Problem with car after you read:
This is our Eldorado for the past eight years. Bought the car from family of an old gentlemen in Oregon. He passed away and the daughter already had a vehicle so she did not want to keep it. As you can see by the photos, it has always been garaged as the paint and chrome is quite nice after 20 years. It has always been serviced regularly and driven conservatively. When the rpm's are only 1650 at 60 mph, the engine is running quite slow compared to many vehicles. The motor has never used any oil, and when you start it, never any noise etc as it has not been abused.
Check out the pics. See the Zambrano wood trim in mint condition, and paint is quite nice as well. The spare nor the jack have ever been used to my knowledge, at least since we have owned it. I keep another set of floor mats over the original mats to protect them. If you notice, I changed out the stereo to a Kenwood Execlon unit so that I could copy my cd's to a USB stick and play my old music in the car. This unit is XM ready and has a jack for other kinds of devices. All it would need is a puck to receive signal. The stereo is connected to the original Bose amp with Bose speakers. This unit has a remote control, which you can see in the pictures. You can change sources for am, fm, usb, standby, etc. It's nice to use when driving. I told them when they installed it to use universal connections so the next owner could put back the original Bose/CD unit which will be left in the car for it's new owner. The original Delco Bose Gold Series unit works well also with its Am/FM cassette player and CD. You could put it back in if you wish. About 6 years ago I sent the power antennae out to be fixed. It has a plastic filament that goes up and down, well it broke again, so I unplugged the antennae. Whenever you turn on the stereo, it automatically goes up, then down when you turn off stereo or stop and turn the key off. There are still folks fixing these as the power unit is in great shape.
So very few Eldorados have an electronic digital dash unit along with the column shift. Most Eldos are analog display. This makes this car more rare and collectible. Also very few of this particular color were sold. Don't know why as it is a stunning look on this body style? That also adds to the collectability of the car. The original owners manual including the original keys with one original key fob are included with the original stereo. Notice the keys have a secure chip in them. The old man who owned this before must have had long fingernails as the buttons are worn down. It still locks, and unlocks just fine. The trunk also has another pad inside to protect the original carpet. It will be included. I will also leave a USB stick with about 10 gigabytes of a variety of music of oldies, classic country, jazz, love songs, etc, etc. If you don't like, just delete or don't use. Will also leave the manual for the Kenwood stereo unit which explains the remote control, etc.
Just want to be upfront with you all. This car will not come with a smog certificate. I went to have it smogged, and it passed at 30mph, but not at 15mph according to the report. Guy said put some additive in tank and change something called an EGR module, so I had that changed and rechecked. Well, again no go. Then he said try catalytic converter, so I had that replaced. It passes on everything except nox?? Maybe in your state, smog requirements are different than California. I know the spark plugs have not been changed for 6 years and someone told me I should try that. Oh well. My wife thought this might be a sign, so she said get a new car, and that is what I did.
This car has recent new water pump and radiator, as they both started seeping, so I had those replaced. Battery is a year old. Maybe could use shocks in rear, as when you go over bumps, it makes a bit of noise. Never replaced those and probably has originals on it.
It's time for me to let it go. I grow weary of taking it to a garage and having them scratch it, or dent it more than it is.
Understand, this is not a new car and is not perfect, but is a rare preserved 20 year old classic that will never be produced again. I only hope someone with a garage, and a love of cars gets it.
Send an email if you need more info or pictures or leave a phone, and I will return.

Best 3rd Row SUVs of 2024
Wed, Oct 19 2022If you plan on using a vehicle's third row a lot, let us at least make the suggestion that a minivan would be a smarter bet than anything you're going to see on this list of best three-row SUVs. Their third rows are bigger, more comfortable and easier to get to. The kids will definitely be happier. Here are our two top choices. OK, now that that's out of the way, we totally get why minivans are totally depressing and that if the kids want to be happier, they can buy their own darn vehicle. You're buying, you're driving, you're being seen in it and you'd rather have a three-row SUV. Fair enough. Luckily, there are more choices than ever and they're really good. The best do a particularly good job of being family friendly without looking like a drab transportation appliance, although really, you can't go wrong with any of the mainstream three-row SUVs. Now, some of the luxury choices are a bit suspect, including those that are otherwise very appealing but have cramped third-row seats (the Genesis GV80 comes to mind). We're focusing on three-row SUVs here, so having a usable third row is a must. In this list, we have broken things down into four sub-categories: Best Three-Row Crossover | Best Full-size Three-Row SUV Best Luxury Three-Row SUV | Best Flagship Luxury Three-Row SUV Note that we define crossovers as SUVs since most buyers use the terms interchangeably, but acknowledge that "crossover" is literally a vehicle with a car-like unibody structure as opposed to the truck-like, body-on-frame construction that traditionally has defined "SUV." In other words, we consider all crossovers SUVs, but not all SUVs are crossovers (specifically those in the full-size segment and some in the flagship luxury segment). Best Three-Row Crossover SUVs of 2024 2024 Honda Pilot Why it stands out: Exceptional storage and cargo space; unique second-row functionality; refined ride; versatile and capable TrailSport; advanced AWDCould be better: Subpar acceleration with lackadaisical transmission and engine response; so-so driver assistance tech Read our full 2024 Honda Pilot Review The Honda Pilot was completely redesigned for 2023. It maintains its predecessor's family friendly packaging and overall focus, but it has injected a welcome sense of style (especially in the TrailSport pictured above) that makes it stand out much better from the big crossover crowd.
Cadillac clears camo off the XT3 revealing grille, lighting details
Wed, Dec 6 2017Up until now, every Cadillac XT3 we've seen has been buried under covers and vinyl wraps, but one of our spy photographers recently captured a group of them with significantly less camouflage. As a result, we finally get a relatively clear picture of what the car will look like. The nose blends the look of current Cadillacs with cues from last year's Escala concept. The headlights still appear to stretch up into the top of the fenders like its production brethren, but they don't descend as far down the front fascia, a hint of Escala influence. The grille also features more of egg-crate mesh like that Cadillac concept. In profile, we can see evidence of the XT3's smaller size compared with the XT5, mainly in the lack of any glass area behind the rear door. Other evidence of the smaller size is that our spy photographer reports the cars were being tested alongside the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. The profile also shows that the XT3 will have a hard-edged rear end with a rakish hatch. At the back, there isn't a whole lot to report, but the taillights look like they'll be interesting. There appears to be a horizontal element in the middle of the hatch similar to what we've seen on the Escala and the refreshed XTS. We can also see some lights up on the C-pillar, which indicates that the XT3 will also have tall vertical elements up those pillars like on the Escalade. We expect the XT3 to show up late in 2018. It will likely be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder of some sort, and because it will probably be based on an existing GM crossover or sedan platform, it will probably have front-wheel drive and/or a front-drive based all-wheel-drive system. This '59 Cadillac is now on display at Toyota's museum in Japan
Tue, Dec 20 2016The Toyota Automobile Museum is different from a lot of other automaker collections in one very interesting way: It doesn't focus solely on Toyota's own automobiles. While the home team is certainly well represented, the love is spread to plenty of non-Toyota brands and vehicles that are significant to automotive history. And that permanent collection now includes the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible you see here. Yes, the '59 Caddy has the biggest tail fins ever, which makes it measurably significant. You still wouldn't expect to see it in a museum in Japan, though. After updates to the facility and its exhibits finish early next year, the 67-vehicle collection will also include such greats as a Renault 5 (known here as the Le Car), a '64 Ford Mustang, an Audi Quattro, a first-gen Honda Insight, and a Lotus Elite. Someone over there has good taste. You can visit the Toyota Automobile Museum the next time you're in Nagakute City, which is right outside Nagoya. We're booking our tickets now.
