It has a tattered top and some missing parts."

1969 Cadillac Convertible.  In 1969, the DeVille Convertible was the only convertible offered by Cadillac.  This is a good running car and I have a clear title in my name. On July 9, 2013, I drove the car over 35 miles with the temperature at 98 degrees in "stop and go" traffic.  The car performed very well and did not over heat.  The engine runs good and has no unusual noise.  The car shifts smoothly and stops well.  The power steering and power brakes work as the should.

Please look closely at all of the photos. This car is still a restoration project, but the hard work has been completed.  The floors, including the truck floor, are dry and have been repaired with metal. It has new carpets covering new sound proofing insulation, and painted with rust prohibitive.  The engine has had a recent tune up and runs well.  All of the door and body seams align properly.  The doors open and close properly as does the hood and trunk.
This was a "father and son" project that almost got finished, but financial problems forced the sale of the car.  I want the new owner to know exactly what they are getting.  With this in mind, I will list the negative aspects of the car in detail. (Keep in mind, this is a smooth running car that can be driven.)
1. The minor rust issues in the floor have been professionally repaired with metal and sealed with a rust preventive. There are still rust issues in the driver's side front fender and along the driver's side rear fender.  There is some paint bubbling in the trunk lid and some paint chips on the hood.  Again, please look closely at the photos.  I have taken close up photos of the problem areas and I have supersized them to assist in evaluating the condition of the car. 2. The convertible top is tattered and needs to be replaced.  The original glass window is still in place, but the header is rusted beyond repair. (I have found several headers on Ebay, but they are expensive.)  3. The electrical system is complete, but needs work.  Some of the power windows work, but some don't. The glass is good in all of the windows. 4. The power top works and is complete, but again, the switch needs to be reconnected to the motor.
All of the parts to the top are in the trunk along with the headrests, seat belts, and trim pieces. If you have any questions, please give me a call. My name is Bob, and my home phone number is (801) 745-0599.  I'm a retired teacher and I will gladly explain the car to you and answer any of your questions.
I will gladly ship the car anywhere in the world. A $500. PayPal Deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction closing. If you have less than 5 positive feedbacks in your ebay feedback score, please call me before bidding.  I want this to be a good, straightforward, auction. The reserve on the car is well under its value.  Please look at my feedback - I want to keep my 100% positive feedback score and I want the new owner to be completely satisfied with the car.

2014 Cadillac CTS configurator open for business

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

Cadillac has just set the new configurator for the redesigned, 2014 CTS live. While we've already tested out the new CTS, this is our first chance to play with all the interior and exterior color options and to get a fair idea of the price. The new CTS covers a broad swath from the $46,025 base model, with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, to the $59,995 VSport, complete with its brawny, 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6.
It doesn't take much to send the CTS's price up from there, though. Opt for the VSport Premium trim, and the price immediately jumps $10,000. Opting for one of the premium paint colors is all that's needed to nudge the CTS past $70,000. For reference, a 556-horsepower CTS-V (previous-generation, naturally) starts at $64,515.
Click over and have a look at the configurator for yourself.

Cadillac Oscars ad shows none of its cars or trucks

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Can you sell something without actually showing the product in an ad? While this sounds like a question that Don Draper might have, Cadillac apparently thinks it's possible with at least one of the brand's three upcoming Oscars commercial. Days after whiting-out the company's social media presence in preparation for the new campaign, some of the advertising is finally here. Titled Dare Greatly, the first released spot goes for a stripped down, minimalist aesthetic. The entire piece is made up of voiceover and ambient noise set over slow-motion driving shots of New York City. Viewers catch a few out-of-focus glances at a Cadillac interior, but otherwise the only vehicles in the commercial are the ones parked along the street. The speech that is the centerpiece of the ad is all about the glory in just making an attempt, rather than criticizing others. "There is no effort without error and shortcoming," it says at one point. According to The Detroit Free Press, the text comes from a lecture by Teddy Roosevelt in 1910 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Cadillac's commercial never actually attributes the words to the former president, but the company is playing up the connection on social media. The full 1:30 version of the spot is already streaming online, but Cadillac is cutting the commercial into 30-second and 60-second versions to air during the Oscars, according to The Detroit Free Press. Of the brand's two other ads during the awards show, at least one of them shows the company's vehicles.

Seventies super-salesman challenges new car-sales record

Wed, Feb 21 2018

Some of the fondest memories from my youth were the Sunday afternoons spent walking between rows of new and used cars. This preceded the advent of widely available internet, so the cars didn't sell themselves online: A tentative buyer had to come see the cars in the metal, with old-school salesmen taking well-earned smoke breaks after putting someone behind the wheel of a new Saab 900. All-inclusive subscription services were unheard of. If you open a Guinness records book and look up car salesmen, you'll find Joe Girard. The definitely old-school Detroit salesman regularly sold over 1,000 new cars per year, with a particular high point of 1,425 cars in 1973 guaranteeing him a mention in the Guinness book. To reach that kind of sales figure, you had to be a pretty special salesman, and Girard was. He didn't take breaks unless absolutely necessary, and even his lunch hours were dedicated to selling more cars instead of shooting the breeze with other sales persons. By 1977 he was worn through, having sold over 13,000 cars in his career, and his physique couldn't take it anymore. He's been a motivational speaker since. Now, 44 years later, a Dearborn, Mich., Cadillac and Chevrolet salesman named Ali Reda has reportedly broken Girard's record. The books at Les Stanford Chevrolet Cadillac say Reda sold 1,530 new cars and 52 used cars in 2017, averaging 130 vehicles per month. But after Girard, 89, heard of the sales record, he called his attorney, not letting his record be broken without a fight — or at least an audit. The Dearborn dealer isn't too concerned about Girard's doubts, at least according to Gary Stanford, whose father founded the dealership. "It's very official, trust me," said Stanford to the Detroit Free Press. "Ali is the hardest worker I've ever seen. And if someone doesn't believe the data, well, they're more than welcome to consult with GM. It's all there in black and white." What Girard doesn't get is that Reda was honoring him with the accomplishment. "I read his book, 'How to Sell Anything to Anybody,' and it said it would teach you how to become the best," said Reda, who at age 44 was a newborn when Girard hit his peak. "He's an absolute legend in the industry. Your whole career, you're chasing his name.
