A rare find for Cadillac and Detroit muscle fans! 1968 was the last year for Cadillac's elegant stacked headlights and the first year for the massive 472, making for a one-of-a-kind model year! This car also features rare factory power bucket seats with headrests, plus center console.
This car has been in the family for over six years, always garaged and cared for, but not enjoyed frequently enough to justify the garage space it ties up. I do start it regularly and take it on a short drive about once a week, and occasionally drive it for the day. It's also been driven on interstate trips a few hundred miles in length without incident, cruises nicely at 70 mph, and has never stranded me. The car has had a great deal of mechanical work done. The 472 has been completely rebuilt and painted. A rebuilt Rochester carburetor was installed as well. It has electronic ignition, a one-wire alternator with built-in regulator, new dual exhaust, rear shocks, fuel pump, starter, master cylinder, tires, belts, and fluids. Much of this work was done about six years ago, but the car has only been driven 3-4,000 in the interim. I also installed a new battery about 3 months ago, and it has fresh fuel. It starts readily, idles and shifts smoothly with good acceleration, no knocking or pinging, and shuts down quietly without the use of fuel additives (I use 93 octane premium fuel).
The car is a reliable and fun driver, but I don't wish to misrepresent it as flawless. It does have rust issues typical of older Cadillacs- on the lower rocker panels and around the doorjambs. Some of it is partly hidden by a poorly prepped older paint job. There are pinholes in the trunk, and a crack in the floorpan in front of the rear seat. However, the frame rails are rock solid, with only the typical surface scale. It could use a new top and weatherstripping, but the top does go up and down from the dash switch, and the car has good glass all around. The vinyl top boot is included.
There are several electrical issues for which I lack the expertise and time to resolve: The driver's power seat works, the passenger's doesn't; two power windows and the ventipanes don't work off the switch; the headlights work off the manual switch, but not the automatic lights or dimmers; the AM/FM stereo plays faint quadraphonic static, and I haven't tried the automatic climate control at all. The good news is that the car was nearly fully optioned for 1968, and everything appears to be there- automatic headlights, high-beam dimmers, 4-speaker AM/FM stereo, climate control, dual power seats, power windows and ventipanes, power locks, trunk release and pull-down, cruise control and tilt/telescope wheel (works). The AC compressor and air reservoir for the automatic leveling system are not installed but are included with the car.
The interior is not perfect- there is a crack in the driver's door armrest, a couple of loose upholstery buttons, a small rip in the top of the rear seat leather, and the lock cylinder for the center console is missing. The rosewood veneer inserts and trim look good, however, and the dash is nearly flawless.
The car is located in St. Louis. My name is Joe; if you have questions or would like to arrange a time to view and drive it, please e-mail me through eBay or call me at 314-359-9542. I will answer messages as promptly as I can, and am available most evenings and weekends to show the car. I am happy to make accommodations within reason for pickup, and international buyers are welcome.
Thanks for looking, and good luck on eBay!

2016 Cadillac ATS-V brandishes 450 horses and 6-speed manual
Tue, 11 Nov 2014Details about the hotly anticipated 2016 Cadillac ATS-V are tumbling out, and they look to be everything we could ask for in a high-performance Caddy coupe.
According to Road & Track, the ATS-V will use a version of the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 from the CTS Vsport, but the wick will be turned up to 450 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. In glorious news for driving enthusiasts everywhere, that potent mill will be available with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
According to R&T, the engine has a heap of high-performance tech to let it make the extra ponies, including titanium connecting rods, two water-to-air intercoolers, titanium turbines for the turbos and an additional radiator dedicated to cooling the gearbox and electronically locking differential. Keeping it all planted are a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and a suspension with 50 percent more roll stiffness.
Hotter Cadillac CT4-V prototype spied testing at GM's Proving Grounds
Thu, Jun 27 2019Cadillac already teased us once with the hotter CT4-V and CT5-V at the Belle Isle Grand Prix, but these photos are still the best look yet at what's next for the Cadillac V-Series. The car we're looking at in heavy camouflage here is a high-performance CT4, but we don't really have a name to call it at this point. Cadillac hasn't said, so it could be anything. We'll just refer to it as the faster V, as it's certainly looking a bit more racy than the warmed-over CT4-V already revealed. While the styling isn't drastically different from the CT4-V already out there, the front intake and openings look deeper and more aggressive. The middle, raised section of the hood is a little taller and the whole front-end design looks a lot like the one teased in Belle Isle. This vehicle even appears to have the same mirror design as the faster V. The side sills, quad exhaust tips and wide rear tires lend this prototype an aggressive look, but we did note that it doesn't have the big ducktail spoiler we saw teased previously. Maybe Cadillac is trying to keep a low profile while testing. A keen eye will notice a wild apparatus attached to the front, which would serve as a great jousting pole if you were into that kind of thing. We don't know exactly when Cadillac plans to introduce the faster V machines, but we wouldn't doubt if it happened before the year was out. The ATS-V and CTS-V didn't look wholly different than the pedestrian versions of those cars, and this prototype indicates Caddy may follow a similar pattern this time around. All will be explained from GM soon, but for now, we wait.
Ford C-Max spot aimed squarely at Cadillac ELR 'Poolside' hubris [UPDATE]
Thu, Mar 27 2014If we had tried to predict the first video response to the controversial Poolside video for the Cadillac ELR, we would not have thought it would center on compost. But, hey, it's always nice to be reminded that the real world is sometimes better than fiction. Instead of the chic swagger of 'Poolside,' 'Anything Is Possible' is all about getting dirty. The new short in question is called Upside: Anything Is Possible and it promotes two things: Detroit Dirt and the Ford C-Max Energi. As in the ELR ad, Ford's plug-in C-Max only makes an appearance at the tail end of the spot, but instead of the chic swagger of Poolside, Anything Is Possible is all about getting dirty. The ad stars Pashon Murray, co-founder of Detroit Dirt, which takes natural waste from around Detroit, composts it into soil and then spreads that around "forgotten parcels" of Detroit to create urban farms. Detroit Dirt gets its bio-waste from a lot of sources, including the Detroit Zoological Society (all that herbivore manure has to go somewhere), Ford and General Motors, but this particular ad was the idea of Ford's PR agency, Team Detroit. It was a frenetic shoot, filmed with an LA-based director right after a big winter storm blew through Detroit, and Murray couldn't be happier with the result. "This was Ford Motor Company pushing my story, letting me tell the story that I believe in," Murray tells AutoblogGreen. "I get to help push this car and I get to tell my story." She says that the Team Detroit and Ford had to agree on the message, "from my understanding, [YouTube] is where they wanted to start, not where they wanted to finish." The ad is already getting a positive response on Twitter, so we won't be surprised if it shows up in more places soon. "It's not saying Ford is better than GM. It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." As Detroit Dirt has off-screen support from both GM and Ford, it's unsurprising to hear Murray say that the video "is not a rivalry thing." She notes that the ad agency Team Detroit came to her and offered to tell the Detroit Dirt story using the framework of the GM ad. "It's a parody on this commercial, but it's not saying Ford is better than GM," she said. "It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." What is that story? It's about urban farming, recovery and recycling. Murray tells us that for the last seven or eight years, she's been dedicated to sustainability.
