1972 Chevrolet C-10 Cheyenne Super Truck
This is a California short bed Chevy Cheyenne 1/2 ton super. I bought this truck over 10 years ago and its been
stored in a temperature controlled garage and well taken care of. This truck was Featured on the cover of Classic
Trucks magazine October, 1997. I have the cover to the magazine and title in hand. Below is the article with all
the specifications. The only thing that has been modified since the article is that the bench seat was taken out
and replaced with bucket seats and a console. Excellent condition, runs perfect, reliable, could be a daily driver.
Refer to pictures for condition and call with any questions. Number list below ad with specs. Copy and paste link

Rene Martinez's '72 Cheyenne Super
If you look at rarity strictly from a numbers point of view, of the 365,778 Chevy C-10 trucks built in 1972, only 3
percent left the assembly line as long bed Stepsides versus the roughly 10 percent that left as Cheyenne Supers. In
total, Fleet sides outnumbered Stepsides two to one, and while there aren’t any hard figures about how many of
the Cheyenne Supers were long or short beds, one thing’s for sure: they have remained desirable and valuable for
the last 35 years. Even the base-model C-10s are somewhat prized these days, not to mention a truck like Rene
Martinez’s ’72 Cheyenne Super that shared the cover of our February ’07 issue with the rest of his herd shot
in his ample backyard.
Rene still maintains that he’s not a collector, but his wife begs to differ-she says it’s more of an addiction.
Whatever the case may be, they both fell in love with this green and white two-tone truck the first time they laid
eyes on it. Rene wasn’t even looking for another truck as he wandered around a Fresno-area swap-meet minding his
own business searching for parts for one of his other “children,” but even his wife said he needed it. It was
hard to argue with that, so the deal was made for the clean, original short bed. Rene knew it wasn’t going to
take much to get the ’72 just where he wanted it-close to the ground!
He took the truck to Fat Fender in Fresno for some good medicine that resulted in a 3 1/2-inch drop in the front
and a full 5 inches out back, and the 17-inch Torq-Thrust IIs wrapped up the exterior perfectly. Next it was off to
his good friend Kevin Hernandez of Kev’s Classics, also in Fresno, for a stock tach dash upgrade as well as
stepping up to the rare stock tilt column that only graced some 60,000 trucks in ’72. The rest of the interior is
stock and has survived quite well. The bench seat is still covered in the factory off-white vinyl with simulated
tooled-leather patterns. Along with the Cheyenne Super package came the woodgrain inserts on the glovebox door,
door panels, and gauge panel that Kevin made sure went on the new panel.
The C-10 is basically stock, with factory air, five-lug disc brakes in front, trailing arm rear suspension, a
12-bolt, a 350 V-8, and a Turbo 350. Before Rene took ownership, the original four-bolt main motor was the subject
of a mild build that consisted of being bored .030-over, balanced, blueprinted, and fitted with Speed-Pro forged
pistons, a 268H COMP cam, ported iron heads, and glass-beaded and shot-peened Chevy rods. On the outside, there’s
an Edelbrock dual-plane intake and a 650-cfm carb, Summit polished valve covers, a Mallory UniLite HEI, and
Doug’s 2 1/2-inch headers that breathe fire into the Flowmasters under the steel bed floor.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
GM plans new car family for global markets, $5B investment
Tue, Jul 28 2015Globalization remains all the rage in the auto industry, as manufacturers scramble to develop single vehicles that can easily be adapted to the world's disparate market places. Ford has been a champion of this movement, with its One Ford mandate, but now, its cross-town rival is getting in on the action, albeit on a smaller scale. General Motors has announced a $5-billion investment to develop a new Chevrolet-badged family vehicle for global growth markets, including Brazil, Mexico, India, and importantly, China. With the PRC listed as a target market for the new vehicle, it's no surprise that GM is teaming with its Chinese joint-venture partner, SAIC Motor, to develop the vehicle's architecture and engines. The first vehicles should be hitting dealers by 2019, with GM expecting to eventually move some two million units per year. "With a significant majority of anticipated automotive industry growth in 2015 to 2030 outside of mature markets, Chevrolet is taking steps to capitalize on that growth," GM President Dan Ammann said in the attached statement. "Strengthening Chevrolet's position through this major investment is consistent with our global strategy to ensure long-term profitable growth in the markets where we operate." GM is quite focused on developing markets for a new vehicle, going as far as to say that "mature markets" like the US aren't currently being considered for the new family vehicle. As for where it will be built, the press release specifically says it won't be exported to the US, meaning it will very likely be built abroad using parts from local suppliers. Read on for the official press release from General Motors. Chevrolet Strengthens Position in Growth Markets with $5 Billion Investment 2015-07-28 All-new vehicle family tailored to local customer requirements General Motors and SAIC Motor partnership further enhanced DETROIT – Chevrolet announced today it is investing $5 billion to strengthen its business in global growth markets through the development of an all-new vehicle family that will meet the rapidly changing demands of customers in these markets. "With a significant majority of anticipated automotive industry growth in 2015 to 2030 outside of mature markets, Chevrolet is taking steps to capitalize on that growth," said General Motors President Dan Ammann.
1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
