I would jump in this beast today and drive it anywhere, it's never left me stranded!! Actually, I think it has once or twice, but it's a hell of a truck none the less. Quite a bit of motor work was done a few years back, maybe 8 years ago or better, but only about 20k miles since then. Did a 350 sbc with a mild cam with series 7 ignition system. The guys over at State Auto Body; disassembled, cut, welded, sanded, painted, reassembled, added all new rubber seals, a back glass, cowl induction hood, washed and polished, and probably shaved a few years off their life in the process, for $5500 of my hard earned money! I drove it with a smile on my face...... for about a week, before I parked it. Before I know it, I let the truck sit for over a year, and it wasn't the dream I remembered. Well two brand new fuel tanks, two sending units, a transfer valve, and a shiny new fuel selector button in the cab fixed that!! After many enjoyable miles, I started noticing a chatter in the rear end. I decided to tow it up to Advanced Driveline and have it looked at. Sure enough, the rear end was starting to go. I could just give it a quick little fix to get me back on the road, or I could maybe beef it up a little bit. Like any other self respecting man, I chose the latter, and decided not to waste the tow bill! Nine days later, with a smile on my face, and no lunch money in my pocket, I was the proud owner of 4.56 gears; front and rear, lockers, custom front and rear driveshafts, and a shiny new mediocre looking set of Warn manual hubs. All was great, but now I found myself in the inevitable spot of any redneck; "but honey, I HAVE to have a new transmission, don't you understand, I JUST got gears!!!!" She wasn't happy, but the guys over at Transmax sure were!! I swapped out the old turbo 350 with a 700R4 with the bowser total cure package, and all the other goodies. I was happy to be on the road, and the engine was happy with the overdrive addition! Cruises nice now, about 2k at 60mph. Stopped by Ground Level Customs and had a full custom stereo put in it, with a nice clean sounding set of 10's behind the seat. Then I Drove her over to Extreme Auto Upholstery and had a new seat, dashboard, door panels, carpet, visors, steering wheel, and a headliner put in. Recently added a gear reduction starter, new shocks, a power steering pump, and a brand new non shiny set of Fuel Hostage 20's on 35" tires. The truck could use a few little things here and there to REALLY set it apart. Nothing makes the truck non drivable by any stretch of the imagination, but this is everything that I think could use attention. It still has the original V belt set up, and it's just something I've never gotten around to doing. It doesn't necessarily not work, I just think it's very sub par for the rest of the truck. Also, as an added bonus it likes to holler at you now and then on start up, no matter what you do for the belt adjustment. I also think an electric fan would be a great addition, along with a good clean up of the engine bay in general. There is a crack in the front grille, a crease in the front bumper. There are a handful of paint flaws around the truck. Majority of them not noticeable though unless pointed out. The transfer case started leaking here about a month ago, and to be honest I haven't even climbed under it to see exactly what's going on. The truck doesn't have any seat belts. I couldn't see putting them back in the nice new interior, and never got around to order new ones. It has hooker headers, but they're starting to show their age. I think a good ceramic coat job would really pop. The exhaust is a very nice sounding flowmaster setup. There are no exhaust leaks or anything to speak of, but that would be something I would change, could I keep it. They're just showing age. I could tell stories all day about this beauty, but then I might change my mind about selling it. You wouldn't be happy, and neither would the old lady. I had to post it for sale so I could start getting dinner again!!! You really have to see the truck in person. I've posted this thing on and off over the years, and just about the time I find a buyer I can't bring myself to sell it. I recently bought a new jeep that has sadly taken the car rotation spot from Old Red though. It's painful to see her sit. If you enjoy this truck half as much as I have, it will be worth every penny! Hell, the expensive shit is already done. I think the joy for me was the journey, come buy the destination!! Feel free to ask any questions, and if possible, come by and look at the truck before the auction ends. 407-443-8889

Chevy Volt sales surge with 2016 model, Nissan Leaf continues Autumn fall
Tue, Nov 3 2015The Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt have been locked in sales combat since they arrived within a short distance of each other way back in 2010, and we continue to follow that fight closely. Though both vehicles approach driving efficiency from a different angle, they each have plugs and owners put a surprisingly similar number of electric miles on them. With the launch of its 2016 model, the Bowtie brand now appears to have the upper hand, clocking in a solidly improved performance for the month of October. According to GM's sales charts, the Chevy Volt made it into the loving embrace of 2,035 buyers last month. That's up a whopping 41 percent over the same period in 2014, and more than a 100 percent improvement from the 949-unit result in September. Now, we don't know how many of these were 2015 models and how many were the all-new 2016 edition. Dealers are, no doubt, incentivized to move the old inventory, and the latest and greatest is still only available in a limited number of states. Breaking out the sad trombones, Nissan recorded a mere 1,238 units moved in October. That's down 52.2 percent from the same month in 2014. That's also nine fewer examples than last month. Despite its recent sales travails, the Leaf still leads the calendar-year-to-date figures by a commanding 14,868 to 11,299 tally. We imagine the Japanese manufacturer is counting on an improvement in the situation once the 2016 model, with its larger, optional 30 kWh battery becomes available. You can compare these two stalwarts with the rest of the green-vehicle field in our By The Numbers post due out tomorrow. Green Chevrolet Nissan Electric Hybrid ev sales hybrid sales volt
2017 Chevy Bolt EV arrives in late 2016 with 200-mile range
Wed, Jan 6 2016For those keeping track, the production 2017 Chevy Bolt that was just revealed at CES in Las Vegas is, well, pretty much just what we were expecting. As promised, GM claims the EV crossover-ish hatch will have a 200-mile range, and be "affordable." While pricing hasn't been announced, we've posited in the past that "affordable" is code for around $30,000 after incentives. The Bolt will use a couple of features, both novel and expected, to enhance range. The EV is expected to use information on the owner's driving history, the weather outside, the terrain, and even the time of day to help manage and predict range. The nav system will optimize routes to conserve range, if needed, and show nearby charging stations. That should ease, if not eliminate, range anxiety. Another range-conserving feature is a low-draw Bluetooth system. Speaking of charging stations, there's no word so far about how long it'll take to recharge a Bolt, or the capacity of the battery pack. Inside, the large center-mounted MyLink screen measures a full 10.2 inches, and provides a display for the wide-angle rear camera with a birds-eye view capability. OnStar provides 4G LTE and a wifi hotspot to occupants, and the sorts of efficiency and driving habit apps you'd expect will be available. It seems like remote start and cabin preconditioning will be standard. Interestingly, the Bolt will feature "Gamification" features intended to promote efficient driving by pitting Bolt drivers against each other for green driving awards or rankings. Details on are sparse on this feature, but then again, information on the Bolt in general is a little sparse right now. If you want to know things like detailed specs, the specifics of chassis componentry, or even trims and options, you'll have to wait. Check out our first quick spin of a prototype Bolt in Las Vegas for a preview of what GM's EV is like on the road. Chevrolet Introduces 2017 Bolt EV First long-range, affordable EV with customer-focused connectivity LAS VEGAS – Chevrolet is introducing the 2017 Bolt EV at the Consumer Electronics Show, fulfilling its promise to offer a long-range, affordable electric vehicle for the masses. The Bolt EV, which will go into production by the end of 2016, will offer more than 200 miles of range on a full charge. It also features advanced connectivity technologies designed to enhance and personalize the driving experience.
Chevy Bolt to start at $37,500 before rebates
Thu, Jan 7 2016During the recent debut at the Consumer Electronics Show, Chevrolet only described the 2017 Bolt's cost as "affordable" without any further explanation. Now the company's promo site for the EV spilled the beans of the $37,500 price after destination. That means some buyers could get the five-door hatch for $30,000 after the $7,500 federal tax credit – at least as long as that lasts for the Bowtie brand. State incentives might also reduce the bill even more when the Bolt arrives in late 2016. Chevy wants the Bolt to be a mainstream and affordable vehicle that can attract a wide swath of buyers. The company estimates the five-door's range at over 200 miles, which should be plenty for most customers. The promo site also touts that the batteries can recharge in nine hours from the automaker's 240-volt home charger. Inside, buyers find a high-tech cabin with a customizable 10.2-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch instrument display. To limit range anxiety, the vehicle's computers can take into account the way an owner drives, the weather, terrain, and more to calculate just how much distance remains from the batteries. The system also pushes people to be greener drivers through a game-like interface that offers rewards and rankings. If $37,500 or less for this five-door EV intrigues you, read our Quick Spin of a preproduction example from CES for a better idea of what the Bolt is really like. The powertrain's regenerative braking impressed us even over the short driving course, and the infotainment system seemed incredibly useful. Related Video:
