1972 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe 500 Cubic Inch 8.2l on 2040-cars
Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States
1972 Eldorado. 8.2 liter 500 Cu. In 375 HP.
This car has bee properly maintained, with the following replaced in the last two years: new vacuum hoses, rebuilt brake calipers, new brake pads, rebuilt brake master cylinder, new axle shafts, new brake hoses front and back, new rear brake shoes, cylinders, drums, rear wheel bearings and seals, replaced all of the exhaust after the Y pipe, new aluminum radiator, new water pump, hoses, belts, heater core, heater valve, heater control module, cruise control transducer, battery, Monroe shocks, rebuilt Quadrajet carb, new fuel pump, tuned up, new ignition coil, rebuilt alternator. The car was repainted years ago; the original color was Firemist Gold, but it was redone in a lighter gold color. The original keys, including gold-plated key with the Cadillac crest surrounded by laurels are included. This car is heavily-optioned, runs and drives excellently. The interior is in beautiful condition and the only issue with the body is some damage (visible in the last picture) to the right rear quarter panel from a tire blowout on the freeway. All 5 tires; the 4 on the ground and the spare, were all replaced immediately afterwards. The engine does leak coolant due to a rusted freeze plug that needs to be replaced. Odometer shows 90,448 miles. The only barrier to driving this car cross-country is the cost of gasoline. The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm moving to Texas and its too expensive to take the car with. I'm willing to work with international shippers, provided all the details are taken care of by the buyer and that payment is made in full prior to the car being picked up. Here's a video walk-around of the car with a brief demonstration of the acceleration: youtube.com/watch?v=gvoZkfzN_CQ |

Cadillac plans to keep its Manhattan ZIP code, shunning Detroit
Thu, Jun 7 2018Johan de Nysschen is credited for separating Cadillac from the GM nest in Detroit, but despite his ouster earlier this year, the luxury division says it will remain headquartered in New York City's tony SoHo district. "It's 100 percent that we're staying here, that was never a question," Cadillac spokesman Andrew Lipman told the Detroit Free Press. Cadillac in April announced that it was replacing de Nysschen, after four years running the flagship brand. The new brand boss, Steve Carlisle, previously was president and managing director of GM Canada. De Nysschen led a big push to separate the luxury brand from its parent company as a separate business unit, announcing the move to New York in 2014 as a way to gain more autonomy and better tap into the global luxury zeitgeist. The move was controversial at the time in some quarters, though Lipman told the Freep that GM brass made the decision to relocate Cadillac to the Big Apple months before de Nysschen arrived at the company. Cadillac now occupies the 15th and 16th floors of a high-rise building on Hudson Street in SoHo, where it has between 140 and 150 employees. It also operates a ground-floor retail space called the Cadillac House where it displays cars, operates a coffee shop and stages events, including with fashion designers. Its vehicles are still designed and engineered back in the Detroit area, however. "The amount of time people spend at Cadillac House has been increasing, and it's become a destination," Lipman said. Cadillac used this year's New York Auto Show to reveal its new 2019 XT4 compact crossover, its second offering in the all-important luxury crossover segment after the XT5. It goes on sale this fall. This '59 Cadillac is now on display at Toyota's museum in Japan
Tue, Dec 20 2016The Toyota Automobile Museum is different from a lot of other automaker collections in one very interesting way: It doesn't focus solely on Toyota's own automobiles. While the home team is certainly well represented, the love is spread to plenty of non-Toyota brands and vehicles that are significant to automotive history. And that permanent collection now includes the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible you see here. Yes, the '59 Caddy has the biggest tail fins ever, which makes it measurably significant. You still wouldn't expect to see it in a museum in Japan, though. After updates to the facility and its exhibits finish early next year, the 67-vehicle collection will also include such greats as a Renault 5 (known here as the Le Car), a '64 Ford Mustang, an Audi Quattro, a first-gen Honda Insight, and a Lotus Elite. Someone over there has good taste. You can visit the Toyota Automobile Museum the next time you're in Nagakute City, which is right outside Nagoya. We're booking our tickets now. Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers
Wed, Aug 14 2024Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.
