For your buying pleasure is a beautiful 1954 Chevy Bel Air that originally sold in Tennessee and was later discovered in Dallas TX . and was restored (on frame) in 2002. The car was rated as a   #2 by an independent appraiser after restoration in 2002. He stated the car had excellent black paint and good to excellent chrome and stainless. Currently, the paint has some minor chips from being driven but is still a 5 footer. (This is not a trailer queen and is driven to shows!) . The interior was restored with original style gray vinyl with patterned inserts on the seats.  The door panels and headliner are in good to excellent condition. The carpet is in good condition but does need some refitting. All dash gauges are 6 volt and work except for the clock. The trunk area was restored to original specs.  The original radio was replaced with a new AM/FM radio.  Original radio and other removed parts are included. Odometer mileage was 27442 at appraisal and current mileage is not guaranteed accurate. Floor pans, rockers and wheel well areas are rust free.

The engine is a 235 cu. in. 6 cylinder that has been converted to 12 volt with a new chrome alternator and battery. The engine runs well with no known defects. A new glass pack muffler gives a deep throaty sound (but splitting the manifold would make it sound really great !) A new clutch, pressure plate and release bearing were changed at restoration. The " three on a tree" manual transmission shifts well. Air shocks were installed on the rear to improve the ride. The car is well equipped with a rare factory spot light, fog lights, grille and trunk guards, fender emblems, sun visor, fender skirts, exhaust tip, window vent shades and even curb feelers.  It has Firestone wide whitewall tires and full hubcaps.

The car has done well at local car shows getting awards including mayor's choice, 2 peoples choice, top 10 an 25 among those awards received.  The car needs some TLC but looks great as is. Vehicle may be examined prior to bidding.

BIDDING & PAYMENT: If you have less than 5 positive feedbacks and want to bid, you must contact seller (by email) before submitting a bid to confirm your willingness and ability to pay or your bid will be rejected.  Winning bidder must provide a non-refundable deposit of $250 within 48 hours of sale via Pay Pal and remit the balance within 10 business days. Remaining balance may be cash or bank certified check and must clear seller's bank before car & title are released.  The car is for sale locally and may be removed from auction without notice.

Suzuki recalls 2 million cars globally

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Suzuki is recalling two million vehicles across the globe, including a number of Chevrolet Cruze sedans that it builds for General Motors, because the ignition switches may begin to smoke. None of the Cruzes being recalled were sold in the US, though. This recall is limited to the Japanese, European and Australian markets. In Suzuki's home market, 1,873,000 vehicles are being recalled, including the Cruze and a number kei cars built for Mazda (the Carol and AZ-Wagon), as well as the automaker's own Alto, Wagon R and Swift. Affected vehicles were built between 1998 and 2009. The remaining 133,000 vehicles include Cruzes and other Suzuki products sold in Europe and Australia. There have been no reports of injuries or accidents due to the 67 reported incidents, all of which come from the Japanese market, a Suzuki spokesperson told Automotive News. Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan

Sun, Jun 14 2020

The story of Daewoo in North America took some interesting plot turns over the decades. First we had the 1988-1993 Pontiac LeMans, a rebadged Daewoo LeMans. A bit later, Daewoo began selling cars under its own nameplate here, with the Lanos, Nubira, and Leganza available for the 1999-2002 model years. Then Daewoo fled the continent and left warranty service of those cars in the hands of Manny, Moe, and Jack. With GM taking over Daewoo Motors after Daewoo's bankruptcy, we got some Daewoos with Suzuki badges here— the Verona and the Reno— while Chevrolet began selling the South Korean-built Daewoo Kalos as the Aveo for the 2004 model year. This car may not be a gem in the sense that you would want to own one, but it's a gem of automotive history and thus deserves its place in this series (especially because it's one of the rare 5-speed cars sold here). Many (maybe even most) of these cars ended up in the hands of rental-car companies and other fleet users, but we can tell from the three-pedal setup that this car went to a non-fleet buyer. We've had a couple of these cars compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons, where I work as a dignified and respected race official, and they've been amazingly quick on a road course in the hands of good drivers. Power came from this 103-horsepower Opel-designed four displacing 1.6 liters. The Nubira and Lanos got versions of this engine on these shores, too. The LS was the top trim level for the Aveo in 2004, so this car got air conditioning and a halfway decent audio system (by 2004 standards). The seat fabric is industrial-grade stuff, which would have held up well under the steady drip and/or torrents of bodily fluids coating the interiors of rental cars. The 2004 Aveo LS started at $12,045, which comes to about $16,675 in 2020 dollars, so it was a lot of commuter-appliance for the price. The following generation of this car became the Chevrolet Sonic, beginning with the 2012 model year. You can still buy a new Sonic, and the inflation-adjusted price is nearly identical to that of the original AveoÂ… though you might want to move fast if you really want one, because Daewoo stopped selling the Kalos in South Korea not long ago. If you want the rarest member of the Aveo family available in North America, find yourself a hen's-teeth Pontiac G3, the short-lived Pontiac-badged version. Speaking of the G3, here's the way it broke the hearts of gas pumps around the world.
