1983 Chevrolet K30 Short Bed Dually 4x4 on 2040-cars
Southwest, Pennsylvania, United States
|
NOTE: The truck was currently enhanced for inspection and had a new inspection sticker on it. The only reason the title shows reconstructed is because it was rebuilt into a custom truck. There is nothing wrong with the truck at all and has never been wrecked. For sale is a custom 1 ton 1983 Chevy short bed 4X4 dually. This truck used to be a wrecker until the frame was shortened up to put a six foot bed on the truck. It has a strong running big block 454 motor in it that I recently got a Weiand intake and a Holley 750 double pumper carb installed on it. The truck show 77,500 miles on the odometer but I have no proof that that is correct. Overall driving performance from the truck is impressive, and it runs very strong and never skips a beat for being about 30 years old. This truck has a 4 speed manual transmission in it with 4.56 gearing and was made for hauling or pulling. Inside the cab is in good shape for its age with the usual tear on the side of the drivers seat. Little things like the controls don't work to change the heat from the defrosters need fixed. Aftermarket CD player was installed with different speakers. Dash pad has a blue cover on it and the door panels are in good shape also with minimal fading but they need new trim work installed. The Speedometer, Voltage, and Gas Gauge all currently work. The oil pressure gauge and the water gauge work sometimes and other times they are bottomed out at zero. All of the lights outside of the truck currently work except for one of the license plate lights. High and low beams also work nicely with the switch on the floor. The floor is a vinyl mat fitted out of a newer Chevy truck so it is not original in any way. On the outside of the truck, the body had currently was painted in the newer Chevy Topaz Blue Metallic and looks pretty nice. The bed was taken off and a spot of rust on the passenger side was fixed with a small panel right behind the wheel well and there is a small crack there where the putty was. The truck comes with Bushwacker flares if you would like them because the tires stick out just a little bit because it is a cab and chassis rear end and not a wider dually rear end. In the pictures it has mud flaps on it and I have currently taken them off, but they will come with the truck too. When the bed was taken off it was wire brushed and undercoated with rubberized undercoating and is still in great shape, and comes with the bed liner. The tailgate that is on it now is black because it was the nicest one that I have and due to little time was not able to paint it. Underneath on the frame there is no rot just a little bit of surface rust starting to form on the leaf springs and on the rear end. Overall, the truck runs strong, shifts great, and pulls hard. The only mechanical problems under the hood that I know of is that there is a pinhole in the power steering hose "leaves drips in parking stall sometimes" and it needs a fan shroud. The rear end sometimes has some fluid on it but they told me it is just a gasket and it does not leak a significant amount it just sometimes leaves a few drops here and there. There are too many things to list with this truck so any questions feel free to email me. A non refundable $500.00 deposit is required after within 24 hours of the auction ending. The vehicle needs to be picked up within 5 days of the auction ending. Also the truck is for sale locally so I have the right to end the auction early if need be. Thanks for looking. |

GM patent reveals new two-stage turbocharger
Fri, Jun 24 2016Modern turbochargers may be some of the best ever made, but performance is something that engineers are always trying to improve. According to GM Inside News, General Motors (GM) is hoping to alleviate some of the negative aspects of a two-stage turbocharger setup with a newly-patented design. The patent, that was filed on May 19, 2016, reveals a clever bypass system that allows the engine, a four-cylinder unit, to optimize both the low-pressure and high-pressure inlets for its respective functions. According to the filing, a conventional two-stage turbocharger setup is engineered to allow both turbines to operate simultaneously at low and mid engine speeds. At high engine speeds, only the low-pressure turbine works. The setup can't isolate either the low or high pressure side, which can impair low-end performance. GM's new two-stage turbocharger setup looks to eliminate this by linking the high-pressure turbo to the exhaust manifold through the high-pressure inlet duct. The low-pressure turbo is attached to the high-pressure turbo by a low-pressure inlet duct, which is linked to a connecting channel. A single actuator that is housed in the exhaust manifold creates a bypass that can opens the high-pressure inlet or close the connecting channel. Depending on what the engine load and speed is, the ECU guides the actuator—a single rotating spindle with discs corresponding to flanges on the high and low pressure sides—to isolate one of the two turbos. Isolating the turbos allow the respective inlets to be engineered for the best possible fluid dynamic performance. The setup should increase performance and decrease lag. There's no word on what car this setup will make an appearance on, but it will most likely be used in premium vehicles before trickling down to the rest of GM's vehicles. Someone has already test driven the 2016 Chevy Volt
Mon, Aug 24 2015Due to some well-placed connections at General Motors Canada headquarters in Oshawa, a senior member of the gm-volt.com forum with the handle "kickincanada" got about 30 minutes behind the wheel of a 2016 Chevrolet Volt. Kickincanada owns a 2012 Volt, and other than personal reservations over the styling of the new car, he came way nothing but impressed by the second-generation hybrid. He drove the Premier trim, posted his observations on the site, then answered questions for other owners desperate to find out what's coming. He said the interior materials are "more upscale," there is less hard plastic and better leather, the seats are more comfortable, and ergonomically, "Everything is beautifully laid out." Although obviously not as luxurious, the interior reminded him of the Cadillac ELR. Tech touches like a better display, Apple integration, a wireless charging area for the phone, heated rear seats, and a better rear console were also worth noting. As for driving, Kickincanada called it "incredible." The "much more luxurious drive" comes courtesy of a "firm and sporty" suspension setup, less NVH thanks to more sound insulation, quieter Michelin Energy Saver tires, and quieter operation of the genset ICE. He said acceleration from a standstill felt quicker because there was no delay between applying the throttle and the car taking off. He estimates owners should be able to get about 100 kilometers (62 miles) out of the electric mode alone on a full charge, and that the new Volt is "clearly improved in almost every way" (the car's official range, as determined by the EPA, is 53 electric miles). We look forward to finding out ourselves. Click through to gm-volt to read all of his thoughts and responses if there's a hybrid purchase in your future. Related Video:
2016 Chevy SS gets new face, clears throat
Wed, Sep 16 2015Chevy is tweaking the SS once again for the 2016 model year. While the changes might be minor, muscle sedan enthusiasts shouldn't need any more excuse to love the Bowtie brand's performance sedan. The 2016 Chevy SS benefits from revised front-end styling that incorporates new vertical ducts designed to direct airflow over the front wheel wells. It also gets new LED lighting and new functional hood vents to make it look even more aggressive than the current model. Although the 6.2-liter V8 carries over unchanged from the existing version – churning out 415 horsepower and an equal amount of torque – a new dual-mode exhaust promises to be both quieter at lower speeds and angrier-sounding at higher revs. And of course you can still get it with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. In any event, it should also look the business with its new 19-inch alloys as well. Related Video: 2016 Chevrolet SS Designed for Performance DETROIT – Building on the performance-oriented updates made to the Chevrolet SS last year, the 2016 model features several exterior enhancements that reinforce its presence on the road. A revised front fascia features new, vertical ducts at the outer edges to direct airflow over the front wheel openings to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The fascia also incorporates new LED signature lighting, while new, functional hood vents and new-design 19-inch cast-aluminum wheels contribute to a stronger appearance for the rear-drive sports sedan. "The 2016 SS design changes more fully express the true driving character of the sedan while further enhancing the car's overall performance," said Todd Christensen, Chevrolet Performance Car marketing manager. What hasn't changed is the SS's unique blend of performance, comfort and spaciousness. It features a 6.2L V-8 engine under the hood and turns out an SAE-certified 415 horsepower (310 kW) and 415 lb-ft of torque (563 Nm), and offers a six-speed manual transmission or a paddle-shift six-speed automatic transmission. A new, dual-mode exhaust system for 2016 complements the V-8 engine with quieter performance at low engine speeds and a more muscular engine note at wide-open throttle.
