Cool 1963 Cadillac Fleetwood Convertible Parade Car Up For Auction With NO RESERVE 91k, 390 V8. Options include power windows, power steering, power brakes, power bench seat and "Autotronic Eye". I bought the Caddy two years ago in from the son of an older gentleman in Pennsylvania who owned it since the early 80's. I've put about 2000 miles on the Caddy since I've had it. Mechanical: since I've had the Caddy I've done a few things to make it a dependable driver. I've replaced the power steering pump, new muffler and pipes, new radiator (it was sent out and recored, that job alone was almost $700), new valve cover gaskets, installed a new generator, new battery, new belts and hoses and a full tuneup. I will include lots of extra parts, including a new brake booster and an additional set of door panels. The glass was removed from the doors when the roof was done: I have the complete set, tinted glass, no cracks, including the brackets and lift arms, they'll be in the trunk. The transmission has developed a slight drip recently, I haven't looked into it, I just add fluid when necessary. The linkage for the tranny needs to be adjusted, reverse is all the way to the right and sometimes you have to move the shifter into reverse a couple of times before it engages. The power seat stopped working last summer, I'm not sure if it's the switch or the seat motor. My mechanic told me the engine was probably rebuilt at some point, no noises from anywhere, even when starting her up after sitting for a month or two. Cosmetic: the Caddy got new paint in 2005. No bodywork was necessary, the Fleetwood is solid through and through, never rusted, never hit. At the same time the roof was professionally removed with all the cut areas upholstered in padded vinyl. People generally think it's a real convertible until they notice it's a four door. To be clear, the Caddy has NO ROOF. I have a perfectly sized tarp with bungee hooks I will include that covers the top area, it's withstood heavy rain without a problem when necessary. All the doors close easily. The seats were reupholstered in velour at the same time the paint was done. The original radio still works through the dash as does the power antenna. A modern radio is mounted under the dash, with 6x9 speakers on the rear deck as seen in the pix, it sounds great. The chrome and brightwork is in pretty good original condition, no pitting, the bumpers shine nicely. The rear bumper has one small dent near the center as seen in the pix. The underside is as clean as the rest or the car, floors, trunk and frame are near spotless. The driver's floor had a square of heavy sheetmetal put in to cover a small soft spot, the rest of the floor pans are rock solid. The previous owner told me he spent close to $4000 on the paint job and customization alone. The conversion to a parade car was done properly. Extra steel was welded onto the frame when the conversion was done, the Caddy has no flexing at all, even with five people in it; the doors close easily and line up perfectly, no slamming necessary and she actually handles pretty well in turns considering her size. The paint could use a good compounding. I had the door panels redone by an upholstery shop in pink and black, they look like new. I also put in new original style black hook and loop carpet. Dash has no cracks. I have the original windshield wiper arms and metal wiper blade holders in the trunk, I took them off for a cleaner look. All the directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work, even the cool fender indicators. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly, 325 HP 390 V8 moves this big girl easily up the highway with LOTS of power. The Caddy tracks straight and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly and the suspension is luxurious. Overall, drives like an American classic luxury car should. I
reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale
locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can
assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of
shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a good door to
door auto shipper if you need it. You can see the Fleetwood in a couple of movies coming out in the next year or so: "Blood Ties" and "Zero Stress", the Fleetwood appearing in multiple scenes in both. I recommend registering the car with your local "Picture Cars" company; it's hard to find early 60's convertible Caddies and this looks like the real thing. I've probably got over $9000 into Caddy; I never planned on selling her, but at the moment I need the cash more than the car. Lots of fun to drive, she's a really cool cruiser. Nice custom Caddy which is as much fun to drive as to look at! Be prepared for waves and honking. Any questions feel free to email or call 914-224-3230

GM announces 3 new recalls affecting 1.7M vehicles in North America [w/video]
Mon, Mar 17 2014Still embroiled in the ongoing ignition switch recall, General Motors announced today three more discrete recalls, affecting a grand total of 1,546,900 vehicles in the US. The Detroit News reports that some 1.7 million vehicles are affected overall in North America. The first and largest of the trio of new recalls concerns some 1.18-million Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia crossovers from the 2008-2013 model years, Chevrolet Traverse from 2009-2013 (pictured above) and Saturn Outlook vehicles from 2008-2010. All of the crossover utilities may have an issue with the wiring harness for their seat-mounted side airbags. Apparently, the vehicles are equipped with a Service Air Bag warning light that, if ignored, "will eventually result in the non-deployment of the side impact restraints." Those restraints include the side airbags, a front-center airbag if the vehicle is so equipped and seatbelt pretensioners. Dealers of affected vehicles will be instructed to remove driver and passenger side airbag wiring harness connectors, and then "splice and solder the wires together." The second recall affects 303,000 Chevrolet Express (pictured right) and GMC Savana vans from model years 2009-2014, and with gross vehicle weights under 10,000 pounds. Said vehicles do not comply with a head impact requirement for unrestrained occupants, and will need a reworking of the instrument panel material to be sent back on the road. It doesn't sound as though there's a quick fix for this one, as the GM press release states: "Unsold vehicles have been placed on a stop delivery until development of the solution has been completed and parts are available." Finally, the third recall affects 63,900 Cadillac XTS luxury sedans from model years 2013 and 2014. A brake booster pump may be susceptible to corrosion by way of the relay, potentially causing and electrical short, overheating, melting of plastic components and even engine fires. GM says it is aware of two engine fires in unsold XTS models and two cases of melted parts. Repairs for the issues affecting the XTS have not not mentioned by GM in the release. The Detroit News is also reporting that along with news of the triple-recall, GM is taking a $300-million credit to help pay for the repair costs, and to deal with the ongoing costs associated with the ignition switch recall. In an attempt to explain just what GM has been doing in the face of these very serious issues, newly minted CEO Mary Barra has addressed the issues in a new video.
10 best new car deals of November 2021
Thu, Nov 4 2021Sales of new cars, trucks and SUVs were drastically affected in 2020 due to the (still) ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The market started to show signs of recovery toward the end of last year before really coming on strong in the early months of 2021. Of course, then pandemic-related parts and worker shortages along with global shipping constraints started running amok and causing a great deal of pricing fluctuation and a limited supply of certain vehicles. Those problems (among other things) have led to record-high new-car transaction prices in the United States. The good news is that there are still plenty of great deals on new cars. Using data provided by TrueCar, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best automotive deals for November 2021. WeÂ’ve noted the original MSRP, the average transaction price, and the total savings in both dollars and as a percentage of the original sticker price. Basically, weÂ’ve done all the hard work for you! So now, all you need to do is compare deals, go on a few test drives, and maybe drive away in a great car (and an even better bargain).
Daily Driver: 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Sedan
Tue, Oct 13 2015Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, reviewed by the staffers that drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V sedan, reviewed by David Gluckman. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. And don't forget to watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Hey, it's David Gluckman with another Daily Driver. Today I'm driving a 2016 Cadillac ATS-V. This is the sedan model and it has the optional eight-speed automatic transmission. The ATS-V is the small performance car in Cadillac's lineup. It sits below the CTS-V, which is also new for 2016. Ever since the base ATS came out a few years ago, this has always been a wonderful chassis in search of a great engine to compliment it. This car really changes that. [00:00:30] They've dialed up the chassis, the suspension is a little stiffer, the body is even stiffer, and they've put this really nice 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine under the hood. In terms of power and torque, the new V6 outguns it's main bogey, the BMW M3 and M4. The Cadillac engine puts out 464 horsepower and 445 pound feet of torque, which is tons. [00:01:00] The one issue, though, is the way it delivers that power. It's not as smooth as the BMW and there's a bit of turbo lag that you really don't feel in the German engine. Once you get moving, however, this engine really just wakes up. There's no lag once you're at highway speed. You can floor it and there's plenty of power and torque for easy passes and runup to extra-legal speeds. [00:01:30] It's tons of fun there but around town it just kind of lacks a little bit of the smoothness and responsiveness that we're kind of expecting for a car in this class. The engine does sound pretty nice, though. It has this nice little growl when you start it up and when you get on it, it actually sounds more like a supercharged engine than a turbocharged one. It's a little strange, I think that's maybe some active noise cancellation that Cadillac is doing to cancel out the whooshes and whirs that we're used to from a turbocharger. [00:02:00] That's fine with me. Whatever it is, it sounds good. This car gets the same fancy rear limited-slip differential that the Corvette introduced a couple years ago. It does a really good job of keeping everything manageable. You almost can't tell that the car has 464 horsepower. It keeps everything in line.
