in the 68 model production year. Interior code is 712 which is a standard Black interior.

I bought this car this Spring as a running & driving car. I have purchased a 2012 Camaro 2SS convertible a couple of weeks ago & am now selling this car.

This car was mostly redone within the last decade. The following has been done to the body: floor & trunk replaced with one piece units; new quarters, fenders & door skins, trunk lid & rear lower valance. Rockers have been repaired with new metal. The SS hood looks to have been dented between the vents & has been pounded out & body puttied. Inside of trunk looks really good & has new mat. The following chrome & trim has been replaced with new: bumpers, taillight bezels, door handles, header panel & trunk lid Camaro emblems, front RS turn signal assemblies, all 4 side marker light assemblies, all 4 wheel well opening moulding, upper windshield stainless & RS Grill assembly. The front SS emblem & the SS gas cap are new. SS vents on hood appear to be original but are good driver quality. I installed new outside mirrors on both doors (not with cheap $14.99 Taiwan mirrors but the highest quality $52.99 ones). I have a new front chin spoiler with new support rods, also.

The convertible top is new as is the front header bow, top well & rear window. All the weatherstripping on the car is new. I did not get the 'A' pillar weatherstrips & the strip between the side windows when I bought the car but have since purchased them. They still need to be installed. The top goes up & down effortlessly.

The seat covers & door panels look to be original. The seats are in real good shape and the door panels are decent driver quality but I would eventually replace them. The carpet & dash pad appear new.

The engine is a 350 with casting number 3970014. Heads are casting number 333882. There are Comp Cams Magnum roller rockers & I was told a 270H Magnum camshaft in the engine. The engine pulls 10" vacuum at idle & sounds good. There is a Weiand dual plane aluminum intake on it & I just put a brand new Holley 670 cfm Street Avenger carb on it because I couldn't get the Edelbrock 750 cfm Performer to run right. The Holley has vacuum secondaries & an electric choke & works perfectly. I also just installed custom-fit Accel 8mm plug wires, Sickspeed wire seperators & Accel 'Shorty' spark plugs. There are headers on the car with 2 1/2" exhaust going into Flowmaster mufflers for that musclecar sound. Tailpipes exit under the back bumper. When I bought the car the radiator & all hoses were new & I bought & installed the factory Camaro style radiator shroud & bracket. There is a clutch fan mounted to the water pump to keep the car cool. The transmission is a TH400 that has been gone through & has a shift improver kit installed. It is hooked up to the factory column shifter. The driveshaft has new u-joints & is hooked up to a 3.73 12-bolt posi rear end. The rear end has been rebuilt by the previous owner & the leaf springs, shackle kit & bushings are new. All 4 shocks have also been replaced. The ball joints & tie-rods have been replaced. The previous owner installed a Stainless Steel Brake Corporation manual disc brake kit with a new master cylinder on the car but the front end was too high for my liking so I purchased & installed 2 inch drop spindles. I will have a front end alignment done on the car by the end of this week to make sure everything is running true.

I just installed a SunPro 3-gauge kit under the center of the dash to keep track of the engine. Oil pressure reads just under 60 lbs at start-up & when warmed up runs around 25 at idle. Temp didn't get past 190 degrees & voltage is just over 13 volts when running.

All of the brake, transmission & fuel lines are new and so is the gas tank & filler neck. Looking at the window tracks for the side windows they all appear to have been replaced or rebuilt as does the driver side door latch. The passenger side door latch appears to be new.

The side glass is good & the windshield is new. The window fuzzies have also been replaced.

The wheels on the car are American Racing Torque Thrust II's & are 17x8 on front & 18x10 on the rear with Toyo Proxes tires. I just put new lug nuts on all 4 wheels & polished the wheels while they were off the car.

I have been driving this car while I have been working on it but it still needs a few things completed. The side windows need to be adjusted. The RS Grill was installed but none of the vacuum headlight door actuator pieces came with the car so you have to manually open the doors for night driving. I bought a Detroit Speed & Engineering electronic headlight door kit (expensive but far superior to the factory vacuum operators) that is still in the box & needs to be installed. I bought the rear backup light kits & they also need to be installed. I have a new 2" steel cowl hood for the car that I was going to install to replace the SS hood. All these extras are included with the car.

Keep in mind that this is not a perfect show car but with a little time & effort it very well could be & you won't be 'breaking the bank' to get it there.

There has been ALOT of money & effort spent on this car, way more than what I am asking. The car is currently appraised & insured for $25,000. I have a clear Illinois title in my name with no loans so the car is available immediately if paid for with CASH. I will take a Cashiers Check or Money Order for payment but it takes 7-10 working days for the funds to clear. I WILL NOT let the car go anywhere until funds have cleared the bank. If you wish to pay with Cashiers Check or Money Order, after I receive payment I will not drive the car and will keep it insured & locked up in my garage until you come to get the car. After funds have cleared I would like it picked up within 2 weeks. If something happens & you can't pick it up within 2 weeks please call me & we can work something out. I am pretty easy to get along with.

I know I got pretty long winded with my description but I figure if you are going to travel to look at a car there is never too much information. If I have forgotten something please call me at 563-212-4493. If I don't answer please leave a call back number & I will call back ASAP.

I have sold cars before on eBay & have NEVER had any problems as can be seen by my 100% perfect feedback & will do everything I can on my side to make the transaction as easy as I can.

   Thanks for looking! Randy

  P.S.

I would possibly take a partial trade & cash my way for this car as long as the vehicle you are trading is a Chevy. If you have a Chevy Hot Rod/Muscle Car that is 1972 or older I may be interested in a trade plus cash my way. I would like to have a 1969 Camaro or 1966-1972 Nova. Give me a call & we'll discuss it. Thanks.

I have had a lot of questions about the reserve price on my car. To make it fair for everyone I will not reveal the reserve but will say that it is way below the cars' appraisal of $25,000 & less than what I have invested in the car. Thanks for all the inquiries & if you have any questions about the car please ask now instead of waiting until the end of the auction. You can call or text me at 563-212-4493. Thanks, Randy.

Chevrolet Malibu could last until 2024 before joining the dodo

Wed, Jul 31 2019

Automotive News pieced together all available intel on the Chevrolet and GMC lineups, trying to ascertain how much life each model might have left. Concerning the Chevrolet Malibu, the answer is not too much, and the historic nameplate's final years don't look like the glory kind. After a major overhaul in 2016 boosted sales for the ninth-generation sedan to 227,881 units, the 2018 sales fell to 144,542, and this year's are down almost 15% through the end of June. The Malibu is one of two Chevrolet sedans still breathing - the other being the Impala for now - but only for about five more years. AN says there'll likely be a refresh in 2022, followed by a visit from the Reaper in 2024. After that, it could be "indirectly replaced" by an electric vehicle, one of the 23 EVs that GM is working on for 2023.     The Impala will meet the ax earlier despite a recent stay of execution. Production is still set to close in January 2020. In the entire GM stable, Cadillac might soon be the only marque with sedans. The Buick LaCrosse has a date with death, and Groupe PSA won't supply Opels-as-Regals forever.  The Sonic hatchback should say goodbye at the end of 2020, a year before the seemingly eternal Spark is thought to die. Two years after that, according to one report, the Camaro will go back into cold storage, perhaps forever, and AN says an "expected redesign of the car in 2021 was reportedly canceled." Finally, let's give one final shout-out to the Chevrolet Cruze, a global nameplate, which in the United States alone outsells the Malibu, outsold the Camaro by a factor of three last year, and absolutely trounces the Impala, Sonic, and Spark. Even that couldn't get a stay of execution. In more uplifting news, everything's happening on the crossover and truck side in the next few years. The Chevy Bolt is due for a refresh next year, even though it has "become more important for self-driving ride-hailing fleets that GM Cruise plans to operate than for consumers." In 2021, the Bolt-based crossover should bow, first in China, then here. It's said to look like "a mix of the Bolt and Trax" in spy shots. Still waiting for a green light: a possible subcompact GMC crossover called Granite that might make it to market by 2023. The full-sized SUV triplets Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon could show their new faces in 2020. The Silverado might get an updated interior in 2020 or 2021, while the Colorado and Canyon mid-sized pickups won't get attention until perhaps 2023.

Chevy admits there's confusion over Bolt and Volt names

Fri, Feb 20 2015

Offering the possibility of 200 miles of driving range and the potential for a price of about $30,000, the Chevrolet Bolt is an incredibly enticing vehicle, and it has an opportunity to be a big player in the EV world. However, the hatchback has been plagued by one problem since the moment it debuted – the name. Bolt sounds very similar to Volt, Chevy's extended-range plug-in, and they can be easy to confuse in a conversation. That's not the best quality to have when trying to get a new vehicle's name out there among customers, and General Motors North America president Alan Batey told the Detroit Free Press that the company is aware of the problem. While the EV is definitely going into production, the model might be wearing a different moniker when it hits showrooms. "We're still in the decision phase. It could go either way," Batey said to the Free Press. He indicated the automaker still has about a year before a final decision is necessary. The Bolt will be built at GM's Orion Assembly plant in Michigan and will likely go on sale around 2017. That will put the Chevy on the market at roughly the same time as the 200-mile Tesla Model 3. Batey didn't seem too concerned, though. "Unlike Tesla, we can spread the cost over a whole lineup," he said to the Free Press. The future doesn't look quite so bright for the Spark EV, though. Batey suggested that it might not last once the longer-range Bolt fills that niche in the lineup. Related Video:

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.
