I am offering my personal 1964 Cadillac convertible.  How and why I'm selling this Cadillac is rather simple.  This was the car I was going to take to my retirement home in California.  I had intended this to be my last restoration.   I had gone through it mechanically, put a new correct leather interior in, new top, fitted a cd changer in the trunk and every other thing you could do a vintage car.  I decided to load it up with all my last remnants of my old life in Ohio and drive to Palm Springs.  Well outside Greenfield, IN I suffered a massive tire failure. The right rear tire exploded with such force that the fender skirt was blown off the car.  And yes they were new Cooper Tires with under 2,000 miles on them.  Even with 2 fire extinguishers and the help of a Indiana State Trooper, who was 10 cars behind me,  we could not control the fire.  The fire travelled up to the convertible top well.  And within 2 minutes this was the result.  The vast majority of the damage was in the interior compartment, with some in the trunk area.  Since the fire was very fast it did not warp the body panels.   Everything ahead of the firewall was untouched.

This vintage Cadillac would make a wonderful basis for a Resto-Mod!

Up until this point the car was running magnificently.  Just cruising on Interstate 70 on a beautiful summer day with Frank Sinatra on the cd changer.  I had driven 350 miles when this happened.  This horrible event came out of the proverbial blue sky.  And since this fire on May 30th I have been trying to reconstruct my life.  In the glove box were the certified copies of my birth certificate, my passport, banking information and all the important papers you normally keep lock up.

I finally settled with the insurance company, bought the salvage back as I thought I wanted to "re-restore" the car.  After looking at the photos I decided I just don't have the heart to do the job.  To be quite honest every time I view the photos I get sick.  Hence the sale.  I welcome your phone calls, my phone number is 216-470-2146.  I am a member of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club, the AACA, and numerous of other car clubs.

As I stated before this car was a total rust free car.  Originaly sold in Franklin, TN I purchased it after looking as 20+ 64 Cadillac Convertibles.  The frame and floors still had the original paint marks on them.  The doors still open and close perfectly.  And it was one of the best color combos, white exterior, red interior with a  black top.

So if you are in need of parts for a 1964 Cadillac this car would be a perfect source.  A true RUST FREE convertible frame.  The chrome was redone within the last year.  A REBUILT ENGINE.  This car ran wonderfully and I believe that with spark and gas the engine would fire up instantly.  Even installed a pointless ignition and new battery within a month of the fire.

The car is currently being stored my a very good friend in Cleveland, OH and may be viewed there.  I do have a Ohio "Salvage" title in my name.  I have placed a reasonable reserve on the car as I am cognisent of value of the parts.  It you need a rebuilt engine, or transmission, or RUST FREE frame, or chrome this is the easy way to go.

Please call me personally at 216-470-2146 if you have any questions about my Cadillac.  Thanks for looking and good luck.
