Up for auction is this unique and one of a kind 1969 C10 swb truck (better known as Nacho Truck). Built by the one and only Del Uschenko of Delmo's Speed and Custom in Burbank, CA. Since being completed last year it has been featured in Street Trucks magazine.

The build was started with an original truck that had the perfect amount of patina with the plan to update, change or restore every part except the sheet metal. This turned out to be more of a challenge than one would expect but mixing old and new together and still flow together took some thought and planning.

The chassis was updated from front to rear using Porterbuilt suspension parts. The front consist of a tubular Dropmember, tubular upper and lower control arms, rack and pinion steering, custom sway bar and drop spindles. The rear has the full Dropmember kit that includes bolt in notches, tubular trailing arm crossmember, tubular 3" dropped  trailing arms, outboard bridge with bag mounts. The rear end has been completely rebuilt with new bearings, seals, axles and 4:10 gears. The four air bags are controlled by AccuAir air management system and is mounted under the bed. The truck rides and drives unbelievably well whether your 1 inch off the ground or six inches.
*Truck is equipped with Accuair switch speed controller and does not have E-level.

The wheels are Centerline Delmo Specials 20x8 on the front and 22x9 on the rear and are wrapped in Desert Hawk Achilles. The stopping power is provided by a CPP Big Brake Kit up front and new Drums in the rear all hooked up to a 7" CPP master cylinder.

Power comes from a GM 350 rebuilt motor backed by a newly built 700r4 Transmission. Edelbrock intake and carb deliver the fuel via  a custom aluminum gas tank in the rear between the frame rails.

The interior has been left completely original. There are no cuts in the dash or the doors. All factory gauges light up and operate properly. The sound system consists of all Rockford Fosgate components. 4-6.5" speakers provide crystal clear sound at every volume level while the shallow mount 10" subwoofer produces the perfect amount of bass. This incredible system is powered by a 400 watt 4-channel amp.

The truck is highly detailed and is NOT a rat rod by any means, every nut and bolt has been replaced. It gets tons of attention every time I take it out and I never hesitate to take it on long road trips. It is so much fun to drive but more importantly its 100% dependable. Sunday Drive: A tale of old favorites and upcoming challengers

Sun, Oct 8 2017

Sedans and crossovers dominated the attention of our readers last week, led by the completely redesigned 2018 Honda Accord. It's the Japanese automaker's flagship, and people are seriously interested in finding out how good the latest Accord is. So interested, in fact, that no other single story came close to the brand-new Accord in Autoblog reader interest. Moving down the list we find the equally new 2018 Buick Enclave. The three-row crossover has a lot to offer a family, especially one looking for a nice, quiet ride. If you're looking for the exact opposite of nice and quiet, but still want enough room for you and your significant others, the Subaru WRX that we tested last week may be the perfect ride for you. Or, if you just want to drive fast and aren't at all worried about space, there's the Camaro SS. See? We offer something for everybody. From there, we look to the future. Who isn't interested in seeing the first fully electric vehicle from Porsche? And who isn't intrigued to see the Mission E testing alongside a gaggle of Teslas? A brand-new Jeep is always a big deal, especially when it's the revival of a classic nameplate like the Grand Wagoneer. And finally, we have something completely different: the Rezvani Tank. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2018 Honda Accord First Drive | Feels like home again 2018 Buick Enclave First Drive Review | Fortress of quietude 2018 Subaru WRX Drivers' Notes | Turbo traditionalist 2018 Chevy Camaro SS Drivers' Notes | Demonstrative power, middling interior Porsche Mission E caught testing against Teslas Jeep three-row SUV caught on public roads — Grand Wagoneer, perhaps? Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?

Fri, Jul 21 2017

General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.
