After a search for a decent car to build I got it . That's the good news , the bad news is I lost storage and I must sell. I would rather sell then leave outside to rot. The rust is relatively decent. The floor is rusted and thin in the front and small holes in rear. You could get away front pans and patch rear I would put a full pan because to me the labor is the same. The main reason I bought this car is that the floors are stock .The doors close perfect showing the core structure is sound. Many I looked at had floors done and were out of wack . The other rust spots are a small hole in the trunk on the left center of the floor. The left rear shock mount is rotted into the trunk. The inner wells and rest of trunk are NOT rotted. The quarter panels are ok from what I can see, what I mean by that is someone had put steel wheel well flares at some point. If it is to cover rot then only wheellips are bad. I have the nose in pieces the hood is good the fenders has small rot holes on them and were blasted but not primered as were the wheel housings. I have a good rear bumper but no front. The interior consists of one seat and the interior panels all need to be redone. There are a couple of bins of parts , a bunch of chrome and 2 grills. I don't know what is there specifically. The cars front mounts are perfect as is the cowl no rot by the wiper hole ,the vin plate is excellent and untouched. There is some rust by the throttle pedal that may be higher than the floor pan reaches. I hate to sell but must ,I will answer any questions and do my best to answer any questions a buyer may have. There is no warranty or promises of any kind so please check out photos and ask to verify anything you need to know. I want a good home not rotting outside. Thanks for looking.

Mysterious white powder discovered at GM Orion Assembly

Fri, Sep 2 2016

Workers at General Motors Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township, MI uncovered a mysterious white powder in two different parts of the factory earlier this week, raising concerns about worker safety. "We can confirm that an unknown substance (white powder) was found on the floor outside of Gate 6 at Orion Assembly on Monday, August 29. On Tuesday, August 30, we had a second report of a bottle containing a similar substance found inside the plant," GM spokesperson Dayna Hart told The Oakland Press via email. GM stressed that incident didn't disrupt operations at the plant, and that the company was taking steps to ensure the safety of the sprawling factory's workers. That did include, an anonymous worker told The Oakland Press, closing off parts of the factory for two full days, as drug-sniffing dogs and crews in haz-mat suits descended on the area. "A sample of the substance has been sent to a laboratory for identification and results are expected later this week," Hart said. "All findings and actions have been shared with our employees." Orion Assembly currently builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, and will eventually be responsible for production of the new, all-electric Chevy Bolt early next year. Related Video:

Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?

Mon, Feb 9 2015

An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. Check out the 60 Minutes video on the CBS site (you can watch the entire video from a mobile device without logging in). The OnStar hacking starts at 6:45, but it's worth watching what leads up to that. News Source: Jalopnik Chevrolet Safety Technology Infotainment Autonomous Vehicles Videos Sedan hacking 60 minutes
