WOULD YOU LIKE A '55 BEL AIR THAT PUSHES OUT SOME SERIOUS HORSEPOWER BUT CAN ALSO BE COMFORTABLY DRIVEN ANY DISTANCE IF DESIRED? DO YOU NEED AIR CONDITIONING, 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES, POWER STEERING, MODERN STEREO AND A KILLER STANCE FROM YOUR NEXT CLASSIC HOT ROD?? WELL, IF YOU HAVE BEEN NODDING YOUR HEAD YES THEN GET READY BECAUSE THIS BLACK CHERRY AND PEARL WHITE '55 MIGHT JUST BE THE ONE YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
ALSO, JUST IN , IS AN EQUALLY NICE 1952 CHEVY 3100 RESTO MOD....THESE 2 LOOK GREAT TOGETHER SO MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE THEM BOTH!!!! We acquired this '55 Bel Air from a serious car guy that we have purchased quite a few high end cars from over the years. Many of the cars we have purchased from him have been cars he purchased, customized and then got bored quickly after the build and decided to sell. This Bel Air was a slightly different story. He actually owned this car quite a few years and it was his go to car for shows and cruise ins. Over the years it accumulated a few minor cosmetic blems like rock chips and last year he decided to treat it to some serious upgrades both cosmetically and under the hood. The end result is a jaw-dropping, ground pounding, resto-modded '55 Bel Air Hot Rod that is set up to Show and Go!!!! Once he finished with this Bel Air he again got the itch to move on to the next project so he asked me if i wanted it and within hours I wired him the funds and it was on its way to us. As you will see in the pictures and info that follow he sunk some serious $$$$$ in to this build!!! It was already a really nice rust free Bel Air when he started but it only had a mild crate 350 in it and lacked the upgrades he has learned to love. Well, as you will see this car is now a true Show Piece that is sure to win shows and catch all the attention you can handle wherever you go. It was built to be driven and to get you there in a hurry when needed!!! I will do my best to include enough large images, a video so you can hear it running, and an honest description to help you decide if this Hot Rod belongs in your collection! There are quite a few large images so give them a few minutes to load! Sit back and enjoy!! As I mentioned the body on this '55 was already in awesome condition before it was treated to its new coat of paint about a year ago. The color combination is outstanding! The primary color is Black Cherry metallic and the accent color is Pearl white metallic. The Black Cherry glistens in the sun where you will see more of the burgundy/cherry tone and in the shade and at night it looks almost black. I tried to take pics of the car in different lights and different times of day so you could get a sense of how awesome the color pops. The body itself is extremely straight and body panel fit is awesome and most likely better then when it was new. I would say the body is near flawless as I am sure there are probably a few extremely tiny rock chips or flaws I may have missed. Chrome and stainless is either new or polished and look great. All of the windows are tinted and the glass is in beautiful condition. Overall the body is extremely original with just a few subtle touches like the Chevy emblem in the trunk that is actually an added brake light. I think the pictures will give you a great sense for how nice it is...here is a walk around tour of the body: As soon as you open the drivers side door you will know this is not just another nice '55 Bel Air. With close to $20,000 spent on the interior the fresh smell of leather fills the interior as the contoured custom front and rear seats welcome you. Very tastefully done to keep with the original look of the Bel Air but with the same high end quality as the rest of this Hot Rod. There is plenty of room for drivers and passengers of all sizes! The two tone Grey leather accents the Black Cherry exterior beautifully. Custom center console houses the B&M shifter with custom shifter knob and A/c vents. Custom made steering wheel on a great tilt column. Original looking dash completely redone and upgraded with an awesome set of Dakota Digital gauges and quartz clock in stock location that works. All of the lights and gauges appear to be working correctly although the speedometer seems to read a bit fast. Great sounding stereo with the Custom Autosound retro look digital unit with subwoofer neatly mounted in trunk. Connection for your i-pod or phone neatly installed in the ash tray. Sure fit Vintage air conditioning neatly installed to keep you icy cold when needed. Again, I think the pictures will demonstrate the quality of this luxury custom interior. Take a look: One thing is for sure, this '55 Bel Air is not just a thing of beauty....she is also a beast on the road and has all the Horsepower you could possibly need under the hood nicely tamed so that she can be driven and enjoyed at any speed! The motor is still being broken in with under 250 miles since it was built and installed. This motor was built by a well known engine builder, "The Gunner", Gunter Guering. The motor started as a 454, 4-bolt truck block that was bored , decked and notched for a Stroker making it a 505 Cubic Inch generating a reported 660 horsepower. Block and balance work was done by Mancini Machine shop. A few of the notable components are Eagle Stroker crank, rods and pistons. Aluminum heads, 10.5 compression, Comp Solid lifter Roller camshaft, Dart air gap intake manifold, Quick fuel 850 carburetor, etc... Patriot ceramic coated headers breathe out the 3" aluminum exhaust rumbling through Hooker arrow chamber mufflers. Amazing handling and suspension thanks to the CCP 540 gear Power steering, 2" drop spindles up front and 2" drop in the rear, tubular A-arms and Bilstein shocks on all 4 corners. The power from this 505 Big block is transferred to the rear wheels through the 4L80E overdrive automatic transmission with TCI programmable controller. There is currently a 2800 stall converter and the shifter is a B&M shifter which allows you to bump through the gears for some added fun if desired. New 4 core radiator and this big block runs super cool with no overheating issues!! Wilwood 4 wheel disc brake system stops you as needed. Great stance with the Polished Coy wheels providing a great footprint at all 4 corners wrapped in like new set of Nexxen performance rubber. Engine bay is neatly detailed and valve covers and air cleaner painted in a black chrome finish. Take a look and then be sure to listen to the video so you can hear this baby rumble!!! IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN THIS FAR THEN YOU DESERVE TO HEAR THIS BABY START UP AND RUNNING....THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE SOUND OF A STROKED BIG BLOCK WITH A LOPY CAM BREATHING OUT 3" ALUMINUM PIPES WITH GREAT SOUNDING MUFFLERS....CLICK THE ARROW TO START AND CRANK UP YOUR VOLUME: Hopefully you will agree that this '55 is pretty darn sweet. I think you will find that it looks as good or better in person. You will be able to get in and drive it the day it arrives at your driveway and you will be making a great investment in a proven Classic that has had a ton of money spent getting it to this level. There is no doubt that you should not build it for what you can buy it for. Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names
Tue, Mar 17 2015Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
Sunday Drive: From a mid-engine 'Vette to a restomod RV
Sun, Jan 7 2018Automotive enthusiasts are a diverse bunch. As proof, we present last week's top posts on Autoblog, starting with some really good spy photos of the upcoming mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette. Will it be sold alongside a classic front-engine 'Vette? We have no idea, but we can't wait to find out. Up next is a pickup truck. Can't get much further from a supercar, right? At least both the Corvette and the 2019 Ram 1500 – which will debut a radical new design that appears to eschew the mini big-rig look of past Rams in favor of something more refined – are both American. Decidedly not American? The Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV. The boxy off-road 'ute looks a heck of a lot like the old one, which is probably a good thing, but we know it'll be fancier and more luxurious than ever before. Check out the leaked images below. Also hailing from Germany, but sharing absolutely nothing else in common at all, is the Audi A4 Allroad. We've been driving this all-wheel-drive wagon for a while now, and we like it quite a bit. And, last but not least, is a 1959 bus that's been converted into an RV. Like we said, y'all certainly are a diverse bunch.
