2004 Dodge Neon SRT 4

2004 Dodge Neon SRT 4

If Chrysler had built all the Neons like the SRT4’s were built, they would have never stopped making them. Everything about the SRT 4 package makes this vehicle feel more Japanese tuner like than the econo box Neons ever were. Solid, stiff, and with an undeniable quality, these vehicles somehow were produced at the end of the Neon line instead of the beginning. It’s really too bad because this is a super car in all respects.

I purchased this vehicle when I was still a Dodge dealer. Surprisingly, I bought it used out of the newspaper. When new, the SRT’s were so incredibly hot sellers, that I wouldn’t consider taking a commission away from a salesman by collecting one of these cars. About three years later, I realized that every SRT 4 out there was being raced, modified, or wrecked. These cars were hugely popular with the tuners and we sold mopar performance parts out of the catalogue for these at a higher rate than we ever sold for Vipers. They were never traded in, and always sold private party. At car shows, I would look at these because I liked them and beyond modifications, they were always bottomed, bumped off of curbs, and generally used what they were built for but used very, very hard.

What’s wrong with the car: Absolutely nothing. When I purchased this vehicle we put it up on the lift and it had been owned by a normal guy who thought he was buying a really nice Neon, not a racecar. The front wake inducer (plastic spoiler all the way underneath the car that produces turbulence to pull air through the radiator intercooler assembly) was not even scraped – these pieces are usually torn off and anybody who actually knows cars understands the implications of perfection with that statement. Even the original floor mats still in plastic and the mopar ash tray in a box are in the trunk of this vehicle.

Who am I? My name is Dave. I have been restoring cars for 35 years. My first collector car was when I was 15 years old. I've had three major collections and now it's time to sell my last one. My personal taste run to the eclectic.

I have picked out or restored these vehicles to be some of the finest in the world of these types.

I was a Dodge dealer for 27 years, selling 1600 to 2000 cars a year - that was my business.

These cars are my passion.
