1954 Chevrolet BelAir 235 CU. 6 CYL Automatic - Power Glide - 2 Door Original color with one re-paaint - Peblo Tan and Indian Ivory 40,145 miles on old speedometer - 496 miles on new speedometer. I came across NOS speedometer, complete in box and since the old speedometer worked but was noisy, I changed the speedometer. Both speedometers come with car, as seen in pictures. INTERIOR: Beautiful headliner, new rope, and tack strip professionally installed. The dashboard and steering column were professional painted the original color. Beautiful job. New carpet and padding. Seats: The top of backseat was sun burnt so I tried putting NOS seat covers on, as you can see in the pictures, but the bottom of backseat did not fit so that's when I quit. Probably should just get new covers and start over. EXTERIOR: Solid South Carolina car brought to Indiana about 8 years ago. Always parked inside and not driven in any kind of winter weather. I can see a small amount of body work between trunk lid and bumper pan. Shown in pictures. Rest of the car is solid including floor pans and all panels. Driver's side window works but does not work smoothly. Fogging on both wing vent windows. Other things: If car sets for a few weeks and you do not drive regularly the transmission pan gasket leaks but if driven regularly it does not leak at all. I was told that it had a re-built motor installed in about 1996 but I do not have receipt for it. I do have receipt for re-built transmission installed 2/14/1996. I have a whole package of receipts for other things done to the car including when it was converted to 12 volt. This will come with the car. New front shocks were installed last year also new water pump. A new battery approximately 2 years ago. GAUGES: Gas gauge does not work - all other gauges work. Has good replacement radio with cassette with Chevy emblem but it is hooked to old original speaker and does not sound too good. I have original radio if wanted. The horn stuck on so I had to disconnect wires at the horns. Also, took horn ring out under the cap on steering wheel, it is in the glove box. All and all the car runs and drives and still has plenty of pep. It will turn heads wherever you drive it! We have sold our home and moving to a new place with less garage space. For more information call 574-361-5673 as I'm sure there are things I have missed in the ad. Please DO NOT leave voice mail as I will not receive it. Reasonable Reserve |

Sinkhole Opens Up In National Corvette Museum, Swallows Eight Cars
Wed, Feb 12 2014More cars are being moved inside the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky. to avoid falling down the same sinkhole that swallowed eight classic sports cars early this morning, Autoblog reported. Museum officials said the hole was discovered when motion sensors activated around 5:45 a.m. The rescue mission can be viewed on the museum's live feed cameras, which weren't working after the sinkhole emerged. A 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 "Blue Devil," both on loan from General Motors, were among the cars that fell into the sinkhole. The museum owned the other affected Corvettes, which included a 1963 Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car and the 1 millionth Corvette ever produced. The state of the cars at the bottom of the hole isn't known, but trial lawyer and sinkhole expert Ted Corless said the cars may be a total loss for the museum and GM. "Most states, including Kentucky, exclude damage caused by sinkhole activity," he said. "There will be, in all likelihood, a claim made, but a lot of policies would specifically exclude these kinds of damages." Corless has 15 years experience dealing with sinkholes. He said that typically neither the building, nor the cars themselves are protected under their insurance policies. "I would have to say, more likely then not, they're going to have an uninsured loss measured in the hundreds of thousands of dollars." The museum is closed Wednesday while a structural engineer assesses the damage. GM recalls half-million full-size SUVs to address seatbelt issue
Tue, Aug 16 2022GM is recalling its redesigned full-size SUV models to address improperly riveted mounts securing the third-row seatbelts that may fail in the event of an accident. The population includes the 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2021-2022 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and 2021-2022 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, for a total of 484,155 vehicles. "Operators at the supplier’s manufacturing plant may have not properly followed manufacturing processes and inadvertently missed the rivet forming operation," GM said in its defect report to NHTSA. "In certain of these vehicles, the rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seatbelt buckle assembly may not have been properly formed during the manufacturing process. If the third-row seatbelt assembly is not properly riveted, it may not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury." Fortunately, the fix is relatively simple. GM service technicians will inspect the rivets on the rear seatbelt buckle assemblies and replace the entire unit if the rivets are not to spec. Dealer notifications have already been distributed; owners should receive notice start in September. Related video: Cadillac Chevrolet GM GMC Ownership Safety SUV
OnStar to offer 90-day driving assessment, possible insurance discount
Wed, Jan 7 2015General Motors has announced a brace of new features for OnStar, two of which could help you save money assuming you're willing to sign over some (more) personal details. The first is a driving assessment program in which OnStar takes note of certain driving parameters for 90 days, then provides the driver feedback on their driving, both individually and when compared to other drivers in the program, as well as driving tips. Think of it as OnStar's ICE version of the Nissan Leaf's CARWING feature that compares how efficient your electric driving is compared to other BEV drivers. In this case, though, certain drivers will have the chance to share their assessment with Progressive Insurance, and if the numbers are right they might get a "driving-based" discount from the insurance company. The assessment program is voluntary, and requires opting in. It will be available this summer on all new GM cars and some GM vehicles back to 2013. In case this sounds like Big Brother, let's not forget that Big Brother is already here and moved in so long ago that he's a member of the Kiwanis club and is hosting neighborhood block parties. Progressive already has a million enrollees in a program called Snapshot that tracks OBD II data to offer usage-based insurance to provide annual pricing based on how much you drive your car, with discounts of up to 30 percent. The OnStar effort is just another way to do that. The second feature is proximity offers through AtYourService, which notifies drivers to deals and information on their driving route and provides coupons from RetailMeNot and Entertainment Book. Beyond that, a deal with Priceline will let OnStar agents book hotels for you starting this year, there's a tie-in with Dunkin' Donuts, too, but we're fuzzy on those benefits, and third new feature lets Chevrolet owners know when certain parts need replacing.
