The second generation Z-car, the 280ZX debuted as a 1979 model. While body and interior were a complete redesign, the L28E 2.8 liter inline 6-cylinder was carried over from the 280Z. The result was  improved fuel economy and emissions and quiet the cabin for better long distance cruising.
