1955 Chevy Nomad

"The Chevrolet Nomad was a station wagon model made off and on from 1955 to 1972, and a Chevy Van trim package in the late 1970s and early 1980s, produced by the Chevrolet Division of General Motors. The Nomad is best remembered in its two-door 1955–57 form, and was considered a halo model during its three-year production as a two-door station wagon.Though generally credited to General Motors design domo Harley Earl, its actual creators were Chevrolet studio head Clare MacKichan and stylist Carl Renner. MacKichan's group had suggested a "sport wagon" as one addition to Chevrolet's all-new 1955 line."

 Owned by a Chevy collector, this Nomad was purchased in California from a dealer in 1975 and then sold to a close family friend in 2002.  This is a very rare original California built car with some mechanical and cosmetic improvements over the years. It is an early production number (#11) as shown on the data tag. The original engine is gone and has been replaced by a mid 60's 327. Nicely equipped with a 3 speed manual transmission, overdrive, power brakes, power steering, power windows, power seat. and chrome plated brass trim only used on early production models. The exterior had one repaint in 1974 that is showing its' age.  The interior seats appear to have been redone to original and are in excellent condition, as is the exterior chrome and trim.  This car would be a great find for a Chevy collector looking to bring it back to original condition.  What follows are some details.
