Ultra-Rare 1986 Daimler-Benz 280 GE Station Wagon.

A cult favorite among classic off-road enthusiasts, the 280 GE is a fascinating alternative to Land Cruisers or Land Rovers of the same era. This example is a four-door long-wheelbase station wagon model that has been fastidiously cared for since new. It is presented in Light Grey over a Grey interior that features factory Recaro seats, and the odometer represents what is believed to be just 32,382 original miles.

Beginning with the Daimler-Puch Gelandewagen in 1979 and continuing to the modern Mercedes-Benz G-Class, this G-Wagen's overall designed hasn't changed much. The utilitarian design, four-wheel drive and three locking differentials made the G-Wagen an instant hit with the off-road community and that popularity continues to this day.

The W460-generation was available in six available trim levels, from the base 230 G, to the popular 280 GE seen here. This 280 GE features a gasoline-powered, fuel-injected 2.8L inline-six under the hood that was rated at 150hp/166lb-ft. The engine is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, which was a standard feature for the first time in 1986. As would be expected with just 32,000 miles driven, this 280 GE runs and drives excellently with smooth power and seamless gear changes.

Inside, this car features fabulous grey plaid upholstery on the front seats, middle bench seat and door panels, and the rear cargo area is equipped with fold-down jump seats. A double-pannel solar insulated roof helps keep the heat off the cabin and the original audio system has been supplanted by a modern system with a satellite radio-capable Alpine AM/FM audio receiver and premium Alpine speakers. Otherwise, this Gelandewagen is all stock and original with features that include factory air conditioning, power windows, a rear-mounted spare, black fender arches, headlamp brush guards, a front tow hook and rear trailer hitch.

Included with this 280 GE is an original owner's manual, Alpine audio guide and two keys.
