1966 Honda Dream Motorcycle

- 27k Miles

Soichiro Honda started out building mopeds after the end of World War II. Wildly popular, Soichiro soon grew his business producing his first D-type motorcycle in the early 1950's. These D-type motorcycles were built with a rigid pressed-steel frame and telescopic forks heavily influenced by BMW motorcycles of the 1930's. In 1955 Honda toured various European Motorcycle manufacturers studying their production facilities and processes and the design of their bikes. Once home, Soichiro who was a remarkable engineer, used the information he gathered on his trip to transform his moped business into one of the world's leading motorcycle companies. Honda created a new generation of lightweight, yet sturdy framed bikes utilizing a free revving twin-cylinder OHC design motor that was both fast and responsive, featuring electric starters and did not leak oil. Honda's designs transformed the industry making the Honda name a worldwide brand. Featured here for sale is a 1966 Honda Dream 305.

This motorcycle has been lightly restored and is largely in original condition and a very clean vintage motorcycle, originally from California with 27,000 miles on it. It is powered by a 305cc air-cooled OHC parallel twin-cylinder engine that is factory rated at 23hp @ 7,500rpm. Weighing just 350lbs this bike accelerates quickly to a top speed of 90mph. The lightweight of this motorcycle is due to a frame made up of metal stampings welded together to create the frame, headstock and rear bumper which integrates the motor acting as a stressed member. The front forks are also made of stamp steeled and utilize a leading-link front fork suspension which provides a soft ride. This unique construction also gives this bike its unique look along with its squared off headlight.

Highly collectible, these motorcycles are also very reliable, easy to maintain with parts readily available, and most importantly these motorcycles are lots of fun to ride. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
