NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE!
I am selling a really nice all stock original Survivor 1962 Chevrolet Belair 4 door sedan. It is light shell beige with a fawn interior. This wonderful classic has only had 2 previous owners. It has not been driven in winter snow or salt conditions. First owner spent summers in Long Island, NY and winters in Florida. He had it until he was 93 years old! Second owner was an old car hobbyist who only drove it in nice weather to various shows, cruise-ins, and for pleasure.
Car is equipped with:
283 V8 with 2bbl carburetor
Powerglide automatic transmission
Power steering
Power brakes
Deluxe heater/defroster
Full wheel covers
Deluxe pushbutton radio
Car is all stock under the hood, interior, in the trunk, and retains about 75% of its original finish! Car is also all original sheet metal, floor pans, etc, and is not scaly underneath. Quarter panels and seams still have their original GM "pinch welds". Body panels are original with no patch panels. Car still has original spare in trunk, and still has all 4 original T-3 headlights! Hard to find all stock and un-molested like this! Car has 80,000 original miles since new 51 years ago!
This Belair rides and drives just great! The 283 engine and Powerglide transmission are strong and smooth at all speeds, no smoking or leaking. Everything works on the car except radio needs a new speaker. I like to make sure all my cars are reliable and ready to use. I recently drove it on a 250 mile round trip to a show with no problems or issues. I would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere!
Much recent maintenance has been done:
Engine tuned up
Carburetor rebuilt
Battery replaced
Exhaust replaced
Shocks replaced
Brakes replaced
Cooling system flushed, water pump replaced, and radiator cleaned
Belts, hoses, and clamps replaced
Heater core replaced
Correct "Tuxedo" carpet replaced
Tires replaced with correct reproduction whitewall BF Goodrich Silvertown tires.
Car is nice and straight, retains 75% of original finish. Paint still holds a nice shine. Has a nice patina. Original chrome and brightwork are all very nice. Nice, neat, and all stock original under the hood. Of course like any used car, let alone one that is 51 years old, there are minor imperfections and also small nicks and door dings. These have been touched up with an artists brush so they won't be a further issue. Car is not dented up, rusted out, and has not been wrecked. Just a nice Survivor that has weathered the years well and stood the test of time. It is a real pleasure to drive, and looks great going down the road. Survivor cars are the up and coming thing in the collector car hobby. Remember, any neglected old car can be restored, but they are only original once! Don't miss this neat example!
ABOUT ME: I am a long time (35 years) hobbyist and collector of nice original "Survivor" cars. I have been in the same location for over 25 years and collect, trade, and fool with nice original cars from the late 1950s to mid 1980s. I keep a "rotating collection" of 6 to 8 such cars. When new arrivals appear, I will sell some to make room. This is the case here.
NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE!
Now for the rules:
1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! No retractions will be allowed, so be sure BEFORE you bid! Please read and understand this: ASK QUESTIONS AND GET ANSWERS BEFORE YOU BID.
2. An $1200.00 NON REFUNDABLE partial payment is due within 48 hours of end of auction. This can be by bank wire transfer. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer as well, and is probably the safest method.
3. Please note that car and I am currently at my summer residence. This is in upstate NY, about 1 hour west of Albany, and 1.5 hours east of Syracuse.
4. Vehicle and papers will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. If you are paying with ANY kind of check, it must clear MY bank before car or ownership will be released. No exceptions! Please note that with all the fraudulent money orders out there, most banks treat them like personal checks and place a 5 to 7 business day hold on them. Wire transfer is the best method. If you are paying balance on pickup, it must be cash in person. No exceptions.
5. Vehicle is sold strictly as-is at my premisies with no guarantee or warranty of any kind.
6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it still YOUR responsibility.
7. If you cannot pick up immediately, that is fine, it can be left here for a reasonable period. However, it still must be paid for within the 7 days, and you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond my control or act of God.
8. Please ask and get satisfactory answers to all questions BEFORE YOU BID! Since sold strictly as/is, no warranty or returns, once you bid, you have made a binding contract.
9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 (cell) or 518-835-5058 (landline) with any further questions about this. due to spotty cell service, call both and leave messages at both if no answer.
10. If you have been an Ebay member for less than a year and/or have less than 10 feedbacks, and/or have less than a 95% rating, you MUST contact me BEFORE you bid. Failure to do this may result in my cancelling your bid and blocking you from bidding on my items. I understand that new members can be great customers, but I must talk to you first. Thanks a lot!
Please note, that these are the rules, and are part of the contract when you place a bid. Please as questions BEFORE you bid, if you don't understand something. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326 cell or 518-835-5058 landline with any questions. Leave message if no answer. Thanks for looking!

2016 Chevy Volt auctioned off to help the robots
Tue, Nov 10 2015One of the cool things about the 2016 Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in being auctioned off to raise money for kids' science and robotics program is that even the sedan's color sounds very scientific. Indeed, it's fitting that a "Kinetic Blue" Volt will be used to advance the scientific education of the country's students, according to Hybrid Cars. That is, if it fetches enough cash. Chevrolet parent General Motors was kind enough to donate a 2016 Volt to the so-called FIRST K-12 robotics program (FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). The program was founded in 1989. Last year, General Motors engineers worked with about 10,000 FIRST students in the US, but it looks like GM is now going the cold-hard-cash route to make its mark on future scientists. Bidding for the vehicle will take place until the morning of November 19, and, hopefully, it will generate enough interest to drive the bidding price up beyond its MSRP. As of Tuesday morning, nine bids had been taken, with the top one at $27,750. That's all fine and good except the car is pretty loaded with bells and whistles, and it's 53-mile electric-only range is a considerable jump from the first-generation Volt, so the car's "estimated value" is $40,245 (not factoring in the $7,500 federal tax incentive). That's a pretty good jump over the 2016 Volt's base price of $33,995, which marked a $175 price cut from the 2015 model. So pony up, folks. It's for the kids. Related Video:
Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors
Wed, Oct 22 2014Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz
