I AM PROUD TO OFFER THIS AMAZING CAR FOR SALE. THIS IS MY PERSONNEL VEHICLE AND HAVE OWNED IT FOR 5 YEARS NOW MOST OF THE CAREFUL MILES ARE GOING TO CANADA AND FLORIDA. THE CAR SITS IN MY GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME. NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE MILEAGE ON THIS TRUCK ITS NOT UNCOMMON TO DRIVE THIS SRX TO OVER 300,000 MILES. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THE CARE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER YOU LOOK AT THE PHOTOS YOU WILL SEE SHE HAS BEEN BABIED. DONT BE SWAYED BY THE V-8 THE GAS MILEAGE IS ALMOST THE SAME AND A V-8 WILL LAST LONGER THAN A V-6

APPEARANCE: Love it or hate it, Cadillac's angular ``Art and Science'' look is definitely its own, inspired by and copying no one else in the auto industry. The SRX, like the CTS, is all crisp angles and slightly-curved planes. It's a muscular but not muscle-bound vehicle, a larger, two-box version of the CTS in looks, with the newest version of the Cadillac vee-shaped egg-crate grille flanked by vertically-stacked faired headlamps in the style of the company's XLR sports car. A strong character line defines each side, and there is no lower cladding. Thin vertical taillights are part of Cadillac heritage, and grace the rear of the vehicle. Cadillac considers the SRX to be the first of a new ``S'' series of vehicles, and as such it is a preview of future styling directions.

COMFORT: There is plenty of room inside of the SRX, and good design and attention to detail make the most of it. The styling builds on that of the CTS, with an instrument panel featuring the same textured materials and PC-like center stack. Burled wood trim enhances the doors, dash, and console. Covered compartments in the doors add convenience. The front buckets have very good comfort and support, and are power-adjustable of course, as is just about everything including the pedals. The outboard portions of the rear seat are contoured in a similar way to the front, and are just as comfortable. Leg and head space are at the head of the class. The second row splits 60/40; the cushions tumble forward and the backs fold flat for useful cargo carrying ability. Cadillac is well-known for interesting gadgetry, and the optional third-row seat is the shining example in the SRX. It's tight for adults, but should delight young children. It's power-adjustable - with the touch of a button the back angle can be changed, and another button folds it flat into the floor. If that's not enough, check out the ``UltraView'' full-length sunroof for the view of the sky and scenery above.

SAFETY: The Sigma platform used by the 2004 Cadillac SRX is designed for strength and crashworthiness, with a heavily-reinforced structure and safety cage around the passenger compartment. Four- wheel antilock disc brakes are standard, as is the latest version of the ``Stabilitrak'' stability control system.

ROADABILITY: With a regular SUV, ``sport'' is what you do when you get to your destination. With the SRX, the sport is in the driving. It is at home anywhere - on the highway, around town, and especially on the sort of twisting secondary roads that are the province of sports cars. Although not light in weight, the SRX is light on its feet. Its eight inches of clearance should be adequate for logging roads, not to mention urban curbs, chuckholes, and road debris. And, despite its high stance, the SRX's weight is carried low. With its rigid chassis, good weight distribution, and sport-tuned independent suspension, the SRX has the road manners of a European sports sedan. The ``Luxury Performance Package,'' includes magnetically-controlled suspension and all- wheel drive. Gild the lily...this improves damping control and traction, with no reduction in comfort. The SRX is as quiet as expected, for low-fatigue touring.

PERFORMANCE: The SRX V8 uses the newest version of Cadillac's acclaimed 4.6-liter ``Northstar'' engine, now with variable valve timing to increase power and the spread of useful power. It's shared with Cadillac's flagship XLR luxury-sports roadster, and makes 320 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 315 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. At nearly 4,500 lbs, the AWD SRX is no lightweight, but the Northstar gets it down the road very quickly, with great gobs of power at all engine speeds. The five-speed automatic is smooth in operation and can usually just be left in ``D.'' To play with the sports cars, put the lever in manual mode, drop it into second or third, and enjoy. This is a world-class powertrain.

Cadillac SRX, sports car meets crossover sport utility. Sport wins, with plenty of utility as well. It's a win-win situation.

The UAW's 'record contract' hinges on pensions, battery plants

Thu, Oct 12 2023

DETROIT - After nearly four weeks of disruptive strikes and hard bargaining, the United Auto Workers and the Detroit Three automakers have edged closer to a deal that could offer record-setting wage gains for nearly 150,000 U.S. workers. General Motors, Ford Motor and Chrysler parent Stellantis have all agreed to raise base wages by between 20% and 23% over a four-year deal, according to union and company statements. Ford and Stellantis have agreed to reinstate cost-of-living adjustments, or COLA. The companies have offered to boost pay for temporary workers and give them a faster path to full-time, full-wage status. All three have proposed slashing the time it takes a new hire to get to the top UAW pay rate. The progress in contract talks follows the first-ever simultaneous strike by the UAW against Detroit's Big Three automakers. The union began the strike on Sept. 15 in hopes of forcing a better deal from each major automaker. But coming close to a deal is not the same thing as reaching a deal. Big obstacles remain on at least two major UAW demands: restoring the retirement security provided by pre-2007 defined benefit pension plans, and covering present and future joint- venture electric vehicle battery plants under the union's master contracts with the automakers. On retirement, none of the automakers has agreed to restore pre-2007 defined-benefit pension plans for workers hired after 2007. Doing so could force the automakers to again burden their balance sheets with multibillion-dollar liabilities. GM and the former Chrysler unloaded most of those liabilities in their 2009 bankruptcies. The union and automakers have explored an approach to providing more income security by offering annuities as an investment option in their company-sponsored 401(k) savings plans, people familiar with the discussions said. Stellantis referred to an annuity option as part of a more generous 401(k) proposal on Sept. 22. Annuities or similar instruments could give UAW retirees assurance of fixed, predictable payouts less dependent on stock market ups and downs, experts said. Recent changes in federal law have removed obstacles to including annuities as a feature of corporate 401(k) plans, said Olivia Mitchell, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and an expert on pensions and retirement. "Retirees want a way to be assured they won't run out of money," Mitchell said.

Cadillac XT5 confirmed for 2016 as next-gen SRX

Wed, Jun 10 2015

Cadillac's entire lineup of 2016 models gets a major infotainment upgrade this summer with improvements to CUE and integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's one major exception for now, though. The SRX retains the old system until its all-new generation, called the XT5, debuts early in the 2016 calendar year. "When we transition into all new product lines, we will evolve the naming convention to suit the new classification we have announced. So SRX becomes XT5 next year," company spokesman David Caldwell said in an email to Autoblog. Earlier spy shots and rumors suggest the XT5 might be offered with a turbocharged four-cylinder and naturally aspirated six-cylinder engines, plus a nine-speed automatic transmission. For the rest of Cadillac's models, CarPlay arrives with the launch of the 2016 vehicles, and Android Auto joins later. Using either of them requires a connection via USB, and they add a new projection icon on the CUE screen. Once activated, both systems integrate with driver's phone and incorporate features like navigation, music, and contacts. They can also accept voice commands. Even for those that don't want to hook up a smartphone, CUE should work better thanks to a more powerful processor. Start-up times for the infotainment system are expected to be faster, and Cadillac claims that it's also more responsive for voice recognition, navigation searches, and media. The navigation interface is simplified, as well. The Escalade, CTS, and XTS can now be ordered with a 360-degree camera system to display on the screen. Cadillac Enhances Phone Integration for 2016 Models with Apple CarPlay, CUE Upgrades APPLE CARPLAY AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH; ANDROID AUTO COMING LATER IN MODEL YEAR 2015-06-09 NEW YORK – Cadillac's 2016 model year products will feature enhanced connectivity and control, including the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the predominant new systems for in-car phone integration. These additions are part of a broader enhancement of CUE, Cadillac's user experience, with new features and a faster, streamlined operation. Apple CarPlay will debut in 2016 Cadillac models featuring CUE's 8-in multi-touch screen except the SRX Crossover, a model that will move to an all-new generation in early 2016. Android Auto is expected to be phased into 2016 production at a later date. The 2016 model year will begin this summer.

Cadillac is returning to endurance racing with a new prototype in 2017

Wed, Nov 30 2016

In two months, Cadillac will return to top-tier endurance racing with its all-new Daytona Prototype International racecar after 14 years away. The car, which adheres to IMSA's new DPi regulations, looks as long, low, and Cadillac-like as anyone could have hoped. It's set to debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and will compete head to head with the likes of Mazda and Nissan in what is shaping up to be one of the most diverse and exciting forms of American motor racing in years. The new car will be run by Wayne Taylor Racing, the team that previously fielded the Corvette Daytona Prototype. Wayne Taylor himself has won the 24 Hours of Daytona twice, in 1996 and 2005. He now manages the team and leaves the driving duties to his two sons, Ricky and Jordan. They'll be joined in the cockpit by Max Angelelli, Wayne Taylor's teammate in 2002 at Cadillac's last unsuccessful attempt at endurance racing. To understand Cadillac's new car, officially called the DPi-V.R., you need to understand IMSA's DPi category. Basically, manufacturers are allowed to base their car on one of four chassis that follow the FIA LMP2 regulations. The chassis come from either Dallara, Onroak Automotive, ORECA or Riley/Multimatic. Cadillac will base their car on the Dallara platform. The DPi regulation differ from the LMP2 in two major ways: non-standardized engines and the ability to change certain parts of the bodywork. The DPi regulations are intended to give the variety of the top-tier LMP1 cars at a fraction of the cost. When it came to choosing an engine, Cadillac wanted to power the new car with something kinda sorta production based. The new car will use a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter pushrod V8 that shares some base architecture with the engine in the current CTS-V. While the power output hasn't been announced, expect about 600 horsepower. While that's down compared to the CTS-V, there is far less mass to move around as the Dallara chassis is a svelte 2,050 lbs. Since all the teams will be running different engine configurations, expect restrictors of some sort to help balance the power disparity. The parts of the body work that can be modified - The nose, sidepods, rear wheel arches and rear valance - have all been designed to mimic Cadillac roadcar design elements. Even the wheels look like they were pulled straight from the CTS-V. The front splitter, the floor, and the diffuser are common elements shared with other DPi cars.
