1970 K5 BLAZER 4X4

HARD TO FIND THEM THIS SOLID AND THIS ORIGINAL.  THIS IS A VERY WELL MAINTAINED K5.  THE BFGOODRICH ALL-TERRAIN TIRES ARE BRAND NEW AND IT ALSO HAS A BRAND NEW BATTERY. THE ENGINE RUNS SMOOTH AND STRONG WITH NO ISSUES.  BRAKES WORK WELL AND ALL LIGHTS FUNCTION.  THE PAINT SHOWS REALLY NICE AND WAS PROBABLY REPAINTED 10+ YEARS AGO.  THERE IS NO ROT OR RUST ON THIS BLAZER.  IT IS JUST AS CLEAN UNDERNEATH AS IT IS ON TOP.  THE FRAME, UNDERCARRIAGE, AND BODY PANELS ARE RUST FREE AND APPEAR TO BE THE ORIGINAL METAL.  FLOORS AND ROCKER PANELS ARE SOLID AND RUST FREE AS ARE THE UNDERSIDES OF THE DOORS AND DOOR JAMBS.  THE CHROME IS IN GREAT SHAPE AS IS THE GLASS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A COUPLE STONE CHIPS ON THE WINDSHIELD.  THE TOP IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REPAINTED THE SAME TIME THE BODY WAS.  THE SPARE TIRE BRACKET WORKS PERFECTLY AND EVEN HAS THE ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE ON IT (DATE STAMPED 1970!! ).  I WAS GOING TO PUT ON A MATCHING SPARE WHEN I PUT ON THE NEW SET OF TIRES BUT I COULDN'T BRING MYSELF TO TAKE IT OFF THERE SINCE IT HAS SURVIVED THE LAST 43 YEARS.

A FEW MINOR THINGS NEEDING ATTENTION:  THE DASH PAD IS ORIGINAL AND HAS YOUR TYPICAL CRACKS.  THE STEERING WHEEL, ALSO ORIGINAL, HAS THE TYPICAL AGE CRACKS AND THE CENTER HORN PIECE IS MISSING. THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS A FEW TEARS IN THE VINYL PIECES AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS.  THE PASSENGER SEAT IS NEAR PERFECT.  THE REAR SEAT IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WEAR ON THE ARM REST PADS.  THE CARPET HAS BEEN REPLACED THROUGHOUT THE BLAZER.   THE STEERING WHEEL, DASH PAD, AND SEAT VINYL ARE ALL EASY AND INEXPENSIVE TO REPAIR.

THE ODOMETER SHOWS 24,621 BUT I'D GUESS IT HAS TURNED OVER ONCE.  NO WAY TO VERIFY.

BID WITH CONFIDENCE.  IT SHOWS GREAT IN THE PICTURES AND EVEN BETTER IN PERSON.  NOTHING TO HIDE WITH THIS K5.  IT'S A VERY SOLID, WELL KEPT, HEAD TURNING BLAZER.  I'D LOVE TO KEEP IT BUT I'VE GOT TO THIN THE HERD AND FOCUS ON OTHER PROJECTS.  I'M VERY PICKY AND SELECTIVE WITH MY CARS.  NO DISAPPOINTMENTS WITH THIS K5.

IT GOES WITH OUT SAYING (BUT I'LL SAY IT ANYWAYS TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION).....THIS IS A 43 YEAR OLD CLASSIC TRUCK, AS SUCH IT IS BEING SOLD "AS IS" WITH NO WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES.  I'M HAPPY TO HELP THE WINNING BIDDER WITH SHIPPING ON MY END AS NEEDED BUT ALL ARRANGEMENTS/COSTS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER.  IF YOU HAVE A FEEDBACK OF LESS THAN 10 PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST OR I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID.  I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.  I'M OPEN TO CONSIDERING ALL REASONABLE AND FAIR OFFERS.  PLEASE DON'T LOWBALL ME.  IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY'RE WORTH.  IF WE AGREE ON A PRICE BEFORE THE END OF THE AUCTION I'M HAPPY TO ADD A "BUY IT NOW" FOR THAT AMOUNT.

I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS AND I HAVE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

GOOD LUCK AND BID TO WIN !!!

Retro Wrong: MotorWeek shares first unaired pilot episode

Fri, Apr 17 2015

MotorWeek is an automotive institution in the United States. We all have to get our start somewhere though, and for the latest entry in the Retro Review series, the show is releasing its unaired pilot for the first time. Even today, the program isn't necessarily the most exciting thing on TV, but the modern incarnation looks like Top Gear compared to this original, very monotone attempt. The cars on display are more interesting from a historical aspect than actually being behind the wheel. MotorWeek puts the Chevrolet Citation and Ford Fairmont head to head. If you want to see progress in the auto industry, look here. The Fairmont manages a rousing 85 horsepower from a 3.3-liter inline six, and the Citation does only a little better with a 115-hp, 2.8-liter V6. The other highlight comes at the end when John Davis talks about the cars of the future. These include the upcoming introduction of the Ford Escort in the US and the mention of a possible gasoline-electric hybrid from General Motors. Given this pilot, it's amazing MotorWeek ever got the green light. However, if you're a fan of auto history, seeing the news from the past is always fascinating. The Tesla Model S was the best-selling EV of 2015

Thu, Jan 14 2016

According to numbers crunched over at Hybrid Cars, the Tesla Model S was the best selling pure electric vehicle last year with 50,366 deliveries. These numbers might not tell the whole story, since Tesla reports deliveries made in 2015 that might have been sold in a different calendar year, while other makers are tallying sales. However, it's inarguable that the Model S ended up in more worldwide driveways than the second-place Nissan Leaf, which did about 43,000 sales. In the US alone, Leaf sales were down 42.8 percent year-on-year, from 30,200 in 2014 to 17,269 last year, and that decline also increased throughout the year. That marks a great finish to a great start to 2015, when Tesla took the lead in EV sales in the US for the first quarter. On top of that, as of last year the Model S becomes the second-best selling EV ever, with 107,148 deliveries since the middle of 2012. It trails the Nissan Leaf, with well over 200,000 worldwide sales. The Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera combo takes a close third, with about 106,000 sales. The Nissan and Chevy rivals both launched at the end of 2010, a 16-month head start on the Tesla. Down the charts, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which continues to be forbidden fruit for our market notched 39,000 sales. The BYD Qin PHEV sold 31,898 examples in China, and BYD would take the overall victory from Tesla with 58,728 deliveries if you counted all of its EV and PHEV production, such as its electric buses. The BMW i3 nabbed fourth place with 24,057 global sales. In 2011 the Munich automaker said it wanted to sell 30,000 i3s annually by 2014, but by the time the car launched the company considered 15,000 annual sales 'great for now,' so the 2015 number seems a fine place to wind up. Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout

Tue, Nov 25 2014

Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT. Go check out the full comparison to read all of the details, then let us know what you think in Comments.
