Pristine 2005 Cadillac CTS-V with 28k Miles

This CTS-V has been babied it's entire life.  It is as close to brand new as a 2005 with 28k miles could be.  I traded my 2010 CTS-V for it when I found it because it had very similar miles and was half the price.  Sure it's lacking a few of the 2010's features like cooled Recaro seats and a supercharger, but it is by no means half the car.  Being a generation 2 owner I can tell you that this car will not disappoint!  It's still very quick and handles great with room to comfortably seat the family.

It looks like new and gets compliments everywhere it goes.  There are no issues whatsoever.  No leaks, noises, nothing.  It has never been abused in any way.  I bought a warranty for it and only had to bring it in once for a window switch.  It has been religiously maintained and has always had Mobil 1 synthetic in it.  It has never been in any accidents and has a perfectly clean Carfax and Autocheck history.

It is a 6 speed manual with every option available including navigation, Bose sound system, heated seats, a sunroof, etc...  It's completely stock except for a Corsa Touring exhaust, a K&N intake, blacked out corner lenses, and 35% tint all the way around.  All modifications were done professionally and within the last 2000 miles.  All of the original parts come with it as well if you'd like them.

I don't drive this car as much as I should so I decided it's time to get rid of it for a new toy.  I am extremely particular about the V.  It has never been in rain or snow, I warm it up for at least five minutes before driving it every time, and I even turn the AC compressor off and the heat on before putting it away to keep any condensation out of the AC.

The car is nearly perfect inside and out.  There is a small ding on the passenger door (I tried my best to show it in the picture).  The two driver's side wheels have minor curb rash (also in the pictures) and there is a little bit of corrosion near the valve stem on one as well.  There are tiny rock chips on the front bumper from normal everyday driving.  None of this is noticeable unless your looking for it and is hardly worth noting, but I would rather over describe the car than have any surprises.  It is like new on the inside and couldn't possibly be any cleaner.  The tires have good tread left as well.

I cannot stress how nice this car is.  It runs and drives just like new and looks amazing.  It's extremely clean inside and out, top and bottom.  It needs nothing and will make someone a unique, fun, and reliable car for years to come.

Included is a clean NE title, 2 keys and 2 fobs, the stock exhaust, intake, and corner lenses, all the original manuals, books, and even the official Cadillac Post-it notes.  The reserve price is slightly over $20k.  Please call me anytime if you have questions.  The car is also for sale locally.  My feedback is 100% so bid with confidence, you will not be disappointed!

Junkyard Gem: 1981 Cadillac Eldorado with V8-6-4 engine

Sun, Aug 18 2019

Skyrocketing fuel prices caused by geopolitical events in 1973 and 1979 led to gas lines, federal fuel economy requirements, and an increasing reluctance on the part of American car shoppers to buy big, thirsty Detroit luxury machines. General Motors had pulled off some amazing technological feats in the past — the small-block Chevrolet V8 engine and Hydramatic transmission being two extraordinarily successful ones — and so Cadillac's bosses figured that a combination of computer wizardry and clever mechanical engineering would give the 368-cubic-inch Cadillac V8 a cylinder-deactivation system and resulting superior fuel economy. Here's a very rare example of one of those 1981 Cadillacs, found in a California self-service wrecking yard. The idea behind the V8-6-4 was that computer-controlled solenoids would physically disengage the rocker arms for one or two cylinders on each engine bank under low-load conditions, converting the engine from a 368-cube V8 to a 276ci V6 or 184ci V4 (that's 6.0, 4.5 or 3.0 liters, respectively, for the metric-system aficionados among us). This sort of variable-displacement magic is commonplace today, but it was science-fiction stuff in 1981. An "MPG Sentinel" display on the dash would let the driver know how many cylinders were active at the moment, and the car would get Chevy Citation fuel economy with Cadillac luxury. The V8-6-4 was the standard engine in all 1981 Cadillacs (except for the Seville, which had the troubled Oldsmobile diesel engine as the base powerplant and the V8-6-4 as an option). Unfortunately, the V8-6-4 worked about as well as the Oldsmobile diesel: very poorly. Within a few years, most owners of these engines had disconnected the rocker-deactivation solenoids and just drove their cars as regular full-time V8s. This one has the snazzy "Cabriolet Roof Treatment" option, which boasted "textured elk grain" vinyl and could be had in one of 17 available colors. Front-wheel drive gave the early-1980s Eldorado plenty of interior space, despite its more proletarian Olds Toronado origins, and these velour-covered seats made for very comfortable road trips. The price tag started at $17,550, or about $51,650 in 2019 dollars. The 1981 Imperial went for $18,311, and that car was based on the same platform as the lowly Plymouth Volare. Meanwhile, A BMW 733i cost $28,945 and a new Toyota Cressida a mere $11,599. The 1981 Cadillacs were just a little too much ahead of their time, it turned out.

2014 Cadillac CTS images leak from somewhere

Sun, 24 Mar 2013

The redesigned 2014 Cadillac CTS will be unveiled this Tuesday on the eve of the New York Auto Show, but as often happens, some images of the car have leaked onto the web a few days early. Previously, the only information we had on the 2014 CTS concerned the all-new twin-turbo V6 engine that will be found underhood, rated at 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
While none show the new car in its entirety, the images do show much of the front end, particularly the headlights that feature vertical bars of LEDs that start down low as foglights and continue up to the top of the front fenders. They're similar to the lighting design first shown on the XTS and ATS, except the lower portions are much taller.
There are also views of the rear end and one of the taillights, as well as an interior shot of the front passenger door. The latter image has us most intrigued, as it shows some very high end materials being used in the new CTS interior. The low-gloss wood trim, in particular, looks very premium.

Cadillac to launch Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology in two years [w/video]

Sun, 07 Sep 2014

We all know that self-driving cars are coming. It's not so much a question of If so much as When. And when it comes to General Motors products, we now have something of a date to work with, as Cadillac has announced plans to roll out what it is calling Super Cruise technology in an unnamed new model within the next two years. As you would expect, this new tech can speed the car up, slow it down and keep it in its intended lane, but GM isn't expected to release a fully self-driving car, saying that it will still require "an attentive driver."
We're not quite sure what new model Cadillac will use to launch this new technology, but our best guess would be its upcoming LTS sedan. Other possibilities may include a new crossover - we've heard rumors of CUVS coming from Caddy both above and below the current SRX - or entry-level sedan, but those seem less likely than a high-dollar flagship like the LTS.
The next techy bit of kit currently being shown off by Cadillac engineers includes vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, technology which would seemingly allow cars to travel in close proximity to one another, with less danger of collisions. According to our friends at Engadget, GM is working with the University of Michigan to outfit some 120 miles of roads in and around Detroit, MI, with the requisite sensors to make all this technology possible.
