1959 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible ULTRA RARE! 389. Tri-Power. A/C. SEE VIDEO

1959 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. Ultra Rare! Concours Restoration

The new, "wide track" Pontiac for 1959 was named Motor Trend magazine's "Car of the Year." And of all of the models to roll out of Pontiac that year, certainly the rarest was this configuration: The 1959 Bonneville Convertible equipped with 389 cubic inch 345 HP V-8 with Tri-Power Carburetion, Strato-Flight Automatic Transmission, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows and Bucket Seats with hard shell backs. In a word: SPECTACULAR!

While today, most think of the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible as the epitome of 50's automotive styling, that's probably because so few of the 1959 Pontiac Bonneville Convertibles were produced in this configuration. The fact is, this Pontiac with the 389/Tri-Power engine will run away from a 1959 Cadillac! The Pontiac is lighter, sleeker and faster than just about anything else on the road in the day.

This particular car has been collector owned for many years. It received a full frame-off concours quality restoration in 2006. The body is entirely rust-free and was stripped to bare metal before painting in correct Mandalay Red color. All trim (inside and out) was re-chromed. The incredibly detailed upholstery, which is unique to these models, was recreated and is correct in every detail. New white top and boot. All hydraulics rebuilt including top and window cylinders. All operate smooth and fast.

The 389 cubic inch V8 was completely rebuilt along with the automatic transmission, power steering and power brake systems. The only item needing attention today is the factory air conditioning. All major components are present but not hooked up. Radio and heater/defroster are rebuilt and work well. All gauges register accurately. New tires.

Once completed, the car resided in a private museum and was driven sparingly. It was purchased by the current owner in 2011 and added to his prominent collection here in the Pacific Northwest. It is only because of the recent untimely passing of the current owner that this car is being offered for sale by his family to help settle the estate. Today it has a total of just 1,280 miles on the odometer since restoration. Please see photos and video, which were taken last week. For all intents and purposes it is probably as close to a "new" 1959 car as you can get in 2013.

FYI, the last time this car traded hands in 2011, it sold for $115,000. (Yes, it's that good.)

It is offered today with a realistic reserve, WELL BELOW the previous purchase price. Please bid accordingly.

This is an exceptionally rare automobile that is ready to drive anywhere. Fly-in and drive it home. Oregon is beautiful this time of year!

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
