No Reserve - Nice Coupe Deville, 425 V8, Red On Red, Not 1977 1978 1980 Lincoln on 2040-cars

Nice, Fully Loaded 1979 Cadillac Coupe Deville up for auction with NO RESERVE 114k, 425 V8. Options include split bench power seat, tilt and telescoping wheel, "Guidematic" auto headlights with auto dimming, cruise control, remote trunk release with power pulldown and the standard power windows, power steering and power brakes. I bought the Caddy from the original owner, the Caddy still has the original paperwork, brochure and owner's manual. From Wikipedia: "Because of their limited production and extravagant styling, the later 70's Coupe Devilles are increasingly sought after by collectors." Mechanical: The previous owner obsessively maintained it until he stopped driving and the Caddy sat in his garage for a couple of years before I bought it. Over the two years the Caddy got front end work, new exhaust, new alternator, shocks as well as various maintenance items. The climate control has a switch under the dash to turn the fan on, otherwise the controls for heat/defrost/ac work as normal. The a/c could use a charge of R12 if available or a retrofit to modern freon. The power steering hose has developed a slow leak, I add fluid periodically. I may have it repaired depending on how much the Caddy sells for. The driver's seat needs a new switch and the power antenna needs to be put up and down by hand. The previous owner installed a modern AM/FM CD stereo with an Ipod jack. The power windows work well and the car is quiet inside when the windows are up on the highway. Cosmetics: The car got new paint in the 90's as well as a full replacement set of bumper and fender fillers. There is some minor bubbling where the vinyl meets the rear fender on the passenger side, only visible up close. The original carpet is still in good shape. The door panels, rear panels dashboard / dash display, headliner and visors are in good original condition. The leather has some cracking and small tears as seen in the pix, there are matched red leather look seat covers on them now. The Caddy has never been hit or had any kind of body repair and the chrome shines nicely. The floors, trunk and frame are all solid. She's never been out in the winter, she's always been a "Garage Queen". The engine starts easily even after sitting for weeks and the garage floor is always dry when I pull the car out. The 425 V8 is nice and powerful, it moves this old girl up the highway with ease. It shifts smoothly, cruises nicely on the highway and the suspension is silky smooth over the roughest roads. The front disc brakes stop the car quickly. On the highway she'll get 13-15 MPG, pretty good for a 70's luxury cruiser. The directional/brake/turn signal/headlights/brights work properly, as well as the wipers and the the external three color fender indicators (lights, brights and turn signal). Drives overall like an American classic luxury cruiser should. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. Any questions feel free to email or call 914-224-3230 |

Cadillac ELR update delayed over autonomous drive systems issues
Fri, Nov 28 2014Rumors had been circulating that the 2016 Cadillac ELR would bow in Los Angeles recently, featuring, in Cadillac's own words, "engineering enhancements." The rumors and that quote are as far as it got – the updated ELR pulled a no-show in LA, and no one outside of the brand appears to know when it will appear. GM Inside News says its sources at Cadillac pinned the ELR's absence on some autonomous driving features not being ready to reveal. According to GMI, Cadillac insiders say the upgraded ELR will be a "highly autonomous vehicle," and the company needs more time to gets its systems polished. The site says "it's not unreasonable to assume that ELR will be [the] vehicle" that gets Cadillac's Super Cruise technology, but that seems a lot more involved than "engineering enhancements," and in September Cadillac said we'd see it sometime in the next two years. It's possible the wait for the 2016 ELR and its secrets might only be a couple of months: the next-generation Chevrolet Volt, which shares a platform with the ELR and whose engineering updates we know quite a bit about, is scheduled to appear at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January.
If Cadillac’s smart, the CT5 will be a CTS without baggage
Fri, Jul 28 2017Cadillac is, mercifully, about to rationalize its lineup, something that's been a long time coming. The CTS is one of those cars that gets admiration from reviewers, like us, for a concerted effort from GM to engineer an underlying platform that matches the Germans in terms of raw dynamics. From buyers, it gets not even a shrug as they, oblivious to its existence, walk right into BMW and Mercedes dealerships. The reasons for this have a lot to do with the sheer brand recognition, and the image, of the German competitors. You can't really lay that all at GM's feet, but what you can do is critique the uninspired drivetrain selection. The 3.6-liter V6 is a crude implement, making its 335 horsepower roughly. The BMW's equivalent inline six makes its power smoothly, with modern forced induction. There's no directly comparable E-Class sedan until you get into the V-Sport versus E43 situation, but the turbo four is smooth. And the interior? No question. The Mercedes is jaw-slacking. The story for the CTS's turbo four is largely the same. Some blame also has to be leveled at the first- and second-generation CTS sedans, which adopted an odd strategy: sell a slightly larger sedan to folks looking at 3-Series, A4, and C-Class, but at about the same price. Folks weren't interested in a larger car for the same money. Despite the third-gen CTS's growth into the 5-Series size class, the CTS still seems like an odd in-betweener in the sport luxury segment – psychologically, if not physically. CTS sales are in the toilet in 2017, and GM is smart to shake things up. So with the announcement that Cadillac head honcho Johan de Nysschen has finally been allowed to kill off underperforming models, the CTS is toast. (As is the ATS, and much more importantly, the XTS – a shambling dinosaur of a sedan.) What's next is the CT5, and that's what we're interested in now. Cadillac has until 2019 to figure out what the CT5 actually is. That isn't a lot of time, so our money is on it being a repositioned, rationalized CTS. The platform's not bad; it's heavier than the larger CT6, but it's fairly modern. Sadly, it's unlikely that any of the standard powertrain options will get a revamp, but maybe some additional sound deadening or an active engine mount system to reduce NVH will quell the V6's bad habits. View 32 Photos More importantly, Cadillac will get a chance to work on the interior look, almost certainly aligning it more closely with the much improved CT6. That'll help a lot.
GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR.
