1973 CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE, VERY GOOD MECHANICAL CONDITION, RUNS AND DRIVES FINE, MANY MANY REPLACEMENT PARTS FROM PARTS CAR.
COMPLETE CAR BUT WILL BE A MAJOR RESTORATION PROJECT.
HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 14 YEARS DURING WHICH TIME HAVE REPLACED TRANSMISSION AND MUCH OF FRONT END WITH PARTS FROM 42K MILE PARTS CAR.
PROBABLY BEST WAY TO EXPLAIN CAR IS BY THE GOOD AND BAD. FIRST THE GOOD:
++++92000 ORIGINAL MILES. HAD 89OOO ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN 1997.
+++TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY SMOOTHLY +++ LESS THAN 1000 MILES SINCE REPLACED FROM PARTS CAR.
+++ENGINE RUNS EXCELLENTLY. 4-BARREL ROCHESTER REBUILT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO.
+++SEATS AND MUCH OF INTERIOR FROM A DIFFERENT PARTS CAR+++ PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.
+++SOME INTERIOR DOOR PANELS HAVE BEEN RE-DONE AND SOME ARE ORIGINAL FROM A '74 WHERE FRONT DOOR PANELS REPLACED.
+++FRONT TIRES ARE ALMOST NEW. LESS THAN 100 MILES ON THEM. REAR TIRES IN GOOD SHAPE,
+++DASH HAS NO CRACKS!!! HARD TO FIND ONE WITHOUT CRACKS.
+++BODY IN FAIR SHAPE, ALL THERE, NOTHING MISSING.
+++CONVERTIBLE TOP MECHANISM ALL THERE BUT TOP MOTOR INOP+++
+++ALL GLASS IS PRESENT AND RECALL THAT ALL WINDOW MOTORS WORK THOUGH SLOWLY.
++++GOOD BATTERY++++
++++LOTS OF SPARE PARTS PER PHOTOS.
THE BAD:
+++RUSTED OUT REAR FLOOR PANELS AND SOME UNDER REAR SEAT+++
+++CONVERTIBLE TOP IS IN PIECES, HAVEN'T HAD IT UP IN SEVERAL YEARS.+++
+++SOME "BODY CANCER" ON LOWER PANELS AS SHOWN.+++
+++MISSING A COUPLE OF THE LOWER CHROME PANELS.
+++STEERING WHEEL HAS NUMEROUS CRACKS AS SHOWN.
(DO HAVE SPARE WHEEL AND COLUMN IN TRUNK. THE WHEEL ON SPARE IS IN BETTER SHAPE BUT IS BROWN.
+++HAS EXHAUST LEAK THAT SOUNDS LIKE MUFFLER GONE. BELIEVE IS HEADER PIPE THAT IS EITHER CRACKED OR RUSTED)
I USED THIS CAR FOR AN OCCASIONAL DRIVER FOR A LONG TIME . HAD INTENTIONS OF RESTORING BUT I DON'T HAVE THE BODY REPAIR SKILLS AND TIME NEEDED.
SO -- OFFERING TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO HOPEFULLY WILL WANT TO RESTORE IT TO WHAT IT CAN BE.
REMEMBER THAT THIS WHITE/RED ELDO IS THE SAME BASIC CAR AS THE 1976 CLASSIC "LAST AMERICAN CONVERTIBLE" ELDO THAT IS NOW SUPER COLLECTIBLE.
CAR HAS BEEN MY PERSONAL CAR BUT IS TITLED TO THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP WITH WHICH I AM LICENSED. C & S AUTOMOBILE COMPANY, UTAH DEALER # 2616.
YOU COULD PROBABLY DRIVE IT WHEREVER YOU WANT TO TAKE IT BUT WOULD RECOMMEND HAULING JUST BECAUSE HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN VERY FAR IN SEVERAL YEARS.
WOULD HOPE BUYER WOULD RESTORE IT BUT, IF YOU'RE GOOD AT THIS,YOU COULD PROBABLY PART IT OUT FOR MUCH MORE THAN ASKING HERE.
I REALIZE THAT BUYING A "PROJECT" CAR SIGHT UNSEEN IS DIFFERENT. I HAVE TRIED TO ACCURATELY REPRESENT THE CAR SO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING. HOWEVER, IF YOU COME TO PICK UP CAR AND DON'T FEEL I ACCURATELY REPRESENTED IT, I WILL GIVE YOU BACK HALF THE DEPOSIT ($250) AND WE'RE GOOD.
THIS IS A +++NO RESERVE+++ AUCTION SO HIGH BIDDER WILL DEFINITELY WIN. PLEASE +++DON'T BID+++ UNLESS READY AND ABLE TO PURCHASE.
IF NEW TO EBAY (LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACKS) PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION BEFORE BIDDING. THINK THAT FAIR AS MY FEEDBACK RECORD SPEAKS FOR MY INTEGRITY AS A SELLER.
THANKS FOR LOOKING AND KEEP PRAYING FOR OUR TROOPS WORLDWIDE! (USAF, USAR, RET)

Hotter Cadillac CT5-V could use the CTS-V's 6.2-liter V8
Thu, Jan 23 2020Cadillac is in the final stages of testing the high-performance variant of the CT5, prototypes are racking up miles all over the world, and a recent report sheds light on the engine screaming between its punched-out fenders. It's a V8, to no one's surprise, but it's not the twin-turbocharged, 4.2-liter unit many believed the sedan would use. Sources familiar with Cadillac's product plan told Car & Driver the hotter CT5 — whose name hasn't been revealed yet — will receive an updated version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that powered the mighty CTS-V. It developed 640 horsepower in the firm's last German-bashing super-sedan, though where engineers will peg the CT5's output remains to be seen. It will roast the rear tires through a paddle-shifted automatic transmission. The publication explained Cadillac chose the 6.2-liter because it's more compact than the 4.2-liter Blackwing engine it developed for the CT6. The former features a pushrod design, while the latter gets twin overhead cams that make it taller and wider. The CT5 is a new model, but its Alpha platform is older than Cadillac's newest V8. Cadillac hasn't announced what will power the flagship CT5. The model is tentatively due out in showrooms before the end of 2020, so we expect to learn more about it in the coming months. Seeing it in the metal for the first time during the 2020 Detroit Auto Show in June isn't entirely out of the question. What's next? If the report is accurate, the much-hyped Blackwing may end up being an orphan engine. It was developed specifically for the Cadillac brand, and inaugurated by the CT6-V that recently went out of production. The many rumors claiming General Motors will put the engine in other models to recoup its investment are falling like dominoes. It won't fit in the CT5, so there's no reason to believe it will end up in the smaller CT4; its flagship version will likely arrive with a twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter V6 borrowed from the ATS-V. An earlier report claims the next-generation Escalade won't use the Blackwing, either, because making it fit would cost too much. Looking beyond Cadillac, the only General Motors-owned brand that could use the Blackwing is Chevrolet, since we can't imagine the GMC Yukon will get it if the Escalade doesn't. The Tahoe/Suburban duo is off the table, too.
GM recalls nearly 340,000 large SUVs to fix daytime running lights
Thu, Nov 10 2022General Motors has initiated a recall campaign for more than 338,000 of its large SUVs to address a potential defect in the onboard computer software that controls the daytime running lights. In some cases, the DRLs may remain on even when the headlights are enabled, which creates additional glare for oncoming drivers at night and fails to comply with federal regulations for headlight performance. "GM determined that the body control module (BCM) software in these vehicles, under a combination of certain pre-conditions, may fail to deactivate the DRLs when the headlamps are on," GM's recall report said. "A regulatory assessment was conducted to evaluate whether the condition presented a potential noncompliance with the DRL activation requirements in S7.10.5, Table I-a. of FMVSS 108. On October 27, 2022, GM’s Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a recall for potential noncompliance with this standard." GM says the recall covers the 2021 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. The company says all models produced within that operating window include the improperly programmed body control module, meaning all vehicles within the recall population may exhibit the problem. The issue was discovered by a GM engineer during validation testing in August, prompting a deeper investigation and eventually leading to the recall itself.  The module's software can be updated by GM dealers, so it should be a quick fix for customers. Notifications will be mailed to owners in December. Related video: Recalls Cadillac Chevrolet GMC Ownership Safety SUV Luxury
Timely hole-in-one wins high schooler a Cadillac or $50,000
Wed, Jun 26 2019If it happens at all, many golfers knock in hole-in-ones in the quiet of a mediocre local course while three friends sit in their carts drinking Coors Lights. After dreaming of the moment for years, lucky golfers barely have time to process the tremendous achievement before it's followed up with a double bogey on the next hole. That wasn't the case for high schooler Jack Kyger, who drilled an ace during a golf outing, and in turn, won a Cadillac or $50,000. Kyger, a junior at Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek, Mich., says he wasn't even considering a hole-in-one when he stepped up to the tee on the fourth hole at the Battle Creek Country Club. A secondary prize, a TV, would be awarded to the golfer who came closest to the pin, so Kyger was simply trying to get it close to the cup. In front of his dad and Harper Creek Superintendent Rob Ridgeway, he stuck the shot just past the hole, and with some backspin, it rolled into the pin. It's the first time somebody has hit the bullseye at the Gene Lewis Hughes, Sr. Memorial Golf Outing, which has raised more than $150,000 for the Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Center throughout the years. By hitting a hole-in-one, Kyger won a $50,000 decision: take home a Cadillac or a big bag of $50,000 in cash. As a student preparing to go to college, it's not an easy choice. "I haven't made up my mind," Kyger said in a USA Today article. "But the way I think about it, no 17-year-old needs a brand new Cadillac to drive around in. I have a truck that gets me places. So, if I take the cash, I would probably put most of it away for college, but keep a little back to have a bit of fun, you know." Smart kid. We did notice a peculiarity about the prize. In the attached photo, the Cadillac at the event appears to be a Cadillac ATS-V. Those familiar with Cadillac's performance vehicles know that an ATS-V starts at significantly more than $50,000 - $68,790 to be exact. So we're not sure why they're calling it a $50,000 Cadillac, unless it's a lightly used vehicle or the Cadillac in question is in fact a different car entirely. No matter the price, it sounds like Kyger is going to take the cash. If he sticks to practicing his golf game, maybe he can earn some more money for college, too.
