Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

West Coast Classics are proud to present an obviously exceptionally well maintained and very rare and collectible example of this 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II LWB finished in the most desirable and probably rarest all Black color combination of original factory 'Mason's Black' (Code 9500701) color paint with factory painted red pin stripes and a matching color Black 'Everflex roof' and with beautiful original 'Black' (Trim Code VM8500) Connolly leather hides and full Black carpeting and original mohair headliner and 'Spirit of Ecstasy' hood ornament, otherwise know as the 'Silver Lady'.

The Silver Wraith II was a very rare Long Wheel Base version of the Silver Shadow model with only 2,154 models built between its 1977-80 production years compared to 8,980 Silver Shadow II's. Its high cost and low production plus added amenities such as the extra 4" of legroom, a smaller rear 'Opera' window to enhance privacy, unique wheel covers and the 'Everflex' roof as standard ensured that it has always boasted a high status amongst Rolls Royce enthusiasts, especially this last year 1980 model, which also boasted being the first year of the Bosch fuel injection for California models only, with all other US cars having carburetors throughout production and the first year that Rolls changed from using brake fluid to mineral oil to power the braking and suspension systems.

This particular example was originally purchased at 'Beverly Hills Rolls Royce' of Beverly Hills, California and reportedly has had only two southern California owners since new. It has the most internationally desirable all Black color combination with its original Black 'Connolly Leather' interior showing a lovely original patina and which famously supplied the British car industry for over 125 years, including such legendary marques as Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and Jaguar, supplying these manufacturer's highly finished leather. It was hand crafted from unfenced cows which produced unblemished hides and to have these original hides is a highly desirable original feature of any Rolls Royce or Bentley amongst Rolls Royce enthusiasts. It is of interest that this leather was also famously used for the seats of the 'Submarine Spitfire' in WWII, the luxury 'Concorde' aircraft and the luxury liner, the Queen Elizabeth II as well as all the benches in the British Houses of Parliament together with many other parliaments around the world. The business developed into a high profile company with clientele including royalty, celebrities, socialites and industry leaders and today Connolly accessory designs are to be found in many museums around the world. 'Connolly Leather' has stopped production since 2002 and any stocks left of the leather they had produced has already been depleted. Today, upholstery shops uses a 'Connolly' substitute leather supplied by different European tannery's that uses reportedly the same Vaumol, Autolux and Laxan graining processes that Connoly used and is about as close as you can get to the original factory leather, but as any enthusiast will tell you, there is no substitute for the smell and feel of the authentically original 'Connolly' leather interior.

The leather dashboard is also original and in exceptional condition (obviously always garaged from the sun) and the original mohair wool headliner is still virtually as new. The original and magnificent burled walnut woodwork is also in very fine condition throughout and all the power options and electric windows are working as they should. The car has its original factory lambswool Mouton overlays (lambskin hair which has been straightened and treated and thermally set to produce a moisture repellent finish) sheepskin rugs and factory tools.

The original 'Mason's Black' color paintwork is in excellent condition with beautiful contrasting red painted pin striping and all the chrome-work, including the Rolls Royce grille, is absolutely outstanding. The original Black 'Everflex' roof is also as new and for those unfamiliar with the term, the 'Everflex'roof was a British made fabric roof covering used in the 1960's-80's by Rolls Royce, Bentley and some Jaguars. The material is very durable and expensive with a fabric placed first below the 'Everflex' material to add weight and body to its texture before the roof is expertly screwed on to the car. The Silver Wraith II also has a unique smaller rear opera-style window and unique wheel covers.

This obviously well maintained and relatively low mileage Rolls Royce engine runs extremely strong and these cars are not slow - the engine purrs like a kitten, never stalls or idles rough and is extremely reliable - there is plenty of power to pull away at the lights and it cruises at high speeds with absolute ease. The transmission shift is almost imperceptibly smooth and the temperature always remains cool.

The Silver Wraith II is truly a sensual car that you can drive with your fingertips, smooth and relatively silent, it's thoroughly therapeutic for both drivers and passengers. The delightful precision action of the electrically powered steering column gear change and the ultra light weighted power steering allows one to park this 5000lbs of pure luxury with literally one finger and this long but actually quite slender car is anything but ponderous thanks to it's torque and brilliant turning radius!

This particular model drives particularly well and must be seen as well as driven to be fully appreciated. Without a doubt you will look long and hard to find a finer example of this rare and very collectible
last year 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II Long Wheel Base Fuel Injected model. These are the rarest and most luxurious and desirable of the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow range (1965-1980) with an extra four inches of leg room for the generally chauffeur driven rear passengers of these models and only 2,135 were built at the Crewe factory between its 1975-1980 production years and we understand that maybe only 100 fuel injected models were exported to California only in 1980. Obviously always garaged with no accidents and no rust and never abused!

For those who are unfamiliar, Rolls Royce no longer exists as it had for over one hundred years. This is the one of the last in the original line of cars hand built in the legendary Rolls Royce factory in Crewe, England with a quality and craftsmanship that far surpasses that of today's mass produced models with many BMW parts - this is indeed a rare opportunity to own a piece of automotive history, from a time when Rolls Royce was truly building the world's finest automobiles - a great investment for the Rolls Royce enthusiast or collector or simply an outstandingly and striking example of a very rare and unusual Rolls Royce for the discerning luxury classic car owner!
