PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW = It will probably save us both some time.

If for some reason I've missed something that you have a question to, I would be glad to answer it.

A few months after buying this car from a friend, my brother in law joined the Navy and needed someone to take care of his SUV for the next 6 years.  I don't need to sell this car, but I also don't need it sitting around on storage insurance.  The previous owner moved to New Orleans and needed the money, otherwise he loved the car and would've kept it.  For the few months I've driven it, I've had no problems.  I've gone to Vancouver, WA from Renton a few times, and then once a week local driving, or to Seattle (I work from home).  It gets good gas mileage although I don't recall what it is.

The only things I've done since buying it was have a new windshield installed for $300, a full interior clean/steam/shampoo for $150, alignment tuned, a new cabin filter and two synthetic oil changes.

I bought the car knowing the following from the previous owner...

-he hit a guardrail which damaged the front hood as seen in the second picture.  The radiator was replaced but the cosmetic damage was left.  Sometime after this repair, the check engine light came on and now stays on.  He paid for a diagnostic report to be run, which confirms it's OBD-II code P0128, which I can show you.  There are five possible causes for this code, which you can find by searching google for "OBD-II code P0128".  ebay won't let me include a link, so when you get the list of results from google, chose the link that has "obd code p0128" in the actual link.  Of the five possible causes listed, it is not low engine coolant and not likely a faulty cooling fan, as it turns on and off as expected.  Therefore the cause must be one of the remaining three listed.  I haven't had it looked at because the car runs fine and now after getting the brother in laws SUV, it doesn't make sense for me to spend the money on it.

-he backed into something, which caused the damage seen in the third picture.  Again this is cosmetic and doesn't make sense to spend money on.

-had a CD/stereo professionally installed with a sub and amplifier in the trunk, but there's still plenty of trunk space.

-spent a little over $1K for new 16" rims and tires.  There is also a set of snow chains.  However, the TPMS sensors didn't get put back on.  Therefore, the indicator light that tells you when your tires need to be inflated stays on.  The estimate from Firestone Complete Auto Care to have new sensors installed is $440 for labor, parts and tax.  I didn't have this done because I don't need my car to remind me of the obvious--check your tires every once in awhile.  :)

-he had tint installed in Texas.  It was done well.  The back window is darker than the side windows.

-there is 1 small cigarette burn in the passenger seat and 1 small burn in the drivers seat from the previous owner.

I would like to get $3,500, which is what I paid for it.  If I can't sell it for this then I'll continue to pay storage insurance for six years because eventually I'll need a car again.  I also have a car fax report, but it says the same thing as the above report that ebay is providing as part of this listing (click the "Vehicle History Report" tab).

If after reading the above, you would like to see the car or take a test drive with me, please send a message on here with your number.  Let me know if I can text, or if I should call.  Since I'm only paying storage insurance you will need to come to Renton and will only be able to drive it around the neighborhood.

One of the world's largest muscle car museums is auctioning off its cars

Mon, Jan 11 2021

Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City is one of the biggest collections of high-performance American cars in the world. With over 200 cars of mostly GM makes, it's a mecca for fans of the golden age of Detroit iron. Unfortunately, the museum will be shutting its doors for good on Jan. 17 and auctioning off most of its assets with no reserve. The collection is, to put it bluntly, astounding. Advertised as a combined 65,000-plus horsepower, it occupies a 60,000-square-foot retail space in Punta Gorda, Fla., in a former Walmart store. It make sense when you learn that founder Rick Treworgy made his fortune in the commercial real estate business. As a hobby, he began to amass a truly jaw-dropping collection of muscle cars, filling out a collection that often has every year of a particular model represented, or a grouping of the rarest and highest-performance option packages of that year or model. Often, Treworgy bought placeholders while scouring the country for even rarer versions. It helps that Muscle Car City also houses a showroom where unwanted cars are sold, as well as its own speed shop that stocks plenty of parts. There's even a '50s-style diner called Stingray's Bar and Grill. According to a 2014 episode of Car Crazy, Treworgy has 80 Corvettes alone, more than the actual Corvette Museum. Among them are 20 models from 1967, one of Treworgy's favorites. The rest span the decades from 1954 (he once had a '53 but sold it) to a recently acquired 2020 C8, which, according to The Drive, has only 300 miles on the odometer. You like Impalas? There are models of every year from 1958 to 1969. El Caminos? He's got 'em from 1964 to 1972. Novas? Every year from 1963 to 1970 is represented. Most are the more desirable examples of each breed, with four-speed transmissions, the biggest blocks, and unicorn option packages like a factory 1965 Z16 SS396 Chevelle, one of 200 that were ordered off-menu at Chevy dealerships. And don't even get us started on the Camaros, which include not one, but two COPO 1969s. Treworgy even owns the only known surviving example of a 1936 Chevrolet Phaeton, of which only seven were built. On top of it all, many of these cars are concours quality and have won awards at prestigious car shows. While it's sad to see a collection like this broken up, Treworgy told The Drive that he'd been planning to retire next year anyway. However, the COVID-19 pandemic sped up those plans, greatly reducing the number of visitors to his museum.

GM's Oshawa plant may close after Camaro production moves

Sat, Feb 7 2015

Most of the time, when vehicle production is moved from one assembly plant to another, it spells bad news for the former. While General Motors won't go so far as to say its Oshawa, Ontario factory, which is losing the Chevrolet Camaro to the Lansing Grand River plant, is in trouble, analysts seem to think the factory's days are numbered. Forecasts for the facility are far from positive. The loss of the Camaro this year, combined with GM's targeted shutdown of a single-shift assembly line responsible for the fleet-only Chevy Impala Limited and the Equinox crossover is a bad enough omen. But with AutoForecast Solutions CEO Joe McCabe telling The Detroit News that the plant's other two products, the Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal, aren't likely to stick around beyond 2017, things look decidedly grim at Oshawa. "There is a fairly strong chance that the plant could close," Jeff Schuster, senior VP of forecasting for LMC Automotive, told The Detroit News. That doesn't mean that Unifor, Canada's auto union, and the Canadian government are going to let the factory die without a fight. And with the latter chipping in $10 billion as part of GM's 2009 bailout, you might think it has a degree of leverage in the situation. A meeting between the government and the Detroit Three at the 2015 North American International Auto Show revealed that Oshawa is already a topic of conversation. "We made it very clear that we would like to see an indication on the future of Oshawa sooner, in particular because the timing is very challenging for our supply chain to be able to adjust to potentially future orders or changes, but also to know that there are going to be future opportunities at Oshawa," Ontario's Minister of Economic, Development, Employment and Infrastructure Brad Duguid told The Detroit News. "Bottom line: It's time they made a longer-term commitment here," Unifor President Jerry Dias said, echoing Duguid's statements. It's unclear if this sort of strong talk will be enough to save 3,300-plus employees, although based on the analysts' forecasts, we doubt it.
