This immaculate 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood only has 39k well documented miles.

The Brougham Coupe made up just over 10% of the Fleetwood production for 1984. This body began production in 1980 to appease the loyal Cadillac owners that were disgruntled over the 79 Eldorado Biarritz being drastically down sized. This full sized coupe with all it's trimmings filled the "personal luxury" spot well and production ran through midyear of 1985.  Very few of these were saved and finding a good one often takes years to find.  On any given day you can find a nice low mile Eldorado of this generation but the low mile Fleetwood Coupes are very scarce and have become very sought after. The demand for this body amongst collectors have more than doubled in the last 5 years as many Cadillac aficionados are snapping the best examples up for their collections. 1985 was the very last year for this incredible body style and from a design standpoint was GM at it's finest hour. These Brougham Coupes were the last of a classic style era which will never be produced again.

1984 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Coupe in Sable Black(19) with Bordeaux Red(79) Leather interior.

I have had the privilege of owning several of these Brougham Coupes in my 20+ years of Cadillac collecting, and this particular example is hands down the most striking of them all. This particular Fleetwood was a one-owner car and has always been collector owned and garage kept.  With only 39k miles, this Cadillac needs no excuses and stands well to be a very lucrative long term investment. The best resale colors for these are black, red, blue and white with black leading the pack because of it's rarity. Having leather interior ads even more value to this low mile example.

This Cadillac has been professionally detailed and could be put directly into a car show as it sits.

This Cadillac spins heads and gets many a thumbs up.

The bumper rub strips are like new with no scrapes.

All lenses are clear and free of cracks.

Dripping with chrome.

Rare factory wire wheels.

This Fleetwood Coupe was ordered with a generous list of options, with a sticker price of almost $27k whereas a base Fleetwood stickered for $21,219. Some of these options include; Leather Seating Area($680), Twilight Sentinel($85), Guidematic Head lamp Control($128),  Power Passenger seat recliner w/six-way power seat($380),  Wire Wheels Option($820), Electric Remote-control Outside Mirrors($101), Symphony Sound AM/FM Cassette with CB($570), Illuminated Vanity Mirrors Driver and Passenger($140), Illuminated Entry System($80), Rear Window Defogger including Heated Outside Mirrors($220), and the list goes on.

GM's highest paint process and quality control went into the Corvettes and the Cadillac division.

Turn signal and cornering light lenses are clear and free of cracks.

To see this Cad in person will give you goose bumps.

Aside from the filler panels which where recently replaced and re painted with a perfect color match, this car has factory paint all the way around and is very glossy. No fading anywhere on this car.

Class at every angle.

The body is straight as an arrow.

.

Not a single door ding in this Cadillac. None.

Again, beautiful chrome with no rubs on the bumper rub strips. Tail light lenses are clear and as new.

Vinyl Landau top is as new,,,gorgeous.

Glossy Sable Black Paint

Chrome rocker panels are like the rest of the car,,,gorgeous.

 Luscious chrome and factory stripe.

Standard of Excellence

Drivers seat leather perfection.

This Fleetwood is so fresh. Door panels are plump and free of cracks. Door jambs and hinge area are free of any rust or corrosion all the way around.

Time capsule.

The leather in this car is amazing.

39k miles. Perfect Carfax on this Cadillac

Has all of the original floor mats plus the trunk mat.

I would hop in this car and drive it anywhere.

This Cadillac runs very smooth and quiet and shifts beautifully.

Cadillac CT6 gets a plug in Shanghai, will come to US

Mon, Apr 20 2015

Don't call it the third coming of the Chevy Volt. The unsurprising debut of the Cadillac CT6 PHEV in Shanghai today has a powertrain that sounds an awful lot like the one that can be found in the Volt and the Cadillac ELR. The plug-in CT6 – identical to the CT6 that debuted in New York earlier this month – has an 18.4-kWh lithium-ion battery (just like the 2016 Volt) and offers an all-electric range of around 37 miles. It also copies the "Regen on Demand" feature from the new Volt and the battery cells "use the latest generation cell chemistry found in other GM plug-in vehicles." But Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen doesn't see the two powertrains as similar in at least one important way. General Motors calls the Volt and the ELR "extended range electric vehicles" (EREV) but in a statement, de Nysschen says that the plug-in hybrid CT6 is, "an ideal platform for Cadillac to offer its first plug-in hybrid." That GM is using the PHEV terminology rather than EREV is going to be important to some, even if the practical difference is only semantic. And yes, we all understand the irony of de Nysschen – the same guy who has a history of speaking ill of plug-in cars – hyping them now. Back when he worked for Audi, he said the original Volt was too expensive for what it offered and was thus, a car for "idiots." Speaking in Shanghai today, de Nysschen said the new CT6 PHEV was, "an EV without any of the disadvantages or range constraints," according to Automotive News. If the batteries are similar to GM's other EREV/PHEV cars, the CT6 powertrain is at least different. The ELR uses a 1.4-liter engine, while the new Volt has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder mill. The CT6, on the other hand, has a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with direct injection. There is also an "all-new rear wheel electric variable transmission (EVT) with exclusively designed motors," that will give the CT6 PHEV, "smooth, spirited acceleration." The EVT is a two-motor-unit that uses three planetary gears. Maximum overall system output is 335 horsepower and 432 pound-feet of torque. Perhaps most interesting for American audiences is the fact that GM's press release, available below, makes multiple references to US-market sales of the PHEV. Official details on the EV range and fuel economy will be made available closer to the car's US launch.

GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design

Sat, Jun 6 2015

General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures. Andrew Smith, who previously did that job and also coordinated the look for Cadillac, has remained in charge of the pen at Caddy with this shift. Nesbitt rose to prominence when he designed the Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to Automotive News. He joined GM in 2001 and has been there ever since in multiple high-level roles. In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there. In addition, John Cafaro becomes the person in charge of the look for Chevy globally, rather than previously splitting that role between cars and trucks with Parkinson. GM Global Design Leadership Changes – effective June 1, 2015. Bryan Nesbitt, Design Vice President, GM China will repatriate to North America and assume the position of Executive Director, Global Buick and Global Architectures. He will be located in Warren, MI. Bryan will be the design Champion for Buick in the US and China. Ken Parkinson, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture will assume the position of Design Vice President, GM China. He will be based in Shanghai, China. Andrew Smith, Executive Director, Global Cadillac and Buick Design will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Cadillac. He will continue to be the design Champion for the Cadillac brand. In addition, he will continue to lead the Global Color & Trim team. He will be based in Warren, Michigan. John Cafaro, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Cars will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Chevrolet. He will be the design Champion for Chevrolet. In addition, John will lead the exterior components and accessories team. He will continue to be based in Warren, MI. The roles and responsibilities of Helen Emsley, Mark Adams, Carlos Barba, Clay Dean, Michael Simcoe, and Teckla Rhoades remain the same. Trucks and tidbits from GM's earnings report

Wed, Feb 6 2019

General Motors announced this morning that 2018 was a good year for it financially, thanks in large part to the company's performance in North America, which was predicated, according to the company, on "strong pricing, surging crossover sales, successful execution of the company's full-size truck launch, growth of GM Financial earnings, and disciplined cost control." GM reported full-year income of $8.1 billion and EBIT-adjusted income of $11.8 billion. Crossover sales in 2018 were 1,034,808, an increase of 7 percent compared to 2017 deliveries. Throw in the body-on-frame SUVs and the ute number is a total 1,295,700. But let's face it: It is the trucks that really matter. The Chevy Silverado and Colorado, the GMC Sierra and Canyon. Altogether, GM sold 973,463 pickups in the U.S. in 2018. Although Ford gets bragging rights for F-Series sales, GM gets to point out that it has a greater aggregate number. An important factor regarding the trucks and the reported income is that during the last quarter, more than 90 percent of the new 2019 trucks were crew cabs (which have a higher sticker), and at GMC more than 70 percent were Denali and AT4 models (which have even higher stickers). According to reporting by Bloomberg, GM's pickup trucks combine for $65 billion in annual revenue. Clearly when the 2018 sales of the Silverado — 585,581— dwarf the combined sales of both Buick (206,863) and Cadillac combined (154,702), pickups are what matter to the overall health of the company in a way that it is difficult to otherwise achieve. The "disciplined cost control" is something that is very much in the public eye right now, as the company is taking out thousands of its workers, and there is still the "unallocated" plant situation and other plants that will remain under capacity. The numbers in GM's earnings report probably made Unifor members' heads explode in consternation, coming fresh off their Super Bowl ad: " GM, you may have forgotten our generosity, but we'll never forget your greed." But there are a couple of curiosities in the full GM earnings release. One is that so far as its autonomous efforts go, it mentions only that (1) in the first quarter of 2018 Cruise introduced a production-ready autonomous vehicle, and (2) Cruise attracted $5 billion in external capital from SoftBank and Honda. Not a whole lot of love for autonomy. Good thing they have the trucks to fund the program, to say nothing of the external capital.
