Nice 1972 Caddy Eldo Convertible Up for Auction with NO RESERVE - Very Low Miles, One Owner, Original Title 42k documented original miles, 500 V8. I've got a huge folder of all the service records since the car was new as well as the original Florida title from 1972 and two huge shop manuals as well as the owner's manual and all the paperwork that came with the Caddy (build sheet, list of options, etc) when it was purchased in 1972. I'm the second owner, I bought it from the original owner down in Florida and had it shipped up here last spring. It's only been up here in New York for a little over six months, she's a Florida Caddy with working air conditioning retrofitted to modern freon. Mechanical: Many new front end parts in 2008 including axles, bearings, bushings, sway bar links, ball joints, and more. If you've had a 70's Eldorado you know how the front end wears out, considering it's a front wheel drive vehicle with a 500 V8 sitting on top of it. Caddy handles like new now, the front end is nice and tight, no wandering. New exhaust system from engine back in 2009, done right with Walker muffler and all welded pipes, Caddy runs nice and quiet. Other work over the last decade or so includes new front disc brake calipers, rotors and hoses, new radiator and alternator. The Eldo has always been immaculately maintained as seen in the included folder of service records. The only things I've done since I've had her is Monroe air shocks in the rear, KYB gas adjustable front shocks as well as a full tuneup including belts and hoses, oil change and coolant flush. Cosmetic: The Eldo has always been in a garage so the floors, trunk, frame and body are solid. The body is very straight, no accidents ever. The Caddy wears her original paint which still shines up nicely as seen in the pix. The interior is nice, no rips on seats, power seat works, one small crack on the right side of the dash (about an inch, not visible in the pix), door panels and rear panels good, the rug has been replaced at some point. The top is good, no rips, goes up and down easily. Power windows work well. The convertible top replaced in 2000, top goes up and down easily with the push of a button, no help necessary. The windows could use new weatherstripping. The chrome bumpers and brightwork are in great shape, light fading on the top part of rear bumper. The interior is a blue/green color, it looks more blue in the pix. The boot cover is in great shape, snaps on easily. When you look at, get into and drive this car it's clear that's she's always been treated with love and has spent her life as a "Garage Queen". She's roadworthy, all directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work, even the cool multi-color fender indicators. Engine always starts easily, even after sitting for a month or two. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly, 8.2 liter V8 moves this big girl easily up the highway with LOTS of power. The Caddy tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly and the suspension is luxurious. The Eldo is almost spotless underneath; floors and trunk completely solid, body never patched, she's never seen NY winters so she's pretty clean overall. No leaks, garage floor always dry when I take her out. Overall, drives like an American classic luxury car should. I'm selling a couple of my Caddies due to finances and I hope to find good homes for them. I had not planned on selling the Eldo as I've always loved the early 70's models for the style and the high compression 500 V8 engine, it's rated at 400 HP. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. If you need it I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used many times in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. This is a NO RESERVE auction, top bidder gets her! Nice classic Caddy which will only appreciate in value! Any questions feel free to call or email. 914-224-3230 |

2017 Cadillac XT5 cuts weight, adds room over SRX [UPDATE]
Mon, Nov 9 2015UPDATE: This post has been updated with a full set of official photos. Impressions on the interior and exterior have also been added. The attention of Cadillac fans may be focused on the new CT6 sedan, but the most important new vehicle in the New York-based company's quiver might be the all-new XT5. Cadillac officially unveiled the SRX replacement today ahead of its full debut in Los Angeles next week. Short for Crossover Touring 5, the new XT5 drops 278 pounds over the old SRX, while offering an extra 3.2 inches of interior space. The XT5's face balances the best parts of the Escalade and CT6's fascias, with a strong egg-crate grille and prominent LED accent lights. It looks good scaled to a vehicle of this size. The taillights curve up and over the rear haunches, which feed into a strong shoulder line that runs towards the front of the car. It's a solid look, and one we're looking forward to seeing in person. The interior looks very, very nice, with warm leather and wood trimmings. The steering wheel, with its large, central wood accent, looks remarkably good. In fact, it might be one of our favor parts, if only because it's such a bold piece of design. We aren't crazy about the sheer abundance of buttons on the wheel, though. All four spokes are covered, and it just looks kind of cluttered. As is the trend nowadays, the center console features a floating bridge design with plenty of storage space underneath. Our early impression of the leather-wrapped dash is positive, although as is so often the case, we need to get a hands on before rendering a final judgment. There are no major surprises under the hood. Like the current SRX, the XT5 utilizes the same 3.6-liter V6 as the CTS and ATS sedans. Start/stop has been fitted, which should provide a boost in fuel economy although no mileage figures have been published yet. Cadillac will also offer a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder XT5, although for reasons that aren't clear, it's only for the Chinese market. This seems like a misstep in our eyes, considering the XT5 will challenge the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLC – all of which offer four-cylinder turbos. With the V6, the XT5 delivers 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. While there's more total horsepower than the Lexus, Audi, or BMW, the 3.6 still faces a torque deficiency versus the turbocharged X3 xDrive35i or supercharged Audi V6. The XT5 has a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
Cadillac partners with Saks Fifth Avenue for limited-edition ELR
Fri, 08 Nov 2013There's no softening the blow with this one - this is the limited edition 2014 Cadillac ELR Saks Fifth Avenue Edition, and it costs $89,500, including $995 for destination. The special model, limited to just 100 units, is part of a holiday season collaboration between Cadillac and luxury retailer Saks Fifth Avenue. In addition to the ELR, there will also be a special "Frozen Escalade" window display at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store near Rockefeller Center in New York City, which will feature the 2015 Escalade with functioning LED running lamps that, as the automaker says, "appear embedded and breaking through a wall of ice."
But back to that ELR. This Saks edition plug-in hybrid coupe commands a surcharge of $14,500 over the $75,000 base model that over 85-percent of Autoblog readers polled already feel is overpriced. For that extra coin, you get an ELR wearing exclusive (to this car) White Diamond paint matched with either a jet black or light cashmere interior. Buyers will also receive an upgraded 240-volt charging station complete with professional installation, and the cars come with Cadillac's ELR Concierge service - representatives "trained in white-glove customer care" that serve as an additional point of contact beyond the dealership when it comes to topics like like battery care, charging, service scheduling and news updates.
Folks who order the Saks Fifth Avenue ELR are expected to receive their cars in March of next year. Price aside, we're sure it'll look great parked alongside the Neiman Marcus Aston Martin Vanquish Volante in owners' garages. Scroll down for Cadillac's official press blast.
40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax
Thu, 24 Jul 2014
The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
