THE NORTHSTAR 32 VALVE V-8 ENGINE IS NEARLY AS CLEAN AS THE DAY IT LEFT THE SHOWROOM. NO LEAKS IN THE MOTOR NOR THE TRANSMISSION. OIL AND TRANNY FLUID CHANGED. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM THE ESTATE OF A 96 YEAR YOUNG LADY WHO MOVED INTO A NURSING HOME. FOR WHATEVER REASON SHE HAD IT REPAINTED BLACK FROM THE ORIGINAL GOLD. AND SINCE SHE WAS 96 YEAR YOUNG SHE HAD A BIT OF A PROBLEM ENTERING OR EXITING HER GARAGE. PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS SHOWING THE SCRATCHES ON THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER, WHEEL WELL AND BUMPER AND THE LEFT FRONT BUMPER. THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND BACK SEAT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS NEVER BEEN SAT IN. FRONT LEATHER BUCKETS HAVE CLEANED UP QUITE WELL. THERE IS SOME VERY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE CONSOLE LEATHER. LOOKS LIKE TWO SMALL AREAS THAT MIGHT HAVE HAD GLUE STUCK TO IT AND REMOVED. CARPETS AND MATS LOOK GOOD. (ONLY ONE MAT IN THE REAR.) I JUST REPLACED THE TIE ROD ENDS AND HAD FOUR CONTINENTAL TIRES PUT ON IT. (85,000 MILE TIRES FROM CARx.) WHY SHE HAD IT REPAINTED IS BEYOND ME BUT I HAVEN'T FOUND ANY MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE SHEET METAL. THIS BLACK BEAUTY HAS POWER EVERYTHING AND AS MENTIONED ABOVE THE ONLY THING WRONG THAT I'VE FOUND IS THE DRIVER SIDE REMOTE MIRROR DOESN'T ADJUST. HAS BOSE SOUND SYSTEM WITH AF/FM STEREO, CASSETTE AND 6 DISC PLAYER. ALL WORK GREAT. TRUNK IS VERY CLEAN BUT I HAVEN'T EXAMINED THE DONUT SPARE TIRE. CRUISE CONTROL WORKS FINE AS DO THE 4 POWER WINDOWS, THE SIX WAY POWER SEATS (WITH UMBRELLA SHELVES UNDER THE TWO FRONT BUCKETS), PDL'S AND EVERYTHING ELSE (BUT THAT MIRROR). A/C BLOWS COLD AND HEATER BLOWS HOT. INDIVIDUAL DRIVER AND PASSENGER CLIMATE CONTROL. WHEN YOU ARE READY TO BID ON THIS FINE AUTOMOBILE PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT ALL OF THE PHOTOS. I HAVE TRIED TO GET THE BEST PHOTOS POSSIBLE ON THE LISTING SO PLEASE, PLEASE BID WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE IN MIND. MOST ALL OF THE SCRATCHES OTHER THAN THOSE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS CAME OUT NICELY. SMALL FOUR INCH BY TWO INCH RUST SPOT FORMING ON RIGHT FRONT HOOD. SEE LAST PHOTO FOR THAT. 2020 Cadillac Escalade spied for the first time
Fri, Dec 14 2018Cadillac is expanding its crossover and SUV range with a new three-row XT6, but that doesn't mean it has forgotten about the one that started it all. As seen in the above photos, the company is testing a new version of the Cadillac Escalade. It's well-covered, but there are a number of details that we can make out. We'll get to what we can see of the design in a bit, but the big news is the suspension. Like the new Tahoe we previously spied, the 2020 Cadillac Escalade will have an independent rear suspension replacing the solid axle set-up that GM's full-size SUVs have always possessed. Its rivals from Ford/Lincoln went independent long ago. We can't underline enough how much of a difference this will make. Handling should be less cumbersome and the ride will be smoother and less prone to jiggling over bumps. It would be improved even further if Cadillac continues to offer magnetically controlled shocks as standard. Inside, the third-row should be positioned lower, thus lowering the current sky-high load height and resulting in a third-row that's actually habitable. In other words, the Escalade won't be so archaic. You can see the visual differences between the new (top) and current (bottom) designs below. Now, as for the design, our best clue to the new Escalade's design is in the grille. The flashy slatted chrome grille of the current model is gone and in its place a more modest mesh grille with little studs pushed to the front. It's very much like the grille found on the new CT6 and XT4. Also, like those two vehicles, the headlights appear to have more horizontal elements than the very vertical examples on the current Escalade. The rest of the SUV is harder to make out. The profile is very similar to the current one, and will surely be shared with the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon models. The rear features new rectangular exhaust tips nestled into the rear bumper. The taillights will likely continue to stretch up the rear pillars. Like the suspension, the Escalade will continue to be generally mechanically the same as the aforementioned Chevy and GMC versions, albeit with the best parts standard. The updated 6.2-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management first introduced on the Silverado and Sierra will likely be the standard engine. It will then be paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission. With the new Navigator so widely impressing in reviews and in sales, this new Cadillac Escalade will have to step it up.
Cadillac to move select offices from Detroit to Manhattan?
Fri, 22 Aug 2014Under Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti moved its headquarters from Yokohama, Japan, to Hong Kong. Now at Cadillac, it appears the company's new president could be planning a relocation of at least some of the brand's operations from Detroit to Manhattan, according to a new report from Reuters.
In the case of Infiniti, de Nysschen pushed for the move because moving away from the brand's Nissan overlords would allow it a bit more freedom. It's evidently a similar case for Cadillac, with Reuters speculating that such a move would help distance the brand from the corporate culture in Detroit. A Big Apple move could also attract new talent that may have considered a job with the brand but were put off by the idea of living in Detroit.
It's important to note that if such a move takes place, it likely won't affect the folks actually responsible for developing the brand's vehicles. Instead, administrative functions, including marketing, could be the focus of the relocation.
GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning
Sat, Feb 2 2019According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.
