Much more invested than the reserve on this truck. No-rain, garage kept, shown successfully. Conservatively customized with many options including Full tinted new glass, rubber, trim, all chrome and stainless is exellent, no excuses about the paint. It shows itself without asking about it. Custom grill, leather interior, much billet, custom stainless exhaust, wiend intake, Sanderson powder-coated headers, Holly 750 dp carburetor, Corvette 700R4 overdrive Transmission. Lowered. Louvered hood. Custom "real" pinstriping, and airbrushing as well, Boyd Coddington "signed" billit wheels. Red oak, outstanding bed with all stainless hardware. JVC Stereo CD radio with 4 speakers. Heater, defroster working well. Vdoo guages, matching leather wrapped billit steering wheel, recessed (Frenched) automatic, power antenna. Matching carpet with no stains, no marks on seat or anywhere else. This is a very nice truck, if you want a vintage Chevy that has been done well, and done right. Other options such as 12 bolt rear, new tires, everything is there. Will entertain reasonable offers. Another project prompts sale, or it would stay right here. Custom, flannel cover. The truck is being sold as is, where is, It is currently insured for $25,000.00 full replacement value. Will take a little less but will not give away. Not desparate to sell it. Truck has been verbally appraised by a top restorer who stated, "You can see the money in this truck. It's a nice one." There must be a $500.00 good faith non-refundable down payment. I will hold the truck for a reasonable time agreed upon by seller and buyer, and will assist with shipping details. No other warranty is implied or given and I reserve the right to sell it locally. It is fast, with the 396 Big Block Mark IV engine. Smooth, powerful and hardly broken in. This isn't a go-to-work in the rain and snow pick up. It is more for someone who wants to invest in a well-done 64 Shortbed, Stepside. The one that's hot right now. I have addiitonal photos, and certainly am not ashamed to take any you need or answer any questions with honesty and integrity. I'm not in the MUSCLE
CAR FLIPPING BUSINESS. I saw it, liked it, bought it. Hate to part with it. You won't regret this truck. It is a thumbs up pickup, guaranteed. Walking the walk here, not just talking the talk. The truck talks for herself, trust me. Good luck, and if this is not what you are seeking, hope you find what you are looking for. If it does not sell here, it will be consigned to a major vintage auto auction in the later Spring. Thank you and remember: Honesty and character are all a person has to leave behind when they go. That is the kind of person I am.

On Mar-26-13 at 10:08:37 PDT, seller added the following information:

Further note, the truck does have front disc brakes and smooth power steering, and it is set up for air. Thank you. Will answer all serious questions, and get any photos requested.

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.

Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla P85D upgrades coming soon, lease a Chevy Volt for $149 a month

Wed, Dec 31 2014

CarCharging has raised $6 million from shareholders and has restructured to save cash. The EV charging company plans to expand further in 2015 - with an eye toward achieving profitability - in part by investing in technology and "unlocking the value of our significant equipment inventory," says CarCharging CEO Michael D. Farkas. The group expects to reduce administrative costs by 40 percent, and has hired an interim Chief Financial Officer to help carry out its plans for growth. CarCharging raised the cash through offering convertible preferred stock to its shareholders, whom Farkas thanked "for their passion and patience." Read more in the press release below. Rydell Chevrolet in Los Angeles is offering Chevrolet Volt leases for $149 per month. In a video ad, Rydell offers the Volt for $169 a month with $3,390 due at signing, but another ad shows the offer at $149 a month with $3,550 down or $248 per month with $0 down. Rydell Chevrolet will ship the car anywhere in the lower 48 states. It also appears they offer cupcakes. See Rydell's video below, or read more at Inside EVs. Tesla will upgrade the Model S P85D with higher performance and top speed. The free update, which is due "in the next few months" according to a statement from Tesla, will raise the electronically limited top speed from 130 to 155 miles per hour. "Additionally, an over-the-air firmware upgrade to the power electronics will improve P85D performance at high speed above what anyone outside Tesla has experienced to date," Tesla says. The update will be available for the lifetime of the car, which includes subsequent owners. Read more at Green Car Reports. The Jitterbugs somersaulted at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show for the Chevy Nova

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Judging by the vintage videos that the Chicago Auto Show has been uploading, if you wanted to check out the latest vehicles and watch some dancers in the same place in the late '80s and early '90s, then the Windy City event was definitely the place to be. We've already seen the Footlockers pitching the Cavalier in '88 and a troupe of women singing about the Geo brand in '91. Apparently, the trend went back even further, though. Just take a look at this group called the Jitterbugs selling some badge-engineered products from Chevrolet at the 1986 show. Flanked by the Chevy Nova and Spectrum, these guys managed to do a few pretty impressive jumps and somersaults but mixed them with some rather uninspired spins, as well. Also, wait for 1:24 into the clip to see the least enthusiastic backup dancers that the world has ever known. The Jitterbugs are even further proof that Chevy's habit of mixing dancing and its vehicles goes back even further than the Volt.
