This is a nice and clean 1963 Bel Air 6 passenger wagon.  Mileage shows 30216 on the odometer and the DMV said that their system did not show a discrepancy when I transferred the title into my name, but I can't tell you with absolute confidence that it isn't 130216.  The body is very solid with a good looking paint job.  There are scratches and chips as this car has been driven and enjoyed, but still very nice.  The suspension is stock.  The brakes have been upgraded to power dual master - disc front / drum rear.  Steering is factory power.  The car is powered by a GMPP ZZ3 crate engine that is unmodified.  Holley 650 DP and HEI ignition.  The trans is a M20 Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst shifter.  Rear is stock w/ 3.23 Posi.  Exhaust consists of ceramic coated headers, Flowmaster mufflers, and 2 1/4" piping terminating in front of the axle.  Electrical is mostly stock with a few upgrades for reliability / safety and is not hacked - everything works as it should. The interior is stock and is respectable, but not perfect.  The carpet is faded but not torn or coming apart.  The seats are in great condition with no rips or tears.  Front and rear seat belts installed (not original, but in new condition)  Door panels are OK, but not great.  The headliner is nice with no rips or tears.  All interior trim is present except for the top edge trim on the tailgate which is missing.  All windows operate correctly including the rear power window.  Wheels and tires are in excellent like new condition - 17" front / 20" rear.

The bad:  1)  The original gas tank was junk and had to be replaced.  They are not reproduced and are very very hard to find.  In order to resolve the issue an aftermarket 15 gallon steel tank was installed in the storage area under the rear deck.  The tank is still filled from the factory location and has a sending unit that is correct for the gauge cluster.  The install was very well executed and for all intensive purposes functions identical to the original.  2)  The only rust in the car is the bottom of the tailgate on the inside.  It is not heavy and is not rusted thru.  Also, one body mount on the drivers side is rotted, which I find odd considering everything else around it is excellent as are all the others.  3)  The car has a mini starter (which came with the crate engine), that I do not care for but have not spent the time / money to replace.  It starts the car every time, but seems to crank slower than you would expect.

Please review my pictures and email me with any questions.  Send me your phone number if you would like to talk, I would be glad to speak with you.  This is a really cool car that attracts tons of attention at shows.  It runs excellent and drives with ease.  I have cruised it on several long road trips without any problems and will run 180 degrees on the hottest of days in bumper to bumper traffic.  I am a straight shooter who believes in Karma so I will describe the car to you and answer any questions as honestly as I can.  Thanks for looking!

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski and Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. First, they talk about driving the 2020 Bentley Continental GT V8 First Edition, followed by the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road. Then they revive a format called "This or That," discussing the Jeep Wrangler vs. Gladiator, Subaru Forester vs. Outback, Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger, and whether they'd rather spend $25,000 on a new or vintage car. They've got an update on a previous Spend My Money segment, and, finally, they help another listener pick a daily driver. 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom Sport Quick Spin

Fri, May 8 2015

Coincidentally, the week we had the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom Sport a friend asked, "What would you buy if you could only have one vehicle for everything?" After a week's driving and trailer hauling, very close to first choice would be an American pickup. They're all so good now, you can't lose. And as we found in the Chevy you can go anywhere and haul anything, and you pay no penalty for capability until you try to find an open space on the street to park. Nicely equipped versions like the Custom Sport aren't cheap, but if you need a truck and you like the look of this one, it is really good. Driving Notes The cabin is big and inviting, and everything in it is big and inviting. The materials are nice enough to look and feel swanky but not so lavish that you're afraid to get them dirty. The seats are sized for adult male bears but they don't swallow you up. The sunroof is big enough to be an observatory. It's also quiet. The only time it gets mildly unruly is when you call for power and the engine has to downshift a few gears, otherwise you don't hear the exhaust unless you roll down the window. It looks like it was designed with a T-square. I quite like it, the body-colored bumpers toning things down, the 20-inch wheels doing a much better job of filling those ample arches than the standard 17-inchers. The truck is built for people who take their work and all their gadgets with them. The front console has three USB ports, two 12-volt cigarette lighter ports, and a three-prong 110-volt outlet. The giant cubby at the base of the console has an insert to hold a clipboard or a small tablet. The abyss under the center armrest has one more 12V cigarette lighter, two more USB ports, an SD card reader, and another specialized holder for something the size of a small tablet. There's a WiFi hotspot so the streaming never has to stop. The Chevrolet navigation was trouble-free as usual, and you can input destinations on a QWERTY touchscreen keyboard. Every nav system should be so solid. The Silverado has some of the best feature implementations we've encountered in any vehicle. The lane departure warning and park assist systems don't vibrate the steering wheel, they vibrate the seat. The left, right, and middle of the seat bottom will pulse as necessary, an intuitive, peripheral way to deliver a message that doesn't interrupt your primary focus. The rear-view camera is no longer offset, it's centered.
