1959 Chevy El Camino – The coolest pickup truck ever built.  I drive this car regularly and it is a fun reliable car with lots of torque.  A good solid fast powerful machine with excellent sheet metal.

Big block Chevy 454 engine

Turbo-400 automatic transmission

Dana 60 posi-traction rear end with 4-link suspension

B&M ratchet shifter

Edelbrock carburetor, intake manifold and valve covers

Hooker headers

CPP power steering box

Heavy Duty Front and Rear sway bars

Mallory HEI distributor

I had heavy-duty rear coil springs installed so that it can be used to haul a load without bottoming out.   It also has new upper and lower ball joints, KYB gas charged shocks, urethane A-arm bushings, brake shoes.  Recent dual exhaust sounds excellent and has a crossover pipe, free flow mufflers in front and cigar glass packs in back.

Everything works.  Except the original AM radio, but I'm not sure if it's hooked up.  The steering and suspension are in good shape.  All lights and signals work right.  The interior looks very good and the correct gauges and clock all work right.  Tires are like new.  It has old split ring wheels on the rear.  The windows roll up and seal properly.  It has a very nice vintage WICO tachometer that works but seems to read high.

I have had this car on a lift and the sheet metal and frame are clean and solid.  The backside of the sheet metal looks good and I can find no sign of sheet metal repair work. Frame is straight.  I can find no rust damage anywhere except on the hood framing near the front (photo).  But it looks like this has been sandblasted and painted and is no longer rusting.  The hood skin is not rusted.  There is a small amount of paint bubbling around the rear right wheel well (photo).

Engine sounds mechanically quiet and tight.  I run it on regular gasoline and it doesn't ping or knockIt starts, idles and runs excellent.  It burns oil but doesn’t seem to smoke more than normal.  I had a valve cover off and noticed a valve stem seal that looked damaged so they’re probably in bad shape.  The big transmission and Dana posi-traction work great; A very heavy-duty drivetrain.  The transmission is full automatic but it also shifts manually with the ratchet shifter.  When operated manually, it shifts the second that the shifter is ratcheted.

Odometer shows 6,400 miles and I don't know actual mileage.  This car has a clean clear WA state title in my name.  The car  comes with manuals but no tools, jack or spare tire are included.

Please send your questions early and I’ll do my best to answer.  The car is near Seattle and serious buyers are welcome to see it.
