2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs Tesla Model Y, Audi E-Tron, Jaguar I-Pace | Specs compared

Wed, Apr 21 2021

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the latest electric luxury crossover to enter a quickly growing segment. It brings with it the company's trademark creased design language along with high-tech features and an impressive amount of range. The Cadillac also happens to have a price and specifications that put it square in the middle of a competitive group, so we had to line up the numbers to see how it compares. We've gathered up a selection of premium electric crossovers including the Tesla Model Y, Audi E-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace, all of which seem like the closest rivals for the Cadillac. We've assembled all the raw numbers in the chart below. We've also got some additional analysis below that. And now, onto the data. Power, range, efficiency Interestingly, the Cadillac is the least powerful of the bunch. This is a bit surprising considering that GM will have a 1,000-horsepower electric Hummer pickup coming out soon. But in the Lyriq, Cadillac only uses a single electric motor powering the rear wheels. While its 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque should be more than adequate, it falls short of all the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive competition. Because Tesla does not provide horsepower or torque numbers, we're not sure how much the base model makes. We assume it's close. The true power fiends will likely want the optionally available Model Y Performance, though. It also doesn't have publicized power numbers, but its 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds suggests its substantially more powerful than the other crossovers, here. Power is all well and good, but range is arguably more important for an electric car. The Tesla is on top, here. The base Long Range trim has an estimated range of 326 miles. The company doesn't specifically say how large the battery is for it or the Performance, which goes 303 miles. The Cadillac is close behind with a current estimate of more than 300 miles on its 100-kWh battery. Cadillac doesn't say whether that number is the gross amount or the usable amount. The Audi and Jaguar lag behind with less than 250 miles from their 95- and 90-kWh batteries, respectively. Audi is the only company that notes that the usable capacity is less than the total, which is a common strategy employed to extend the life of the battery and to maintain consistent ranges over time. 2020 Audi E-Tron View 13 Photos While not as broadly discussed as range, we also wanted to touch on efficiency.

2021 Cadillac Escalade shown inside and out in leaked photos

Wed, Dec 11 2019

Fresh off the official reveals of the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, here come leaked images showing the redesigned version of their upmarket sibling, the Cadillac Escalade, inside and out. The images were posted on Instagram by user @allcarnews, with a hat tip to Jalopnik, and give us our best look yet at the unadorned exterior and the new interior.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by A L L C A R N E W S (@allcarnews) on Dec 11, 2019 at 12:22am PST Let’s start with the body design of the large luxury SUV, with bears strong echoes of both the aforementioned Suburban and Yukon, albeit with a chrome stripe along the lower doors and chrome trim framing the windows. Then thereÂ’s the redesigned grille, which looks like a larger-maw version of the XT6Â’s grille and adopts the same horizontal LED headlights. Instagram commenters also liken the exterior to the new XT6, CadillacÂ’s smaller three-row crossover, and even the Hyundai Palisade. The swept-back, slightly tapered rear end in profile even reminds us a little of the Lincoln Aviator. All of which will beg the question of whether Cadillac has done enough to distinguish its flagship SUV to compete against the Lincoln Navigators of the world.             View this post on Instagram                   (UPDATED) LEAKED: 2021 Escalade ? _____________________________________ [12/11/19] (NEW INTERIOR SHOTS) CadillacÂ’s Escalade for 2021 has been leaked and well.. the exterior is subjective.. What I will point out is the side profile which is unfortunately still identical to the Tahoe & Suburbab albeit with a chrome bar on the bottom and chrome window frame trim. The rear gets full sized LED verticals taillights again, but now more integrated into the rear. The front is big and loud but looks like a blown up XT6. After reading your comments, it seems a mixed bag, especially with the horizontal headlights (which i lightened to show the elements) but the massive verticals LED DRLÂ’s remain thankfully. ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? ????????? ? @Allcarnews Spec Sheet: Powertrain wise there will be a carry over 6.2L 420HP+ V8 paired to a 10 speed auto gearbox. A supercharged V8 version (or TT V8) will be coming in the future with up to 650HP in some sort of V designation. Expect blacked out wheels, trim and grille. ? ???????????? ???????????? ??????????? Expect the Cadillac Lyriq EV to start under $60k

Thu, Aug 13 2020

The recently unveiled Cadillac Lyriq EV will lead the brand's transformation to an all-EV lineup. And while the Lyriq is not expected to go on sale until late 2022, we now have some idea how much it's going to cost. That word comes from what should be a reliable source: GM North American president (and former Cadillac division president) Steve Carlisle. Speaking at the JP Morgan Auto Conference, as reported by Automotive News, Carlisle said, "This car will need to be priced similar to how the industry prices mid-size luxe SUVs today, maybe a slight premium at the outset. It's a price that won't be high five digits. It won't start with a seven, and it won't start with a six." So, the high $50s, then. The Lyriq is similar in size to today's Cadillac XT5, although it's nearly four inches lower and rides on a longer wheelbase. Pricing for the current XT5 ranges from $45,090 to $56,090 plus destination. The Lyriq will be available in rear-wheel-drive or higher-performance all-wheel-drive form. Range is expected to be at least 300 miles. The Lyriq is the first of a new family of EVs, as Cadillac plans to offer electric vehicles in every segment in which the brand currently competes. That means there should be a smaller, less expensive Cadillac EV as well — something akin to today's XT4, which would mean a Cadillac EV priced under $40k. But additional models, at higher and lower price points, would follow the Lyriq to market. Related Video:
