2000 Jeep Cherokee 2 Door One Owner Never Off Road

Don't waste money on autocheck, this is a one owner car with zero accidents or issues

I buy/sell 4X4 oil industry fleet trucks and ship them all over the world which is not super exciting but sometimes my business enables me to get my hands on older 4x4 vehicles that I appreciate and enjoy like this Jeep Cherokee. These are fantastic 4x4 vehicles, super reliable, very popular here in the high (no pun intended) Colorado mountains. I own 3 of them right now and just love em. If you are local (and a real buyer) I urge you to inspect this Jeep in person, it will impress you as it does me and deserves a new owner that will take care of and appreciate it.

Please read all of the ad below before calling me with questions or offers. I'll always give you blunt, candid answers, I am happy to photograph anything you would like to see closer as time allows. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime without warning as this Jeep is for sale locally.

The Story:

This Jeep was owned by a New Mexico city planner, never off road, no smoke/kids/pets, a grocery getter. I paid top dollar (was not allowed to drive it in advance) for it thinking what could possibly be wrong with only 132K miles? What I wasn't told was that this car had been sitting in storage for nearly 2 years, was in need of rear pinion bearing repair, thus the reason it was being sold. I trailered it to my mechanic (a 17 year ASE certified master tech, not some shade tree dude) and told him to fix it right. Most of the cars you buy on eBay are "buyer beware - good luck to ya" etc. You get them home, then the "fun" begins as does the repair expense. My cars are given a full professional safety inspection, repaired correctly and I drive them 500-1000 miles so I know what I'm selling. I'm not perfect and things can fail but I try to go above and beyond, am super blunt and candid, my feedback and reputation speak for themselves. My mechanic repaired everything (ouch$) on this Jeep and I was thrilled with it. Then early one 20 degree morning on my way to New Mexico, all the windows fogged up and smelled like antifreeze, damn! I was bitten on the butt again from sitting idle (the Jeep not me) for nearly 2 years. If you have never replaced a heater core in one of these rigs, let me tell you, it sucks. You have to dismantle the entire dash, most shops will charge $800-$1000 to install this $100 part. All total the repairs and services listed below would cost the average person well in excess of $2000. Its all fixed, it's awesome and its ready to roll, this Jeep will make someone very, very happy to own it.

The List Of Repairs:

replaced the battery

resealed the valve cover

replaced the rear main seal and oil pan gasket

changed the oil-filter to Valvoline synthetic 5W30 oil

replaced the thermostat gasket, thermostat and radiator cap, flushed and filled with new coolant

preformed a complete front differential service, replaced the fluid with synthetic gear oil

serviced the transmission, replaced the fluid with synthetic trans fluid

drained and serviced the transfer case, filled with synthetic fluid

replaced-rebuilt the rear differential pinion bearings and side bearings, refilled with synthetic gear oil

installed a 2 inch lift kit for more clearance and lets be honest, it looks better this way

installed a new front steering stabilizer

installed a new heater core

The Good Stuff:

Equipped with power steering, automatic trans, power mirrors, AM/FM cassette, AC, rear defrost, rear wiper, roof rack, it has a factory positraction unit in the rear axle, a huge plus here in Colorado. The body/chassis on this Cherokee is completely rust free, and nearly perfect, is super straight. This Jeep starts, runs, drives and stops excellent in every way, smooth as butter, quiet, no squeaks, no rattles, super tight, you will grin ear to ear the first time you drive it. The 235/75/15 Firestone tires are like brand new, the interior has been professionally steam cleaned, extracted and detailed, AC is ice cold, heat is red hot, everything works as it should. I would not hesitate to jump in and drive this car anywhere and I do.

The Not So Good Stuff:

This Jeep is 15 years old so there are some negative things to be expected, most in this case are only cosmetic. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff no matter how small because I value my reputation/feedback and no one likes "surprises" buying a car on-line.

there are 2 little holes from wear in the edge of the drivers seat (see photos) an easy repair for my upholstery guy but I'm having trouble in this little town finding some clean correct donor material.

there is a very small "bump" on the hood (see photos) like someone slammed the hood with something sitting on top of the engine.

there is some black road tar spots on the passenger side bottom rocker/door (see photos) will come off with bug/tar cleaner.

there is some paint peeling on the passenger side rear vent and in the rain gutter (see photos) a common issue.

there are a couple scratches on the rear bumper (see photos)

the gasket on the lower right corner of the rear window is separated and needs to be replaced or maybe just glued in place (see photos)

the airbag light at times goes on and off, a common older Jeep issue, is usually the clock spring in the steering column, a $250-$300 fix, I'm watching it.

there is tiny chip in the windshield on the drivers side.

the black plastic fender flares, trim and bumper covers all show some "sun fading" a common Cherokee issue, could use some back to black treatment.

Aside from the above list and some overall age related normal used Jeep type stuff this is an excellent rig, super hard to find in this condition and will make someone very happy to own it...

If you are in the Durango CO area and need a quality mechanic, I cannot speak highly enough of Jayson Black owner of Auto Surgeons (25 Flightline Road, Animas Air Park 970 403 5511) He is a master Subaru tech, highly skilled with nearly any vehicle, experienced, honest, he will not waste your money. He has customers that drive all the way from Denver (7 hours) for work on their cars, he is that good.
