Cadillac : Eldorado El Deora on 2040-cars
Fort Myers, Florida, United States
Up for auction is my 1972 Cadillac Eldorado with a little over 51k original miles. This car is a special custom package built by ASC Custom Craft. (American Sunroof Corporation) The package was called El Deora and offered through Cadillac dealers. It was a very rare ane expensive package which consisted of reworked grill and hood ornament, large power sunroof, heavilly padded landau roof extending into the doors, portholes, and faux spare tire hump on rear trunklid. The package competed with other "pimpmobile" builders in the early 70's such as Dunham Coach. But I believe this was the only package offered by Cadillac. The car is beautiful and is an all original survivor. It is turquoise with hand painted pinstriping and white leather. All power options inside, and ice cold climate control A/C. Everything works but for the cruise control, which works every now and then. Even all the fiber optic indicators and the automatic headlights work. The interior is near perfect, carpet is mint, backseat looks like its never been sat in and the front seat has minor patina from age but no cracks or tears. The car appears to always have been garaged. The weather stripping is still soft and in good shape. Dash is perfect Etc.. Engine is the 500 ci. that just had a fresh tune up. (points, condenser, cap, rotor, plugs, wires) Runs great, shifts smooth. No leaks that I can see. Drives unbelievable smooth and straight down the road. Brakes stop straight with no vibration. Whitewall firestone radials are in great shape with onlyb about !k miles. Origional full size bias ply is in the trunk. You get noticed in this car! I get more looks and thumbs up in this car than any other I've driven! The last few pics show the flaws : Scratch on Pass. door, small ding on driver fender, and small wrinkle on rear bumper. The only rust is a few pea sized bubbles at the base of the padded top, and a small approx 3'' spot behind both front wheels than you cant even see because of the stainless trim. Chrome and stainless in really good shape. I love this car and have been very reluctant to sell but I never use it and could use the space in the garage. Also... I bought the car from an elderly gentleman approx 3 years ago. He said he purchased the car from famous sportscaster Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder many years ago. I have not been able to prove this but just thought i'd throw it out there. Please feel free to call with any questions or if you want to come see the car. Thanks...Happy bidding. Ryan 239-218-9114

Cadillac introducing V2V communications on 2017 CTS sedans
Thu, Mar 9 2017While Audi has introduced vehicle-to-infrastructure technology in select cars in select cities, Cadillac is focusing on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, and it all starts with the CTS sedan. Starting this month, the company will be adding V2V equipment to 2017 models. The feature will be standard on cars in the US and Canada. These V2V devices will allow these new Cadillacs to communicate with each other up to 980 feet away. The cars will be able to transmit and receive information on speed, direction, and location. An example of how this data can be used is in detecting a car coming up a side street that could pose a possible collision risk. The cars will also be able to transmit data about brake use, hazard lights, and low traction situations for advance warning of hazards. The warnings can be displayed on the instrument panel and heads-up display. Currently, the system only communicates with other CTS sedans equipped with the technology. According to Chris Bonelli at Cadillac part of the reason is that the CTS will be the only car with the equipment on US roads at the moment, but it also isn't currently set to communicate with other cars if they were to be offered right away. However, he said that the company is absolutely willing to work with other companies to make the system compatible if or when other cars are offered with the technology. This V2V system also doesn't send data to any sort of network, instead only communicating with nearby cars. For the time being, this precludes the possibility of receiving road condition information from cars that are farther away. But as Cadillac points out, it should work under any conditions with no delay since it isn't dependent on information from a network. As far as security is concerned, Bonelli told us that the Cadillac system does have firewalls and other security measures to keep it protected from interference. He also said the cars don't store any data they receive. In addition, none of the data could be used to identify a particular person. The cars use a radio frequency set aside by the government for this use. The introduction of this technology also puts Cadillac well ahead of proposed legislation by the Department of Transportation. The organization wants this type of short-range V2V communications equipment to be a standard feature by 2023, believing the technology could prevent many injuries and deaths due to crashes. Cadillac CT6 to be lighter than CTS, get PHEV model
Mon, 06 Oct 2014Cadillac is suddenly one of the most talked about automakers in the US with Johan de Nysschen taking control. The brand claims that it eventually wants to become, once again, the standard of the world. One of the first vehicles to actually prove whether that's possible is its upcoming CT6 flagship sedan. We still don't know what the production version looks like undisguised, but other important details are falling into place. The latest big news sheds some light on the Caddy's powertrain and some estimates of its weight and size.
General Motors product chief Mark Reuss dropped the details at the automaker's Global Business Conference. According to The Detroit News, he revealed that the CT6 would use a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a plug-in hybrid would be an additional option. He reportedly claimed it would be the most "powerful six-cylinder gas engine in the segment" and said the hybrid could get around 70 miles per gallon.
Reuss also revealed that the CT6 would be about 53 pounds lighter than the current CTS, despite being about 8 inches longer, according to The Detroit News. If that's the case, the new flagship is about 203.5-inches long, which is 1.5-inches more than the XTS.
GM's Ultium EV platform finally shows up in Q3 sales numbers
Wed, Oct 4 2023General Motors has heralded its Ultium battery-electric platform as the future of its passenger car and truck lineup, but for the first two years of its existence, its impact on the marketplace has been virtually nonexistent. Well, that finally changed in the third quarter of 2023, and while the cars based on this architecture don't represent anywhere near the volume of GM's broader combustion portfolio, we're reaching a point where Ultium products are finally in view (and in the hands) of real-world shoppers. At this point, five U.S.-market Ultium models are in production: the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer & Silverado EV, and BrightDrop Zevo 600. If you're not familiar with that last one, that's OK; it's a commercial product that you likely won't see on the road for some time. Together, these four combined for 4,257 sales in the third quarter alone — up from 2,663 for the entire first half of the year. While that may not seem like a significant uptick when viewed from altitude, the quarter-to-quarter numbers paint a clearer picture. Let's toss out the stragglers first. The Chevy Blazer EV, and Silverado EV for example, are barely in production. GM delivered 19 Blazers and 18 Silverados in the third quarter and that's the entirety of their production runs so far. Likewise, GM's BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van effectively exists apart from the consumer marketplace, so its contribution of just 35 units can be set aside too. That leaves us the two you've heard of: the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq — models with high sticker prices and long reservation queues. Through the second quarter (remember, we're talking six months here), GMC sold 49 Hummer EVs. No typo. In the three months that made up the third quarter, GM moved 1,167 of them. Not only is that a dramatic improvement over the first half, but it's more Hummers than GMC sold in the entirety of 2022 (854). Lyriq's improvement was less eye-popping on paper, but after moving just 122 total units in 2022 and 2,013 of them in the first half of 2023, Cadillac managed to up that figure to 3,018 units in the third quarter alone. GM is betting its short-term EV future on the Ultium platform, so these trends need to continue if that's going to be a profitable wager.
