Up for auction is my 1968 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. This particular Sedan DeVille is not a hardtop, it is a post vehicle which means there is a post between the front and rear doors. The car has an original 84,663 miles and is in presentable, original condition. The car still retains approximately 80% of its original paint with some fading on the trunk and hood areas. I did have the vinyl top replaced in 2007 and the vinyl top is still in excellent condition. When the original vinyl top was removed there was no signs of rust and it was treated/prepped/sealed prior to the installation of the new top. There is a small door ding in the drivers door as well as a small ding between the right hand cornering light and headlight door (see pictures). There is also a dent in the rear bumper removable molding insert on the drivers side (see picture). About six months ago I noticed a few rust bubbles on the lower front fenders and I took the vehicle to a body shop to have them repaired and the paint blended into the original paint.
The interior is in excellent original condition for the age of the vehicle, but does have some flaws. The flaws include some armrest cracking on the driver and passenger side front door panels. One button on the front seat upholstery popped off and one floor mat is missing (passenger side front). The carpet, headliner, dash pad, and the rest of the interior looks good. The car is fairly well-equipped including air-conditioning (working - new compressor charged with R134a), power windows (all working), power seat, power door locks (which are lazy at times I think they are vacuum controlled), tilt-telescopic steering wheel, automatic headlight dimmers, AM/FM Stereo Radio with power antenna, cruise-control (works when it wants to from time to time), automatic trunk release with vacuum pull down trunk lock, rear window defrost, and a clock that does not work. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition. I had the engine rebuilt which included new rings, new bearings, new cam, new lifters, new push rods, new valve seals, new timing chain set, new oil pump/screen, and new gaskets/seals. Also the car has had all of the following replaced: new carburetor, new starter, new distributor, new smog pump, new water pump, new gear box, new radiator hoses, new belts, new power steering pump, new power steering hoses, new thermostat, new fuel pump, and the radiator was cleaned and tested. All the brake components were replaced which included new brake shoes, new brake wheel cylinders, new brake hoses, new hardware kits, and new master cylinder. The vehicle is currently being sold as-is and where-is with no warranty implied or expressed. Make sure to ask any and all questions prior to bidding on this vehicle. A deposit of $500.00 dollars will be required within 5 days from the close of auction. The buyer is responsible for shipping and transport. The high bidder can make additional arrangements with seller if both agree. Full payment is required within 10 days of auction's close. Cash or Cashiers Check/Money Order. Please note title and car will be held until method of payment clears the bank. As mentioned earlier please ask all your questions prior to bidding. Any questions will be answered honestly, because I do not want anyone to be dissatisfied. Lastly, this item is being re-listed due to a bidder who was not aware of how an auction site worked and placed a bid without knowing the responsibilities or consequences associated with not following through with being a high bidder. Therefore, please bid responsibly and ask questions prior to bidding. Make sure to read the rules and guidelines of eBay prior to making a commitment to purchase an item. Thank you for understanding. |

Why Cadillac needs a real truck in its lineup
Mon, Aug 31 2015Premium brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Cadillac sell vehicles that cover the spectrum from car to crossover to SUV. But trucks? They remain the last frontier when it comes to luxury brands. These days Chevy, GMC, Ford, and Ram sell cheap, bare-bones work trucks alongside loaded models that top $75,000. There is a reverse elitism that comes with this sales tactic. A brand gets to reflect a rugged working class lifestyle with the emblem up front, while what's behind it costs as much as a small house in middle America. But Americans who spend big money on cars and SUVs have always gradually tailed towards luxury nameplates over time. Everyone knows what an Escalade is, and thanks in large part to that image the Escalade is now the best-selling fullsize luxury SUV in the USA. Cadillac's flagship model, along with its midsize luxury crossover, the SRX, routinely outsell the competition from Audi, Mercedes, and BMW, not to mention Ford's Lincoln brand and most of the Japanese rivals. With trucks already dominating overall sales and headed into the pricing stratosphere, I believe it's time for Cadillac to consider a fullsize truck. And no, not a lipstick version that merely takes a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and throws in a few leather seats and some slight interior touches. That experiment already failed both for Cadillac (the Escalade EXT) and for Ford's Lincoln brand (Blackwood, Mark LT). Cadillac is an American brand that currently focuses a ridiculous amount of energy and resources trying to compete with European car offerings. The brand needs to create the Cadillac of trucks. Head honcho Johan de Nysschen has been blunt in his desire to "restore Cadillac to the pinnacle of global premium brands, not in sales but in aspirational brand character." This sounds well and wonderful. But the present problem in achieving this goal is that, on a global basis, Cadillac is a failed brand. Look at Europe, where Cadillac has sold so poorly in recent years that former Soviet manufacturer Lada managed more new registrations in 2014 by a factor of more than four to one. Cadillac is an American brand that currently focuses a ridiculous amount of energy and resources trying to compete with European car offerings. After more than 20 years of Cadillac models selling themselves as import killers, the only one with sustained success has been the CTS, and even that has been a marketplace loser for the last several years. The CTS-V?
GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
Tue, Dec 12 2023Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.  General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.
2019 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Drivers' Notes Review | Not your granddad's Coupe de Ville
Wed, Oct 31 2018The 2019 ATS-V is Cadillac's smallest car, slotting below both the CTS and CT6 sedans. It's also the automaker's only two-door model, helping compete against the Audi RS5, BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe. Based on the GM Alpha platform, the ATS shares more than a little with the Chevrolet Camaro. Unlike the Camaro, the high-performance V variant uses a twin turbo V6. Like the Chevy, power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Our Wave Metallic blue test car has about $10,000 worth of options, the most expensive of which are the $2,300 Recaro sport seats. The Luxury Package — alloy pedals, HID headlights, navigation and a Bose stereo system — tacks on another $2,100. There are some visual upgrades, too, including $1,295 for a dealer-installed carbon-fiber engine cover. All in, this ATS-V rang up for $78,775. Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore: Cadillac has problems, but the ATS-V coupe isn't one of them. It's everything former Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen hoped the brand could achieve in the sporting realm. The car has a tight yet tolerable suspension. The steering is direct but not overly weighted. The engine burbles and growls with noticeable attitude. It's all underscored by the six-speed manual transmission, which has a heavy clutch and requires precise throws. It's a serious sports coupe for enthusiasts. Cadillac's style is brash, edgy and sharp. It's all of those things literally and figuratively. Note the cuts and creases. The ATS is borderline severe – but I like it. I think it's smart for Cadillac to really go for it in the design department. Cadillac is again tweaking its lineup and the ATS sedan and ultimately the coupe will be replaced. Still, there's a place for a car like the ATS-V coupe in the Caddy stable. There should be, anyway. The devil is in the engine, but the details of the @Cadillac ATS-V Coupe aren't bad either. @therealautoblog pic.twitter.com/7fQOrBkxeE — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) October 29, 2018 Associate Editor Reese Counts: I forgot how great this thing is to drive. I won't repeat all of Greg's comments, but suffice it to say that it's everything you want in a luxury sports coupe — direct steering, a chassis that balances performance and comfort and a potent engine. Combine sharp styling and competitive pricing, and you have one of the most compelling non-German luxury cars on the market.
