1979 FORD RANGER XLT BRONCO 4X4

This is a nice bronco and has a new engine, transmission, interior, and paint. It has many other new mechanical parts also. The work done was quality, and it runs and drives excellent. Some receipts for work done are included. The bronco looks great and is an attention getter. Before restoration work was done, this was a solid bronco already. The motor is a 1969 429 big block and sounds really nice. A couple videos are included also. I intended to keep this bronco but I have other priorities right now. I've looked at lots and lots of '78-'79 broncos over the years and the only other one I saw this nice, I bought. You won't be disappointed. Owners manual is included. I HAVE 50 PICTURES, and can email the link for serious buyers. Ebay only allows 24 and it is too tedious to embed them all in the listing. Thanks and happy bidding.

MECHANICAL

Most of the drivetrain on this bronco is new. This includes but is not limited to: Engine, transmission, exhaust, brakes, performance shocks, u-joints, ball joints, brakes, water pump, fuel pump, plugs/wires/cap/rotor, engine mounts, hoses, carburetor, and radius arm bushings. The engine is a standard bore 1969 429 with 375 horsepower stock. It is balanced and has new rings, bearings, cam bearings, oil pump, timing chain, camshaft, lifters, etc. etc.  The engine was hottanked and assembled by a professional engine builder that I know. The camshaft is a 280 duration, 480 lift for a nice lope but completely driveable. Idles nice and has plenty of vacuum. The heads were rebuilt, ported, and port matched to the intake. It has dovetail rockers and new performance springs. Receipt included. Exhaust is new 3" which looks aluminized and has flowmaster style mufflers. It sounds very nice and fast, but not too loud. No headers, but sounds like it has them. Transmission is a newly rebuilt c-6 with receipt and 12,000 mile warranty. It works as it should. Engine has no smokes or knocks and runs cool with great oil pressure. Brakes have new rotors, drums, wheelcylinders, pads and shoes. The new drivetrain parts have about 200 miles on them. This drives and runs perfect. Goes down the road at 70 as smooth and straight as possible. The tires are weather cracked but drive so good that I don't know that you'd need new ones. They are 33x12.50 and clear the fenders easily but make it sit a little higher. I believe this has a positrac because it spun both on my shop floor. The carb is a 600 edelbrock which is new. The bronco has tons of power but I think there is a lot more available with this engine. The carb is most likely too small for the engine. If I were to keep it, I would personally put an aluminum intake on it also and headers. It doesn't need either but those combined with a larger carb would make a big power difference. This does have cruise but it is not hooked up. Previous owner said it worked before the engine swap, he just never hooked it back up. Lights and gauges all work. Heater works. Power steering hose leaks which I haven't had time to fix. I'll try to get time to before the auction is over but if not, it is nothing serious. Power steering works great with fluid in it. All suspension and frame was painted black. Overall, the bronco is mechanically near perfect.
The previous owner is a professional mechanic. He did the work himself besides the machine work. I've done business with him for years and completely trust everything he told me about this bronco. I've been in his shop and he knows what he's doing, especially with fords. He kept every receipt for every part, but lost some when moving. I have the transmission and headwork receipts. I'm working on getting documentation for the shortblock rebuild if possible.

BODY

The body is very nice and was rust free before paint. The body is rust free and this includes but is not limited to: frame, floors, jams, doors, hood, fenders, quarters, roof, firewall, tailgate, core support. No heavy bondo and no rust. No signs of any collision work ever. New front bumper. New grille shell. Very straight with no dents. The paint is new, with 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. The paint looks nice but was never wet sanded/buffed after paint. It looks fine as-is, but would look better if the finish work was done. White paint on the top is new also. Included is extra paint from the paintjob is in both colors. Good to have in case any dings occcur in the future, you'll have paint that matches perfectly. The doors shut nicely and the rear window works but goes up slow. I'm sure a new window motor wouldn't hurt. The new paint is very close to the original color, which is what the previous owner wanted.  I took two sets of exterior pictures, one in the sun and the other while cloudy. That is why some look different. The paint pops in the sun and has light metalflake in it. This bronco has a non-original rollbar in it. I'm sure it looks cool with the top off but I never had it off. I haven't inspected the trim closely, but it all looks very nice. Bumpers are in good shape. Rear door and spare carrier work as they should. The body is very clean and this is a great looking bronco.

INTERIOR

The seats and headliner were professionally recovered and look nice. They are comfy also. Unlike 20-30 years ago, this is expensive these days to get done. The carpet is new and fits nicely unlike some of the cheaper reproduction carpets. Door panels are in good shape, rear side panels are too but not perfect. They are the originals. Dash has aftermarket stereo. Reproduction dash gauge panels are available if you want to put a stock radio back in. Stereo is a kenwood cassette deck with separate CD changer. It is dated, but owner said the changer worked. The drivers door seal has the usual wear and they should be changed but it isn't really bad. They are cheap though and easy to install.

OVERALL

These broncos are great in the summer. They make lots of aftermarket parts and soft top and half cab options so you can leave the fiberglass top off all summer. I personally like these broncos better than the earlier bodystyle, and they seem to be harder to find in nice condition. They are wider and longer also and drive better on the highway.
