Vehicle Description:

Here we have a 2002 Honda S2000 with the 2.0 Liter V-Tec Engine putting out about 247 HP. This Honda S2000 has been a Florida vehicle all its life and has never been in snow. The car is in near perfect shape and has always been maintained at a Honda dealership. Please feel free to call me @ 904-240-8996 Bruce

Vehicle Overview

When Honda’s two-passenger S2000 roadster went on sale as a 2000 model, impatient buyers were willing to pay considerable extra dollars for an early edition. The high-revving sports car was initially available in limited numbers, and it’s still a hot item on the market. According to Automotive News, Honda sold 9,682 S2000 roadsters in the United States in 2001, which represents a substantial increase from the 6,797 units sold in the previous calendar year.

A new glass rear window with a defroster goes on the 2002 model. Honda says the six-speed-manual transmission has been improved to yield smoother and quieter shifts. An upgraded stereo includes door-mounted tweeters. Refined taillights are fitted with chrome rings. Interior refinements include an upgraded console, door-panel net storage pockets, a new aluminum/leather shift knob, an aluminum-accented footrest and silver trim accents. A new high-capacity clutch has also been installed.

The S2000 is Honda’s first rear-wheel-drive car. It packs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and revs to a swift 9,000 rpm. As a result, it feels more like a racecar than a regular sports car. A six-speed-manual gearbox is the sole transmission choice.

Roughly similar to the BMW Z3 in size, the no-holds-barred S2000 has a style and personality all its own, highlighted by its energetic powertrain. Best known for economical and reliable family cars, Honda has offered sporty models before. But this is the company’s first true sports car. It evolved from the SSM concept car that first appeared at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1995. In addition to providing an additional source of sales, the S2000 establishes a clear link with Honda’s racing heritage, which includes several championships in Formula One and Championship Auto Racing Teams competition.

Exterior

Styled in the traditional sports car mode but with a crisp, angular look, the S2000 displays a wedge-shaped profile that stands apart from other roadsters. The S2000 rides a 94.5-inch wheelbase and is 162.2 inches long overall — that’s more than 6 inches longer than the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Measuring 50.6 inches to its rooftop, Honda’s two-seater is 2 inches taller than the Miata. The convertible has a power-operated top that now comes with a glass rear window instead of plastic. A molded top cover is included.

Integrated roll bars sit behind the twin seats. A clear acrylic wind deflector that mounts between the bars helps to reduce turbulence while on the move. High-intensity-discharge headlamps and 16-inch Bridgestone Potenza tires on alloy wheels are standard. Ground clearance with a full load aboard is 4.2 inches.

Interior

Don’t expect to use the space behind the front bucket seats for much more than a sliver of luggage. Storage space is at a premium; there’s a tiny bin between the seats, a single cupholder and a small trunk with only 5 cubic feet in capacity, which is sufficient for two soft suitcases and not much else. The S2000 is strictly a two-seater, with body-hugging leather-trimmed bucket seats. The range of driving positions is limited because the steering wheel doesn’t adjust and the seats must be positioned manually.

Standard equipment includes electric power steering, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, a CD player, tachometer, digital clock, an immobilizer theft-deterrent system, and power windows, door locks and mirrors. The instrument cluster features digital and graphic displays that are adapted from those used in racecars. Aluminum pedals are installed.

Under the Hood

Honda’s 240-hp, 2.0-liter, dual-overhead-cam four-cylinder VTEC engine with a dual-outlet exhaust is made to rev as high as 9,000 rpm, a limit far beyond most cars on the market. It yields 153 pounds-feet of torque at 7,500 rpm. Coupled to a six-speed-manual transmission, the S2000 leaps past its milder-mannered stablemates when pushing the gas pedal to the floor. Honda claims the S2000 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds. Side-impact airbags are not offered, but dual front airbags and all-disc antilock brakes are standard.

Driving Impressions

Simply put, the S2000 is a hot number. If you think you know what a Honda feels like to drive, you’re in for a shock when you slip behind the wheel of the S2000. The differences begin when you try to start the engine. Don’t bother twisting the ignition key in its lock; instead, you’ll need to press the red starter button to fire up the potent four-cylinder. This setup is borrowed from Porsche and other classic sports cars of the past.

At full throttle, you’ll hear a deep, aggressive growl from the engine. Once it reaches approximately 5,000 rpm, the S2000 lunges forward like a virtual rocket. Its engine will scream passionately through each step of the close-ratio six-speed gearbox. As if acceleration prowess weren’t enough, razor-sharp steering, disciplined handling talents and athletic cornering ability blend with excellent braking capacity to produce a driving experience that approaches racecar level. That’s really no surprise, because the S2000 looks as if it’s ready to whip onto a racetrack.

A penalty for all that performance has to be paid in ride comfort — the suspension is stiff, and the S2000 is hardly silent at any speed. In addition, the driver and passenger don’t get a great abundance of room, though space is adequate. Storage space is one disadvantage in the S2000: trunk capacity is small, and the cockpit has no conventional glove box. Plan on traveling light, and don’t earmark the S2000 solely for daily commutes if you want to take full advantage of its performance and vigorous road behavior.

Terms & Conditions

1. Before You Bid

1.1. Read the Vehicle Description and Ask Questions. I spend a lot of time creating my listings, and I make every effort to thoroughly, accurately and fairly describe the vehicles I offer. If you have a specific question or concern, or if I missed something, please feel free to ask. Please keep in mind that I sell pre-owned vehicles. As with any pre-owned vehicle, minor cosmetic flaws may be visible under close inspection.

1.2. Inspect the Vehicle. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle personally or through an inspection service prior to bidding. If you would like to inspect the vehicle, please call to make arrangements. Most of my vehicles are kept inside.

1.3. Be Aware That Vehicles Are Offered As Is/No Warranty Unless Stated. Unless otherwise stated in the vehicle description, the vehicle is being sold “as-is”, with no warranty. I try to accurately and fairly describe any known mechanical or cosmetic issues. However, as with any vehicle, mechanical or other failures may occur from time to time, and I cannot represent or warranty that they will not. You are responsible for any repairs made after the sale.

1.4. Mileage May Vary Slightly. I indicate the mileage of each vehicle at the time of listing. Please note that actual mileage may be slightly higher at the time of the end of the auction and/or delivery as the vehicle may be driven while the auction is underway.

2. Bidding on the Vehicle

2.1. Ready to Bid? If you’re ready to bid, great! Please keep in mind a few requirements and courtesies. Please intend to, and be ready & able to (financially and otherwise), complete the purchase of the vehicle within the timeframes set out herein. Participating just for sport without the intention to complete the transaction is unfair to me and to other users, and it wastes a lot of time and money. I may obtain the registered information of users participating in my auctions, and may filter or cancel any bids in my discretion.

2.2. I May End An Auction Early. "Buy it now" auctions may end at any time if the buy it now feature is exercised or a "best offer" is accepted. I seldom end "no reserve" auctions early. However, I reserve the right to end any auction without notice at any time for any reason in my sole discretion.

3. Completing the Transaction

3.1. Contact Me. If you are the winning bidder, congratulations! You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements for the completion of the transaction. Many of my auctions end well after normal business hours, so sending me a message through eBay is generally the best way.

3.2. Pay a Deposit. You must also pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours after the end of the auction to secure the vehicle.

3.3. Pay the Balance Due. You must pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes – please see 3.5, below) within 3 days after the end of the auction.

3.4. Payment Methods. I accept wire transfers, cashier's checks, and cash in person (under $10,000 only for cash). I accept PayPal for the payment of deposits only. All funds must be in US dollars.

3.5. Fees and Taxes.

3.5.1. Dealer Fee. I charge a $199 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions. This includes winning bids, buy it now prices, and best offers accepted. I don't make exceptions for other licensed dealers. A dealer fee covers administrative papwerork and overnight postage as well as detailing fees for each vehicle.

3.5.2. Sales Tax.

3.5.2.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to collect sales tax at the rate applicable in your county at the time of sale.

3.5.2.2. Out-of-State Buyers. If you have the vehicle shipped to your location, I do not collect any sales tax; you will be responsible for paying your state's sales tax directly. If you come to Florida to pick up the vehicle at my location, I am required to collect either your state's sales tax, or Florida's 6%, whichever is less. Generally, you will receive a credit in your state for sales tax collected here. If I collect our 6% because your state's rate is higher, you will be charged the balance in your state. I always recommend you check with your local tag agency first; although the vast majority of states have a reciprocal sales tax agreement with Florida, a few do not. Some states also have specific forms or procedures that must be used for out-of-state purchases.

3.5.3. Tag & Title.

3.5.3.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to handle your tag and title work, and I collect an estimate of those costs at the time of sale, which range from $150 to $400 depending on your specific situation. If the actual cost of title and registration is less than the estimate, I will refund you the difference; if the actual cost is more that the estimate, you will be required to pay the difference before getting your tag and title. I do not make any money on tax, tag, registration and title fees I collect.

3.5.3.2. Out-of-State Buyers. I will provide you with the vehicle's title, and you will be responsible for handling the tag and title work in your state.

3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially.

3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. However, if you fail to (i) make contact with me, (ii) pay the deposit, (iii) provide me with required signatures/documents, or (iv) pay the remaining balance (including applicable fees, taxes, and charges), within the timeframes set forth herein, I reserve the right to keep your deposit and re-list the vehicle or otherwise sell it as I see fit, without notice, in my sole discretion. I also reserve the right to report the issue to eBay in my sole discretion.

4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle

4.1. Shipping. It is frequently less expensive to have a vehicle shipped to your location than it is to fly in and drive it back, and certainly more hassle-free. I can assist you in finding a shipper and can get very competitive shipping quotes. You pay the shipper directly and are responsible for delivery arrangements. I assume no responsibility for damage to the vehicle incurred after it leaves my premises. Your vehicle will be available to ship out once full payment is received and has cleared; I send out titles once payment has cleared and all other paperwork requirements of the transaction are completed.

4.2. Pick Up. I am located at 2421 St. Johns Bluff Rd S ste 101, Jacksonville, FL 32246. If you plan to fly in, I will pick up at JAX - Jacksonville International Airport. Please contact me to make arrangements if you are planning to pick the vehicle up. Vehicles are available for drive-off once full payment and all paperwork requirements are completed.
