1964 Cadillac Deville Convertible

VIN: FW17447

black exterior with black interior and tan convertible top

429 cubic inch engine

3 speed hydromatic transmission

last year for the "finned" cadillac

Here is an excellent driver example of one of the prettiest cadillacs ever made. This car has been enjoyed and now its time for you to get thumps up cruising down the road in this american classic.

Exterior: Shiny glossy paint with little to no imperfections, shows signs of filler but no rust issues. Floors, trunk and lower rockers are solid. Chrome is original with some signs of etching and pitting but overall good shape with exception of passenger lower front bumper

Convertible:Brand new canvas, lines, hydralic cylinders, well liner; it does still need a rubber seal kit to make it fully weatherproof but it has been sitting indoors so no issues

Drivetrain: This car sports the first year of the 429 cubic inch engine, it runs and drives great with no issues. The transmission shifts properly. The front end and shocks are in good condition. The car does not wander and it surprisingly easy to handle for its size and age.

Interior: Interior is usable, but would probably be a first order of business. While floors, carpet and dash show nicely, the age has cought up with the door panels and seats. They show cracking and brittleness.

This 1964 has been featured as a promotional vehicle for a local performing arts center and their ballet troup. Below is the link:

This car was also featured in the music groups' "Outasight" music video "Now or never" where the lead singer drives the vehicle prominently. Below is the link for that video:

You can also see that this vehicle was used in the Newport News woman's fashion catalog as a backdrop if you look through the pictures in my posting.

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.

Cadillac considering more radical ATS-V

Tue, May 5 2015

Cadillac is stepping up its performance game with the launch of the new ATS-V and CTS-V, but it's not about to rest on the laurels it removed from its own badge. While it's tipped to launch additional V models in the future, the latest word is Caddy could also come out with an even more extreme version of the ATS-V in the near future. According to Car and Driver, the prospect is on the table: "We might have something down the road that is a little bit more aggressive," chief engineer Dave Leone said, while another source pegged its potential arrival for 2017. It's too early to say what would constitute the more extreme model. The magazine points toward the Mercedes-AMG Black Series as an example. Jaguar took a similarly extreme approach with the XKR-S GT, as BMW has with the M3 GTS. As it is, the ATS-V is offered in both coupe and sedan variants with a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 464 horsepower channeled to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual. Cadillac reportedly considered employing a dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, but went the old-school route to avoid excess weight and (no doubt) cost.
