This is a package deal 1983 turbo diesel k5 blazer 4x4 - 1985 diesel 3/4 ton suburban 4x4 - 6.5 military diesel engine The 1983 blazer I have owned for the last 4 years and have done a lot of work to it. Installed a banks side winder turbo and a 2 1/2 “straight exhaust pipe without a muffler. Sounds pretty mean! Replace the head gaskets and head bolts with the better 6.5 gasket. Replace all the gaskets on the engine. Completely disassembled the exterior and repainted the truck. I used epoxy primer sealer as my base coat and two coats of Polyester Primer. I than sprayed two coats of urethane paint over the primer. The color of the blazer is a flat Gunsmoke Metallic with flat Twilight Black Metallic trim. All the Twilight Black Metallic has a chip guard underneath it. The 700r4 transmission went out about a year ago and has been sitting in my garage ever sense. I have removed the drive shafts but just have not found the time to remove the transmission. The u-joint in the rear is completely gone and will need to be replace. I have removed the two almost new batteries, alternator and installed them in the Suburban. The power steering pump squeals from time to time so it will need to be replaced. The steering is a little lose but not treble. On the rear driver side wheel well I slid into a tree and it removed the rock guard but did not do any damage to the body. On the passenger side behind the door someone more than likely one of my kids ran into it with something and took a chunk of paint out. It is only about 3/8” round. I had seats from a 2003 Tahoe in it bur took the front seat out for a different project. The rear seat is still there. The diesel Blazers are getting hard and harder to find. This truck motor runs great and was a blast to drive and with a little work it will be an amazing Blazer.
The 1985 3/4 ton diesel Suburban is in great shape for being 29 years old and only has 144,000 original miles on it. The mile indictor is a 6 digit read out which I have never seen on this vintage of vehicle. I bought this truck for the parts but could not being myself to cannibalize it. It is just too nice. Last summer I drove it around a lot took it to Utah and back to Colorado. It was about a 1500 mile trip and it did great. The ac even worked last year, I haven’t driven it at all sense last summer. I do start and run it though its gears about once a month. Starts right up without any problems. I pretty sure the injectors need to be replace. It blows a lot of black smoke. The power steering pump is bad. It has some minor fluid leaks. The paint is flanking off just like all gm of this time period. About 99.7% rust free. The transmission shift good and it runs down the street straight.
The military 6.5 diesel I bought as a rebuildable engine about 4 month ago. I was planning on building a kick ass 6.5 engine. But life though me a curve ball and now I have to move to Utah. I believe it is a Navistar 6.5 diesel the holy grail of 6.5. This came in a shipping container that the lid weights about 350 pounds. I have not found the time to remove the lid to confirm the true identity of the engine. I am about 95% sure it is a Navistar because the picture I saw of the motor showed the side of the valley having the 506 with dots on both sides but the engine was somewhat dirty and I could not see the base of the valley where the Navistar logo would be. From another picture I could see the back of the motor under where the flywheel would be the casting date code looked to be -15H. Any time the letter comes after the number it is a Navistar cast. Gm had the letter before the numbers.

Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]
Wed, Dec 3 2014Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website. Camaro driver clocked at 171 miles per hour
Wed, Apr 13 2016Chevy's 2016 Camaro SS is a fantastic piece of automotive engineering. It is also, apparently, very, very fast. This latter fact was perfectly illustrated when, on April 8, a Camaro SS driver was nailed in Two Harbors, Minnesota for doing 171 mph. According to WFAA, the unnamed speed demon was flying down Highway 61 near Two Harbors when Hermantown, MN Deputy Police Chief Shawn Padden clocked him at an eye-watering 171 mph. He then recorded the speeder at 168 and 141. At the time, Deputy Chief Padden was working with Minnesota State Patrol on an anti-DWI program called "Toward Zero Deaths". Padden, who was interviewed by the Duluth News Tribune, said he was surprised at the driver's sheer speed. "When he went by me, it was a blur," Padden told the News. "You get used to seeing people going 65 or 70 and what that looks like. But I've never seen anything like this. It's like a rocket on wheels." Fadden chased the Camaro down eventually, but it took some doing. To catch the Camaro, he pushed his Dodge Charger Pursuit to 135 mph just to get into range so the Camaro could see his emergency lights. The speeding driver was ticketed for careless driving, but may lose his license due to a Minnesota law that gives courts the option of revoking licenses for drivers caught doing more than 100 mph. 2016 Chevrolet Camaro starts at $26,695
Fri, Aug 21 2015Parking the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in your driveway will cost $26,695, including the $995 destination charge. That's a cut from $27,000 for the same trim on a 2015 Camaro. If you prefer a V8 under the hood, then the base 1SS goes for $37,295, compared to $34,500 for that model currently. The 2016 Camaro is offered as a coupe and convertible in four trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS. The LT is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque or a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft. The SS gets a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp and 455 lb-ft. The first examples arrive before the end of the year, but droptops and the turbo engine don't materialize until the first quarter of 2016. Base models come with tech like Chevy's MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and multiple driving modes. The RS Package adds to the style with 20-inch wheels, HID headlights, LED taillights, a different grille insert, and rear spoiler. Opting for the SS brings a more aggressive exterior look, plus performance upgrades like Brembo brakes, differential and transmission coolers, and a limited slip differential on those with a manual gearbox. Upgrading to the 2SS adds amenities like heated and ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a Bose stereo, rear cross-traffic alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert. Options like a Magnetic Ride Control suspension and dual-mode exhaust offer additional sportiness. Reading about the 2016 Camaro is nice, but Chevy now has a visualizer for the pony car. It's not quite a full configurator but lets you check out different colors, wheels, and stripes to imagine your future purchase. Enjoy finding just the right combo.
