The Volkswagen Beetle, officially called the Volkswagen Type 1, or informally the Volkswagen Bug, is an economy car produced by the German auto maker Volkswagen from 1938 until 2003. With over 21 million manufactured in an air-cooled, rear-engined, rear-wheel drive configuration, the Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single design platform, worldwide.

Motoexotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer yet another incredible and timeless Volkswagen Beetle. This beautifully restored 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible has only had two owners in its 51 years, has been tastefully upgraded and has some really cool literature with it! Prior to being purchased by the last owner in 2003, it had resided with the same family here in Missouri where it was lovingly cared for – it then benefitted from a full nut & bolt restoration. After the restoration, the car scored a 98.7 out of 100 in a car show, impressive!

The paint has been finished professionally in two stage “Pearl White” and it looks incredible. The paint is in very, very good condition and the body is in excellent shape, from top to bottom. The red canvas convertible top is new and looks wonderful while contrasting the Pearl White paint. This is one awesome little Beetle! The chrome appears to have been re-chromed or replaced, is all intact and looks absolutely incredible.

Inside, the interior has been completely redone and looks awesome. The extraordinarily comfortable front bucket seats are wrapped in two tone white vinyl with red cloth inserts and show no notable imperfections or wear … same goes for the rear bench seat. The door panels are finished in the same material and look just as great. The carpet and headliner looks great, showing no imperfections. There has been an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player installed into the dash and VDO gauges installed, which look great.

Under the rear bonnet, you will find the rebuilt 1600cc dual port, four cylinder engine. The engine sits in a HIGHLY detailed compartment and is arguably show-worthy. The casting number on the engine is AE038139. Attached to the engine is a manual Rancho Performance transaxle, making this little Beetle a blast to drive! The electric system has been upgraded to a 12v system. While being restored, this Beetle received a new braking system, bearings and seals, as well as new wheels and tires. The car sits upon a set of new 15” Spirit of America 5 spoke, chrome wheels wrapped in 165R15 tires in the front and P205/55R15 tires in the rear.

Very rarely does one find such an exquisite Beetle such as the one you see here! Included with the purchase of this car is an original photo of the car with its original owners, a note from the original owner and a car show judging sheet, showing the Beetle scoring nearly perfect! The VIN to this awesome little Beetle is 5318815 and the mileage currently shows 97,853. It is being sold on a clean and clear Missouri title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
