The engine swap was an ordeal as they shipped a vin Y engine. which has 275 horse power instead of the 300 hp I really cannot tell the difference I drove it both ways and this engine will fly and on take off it is no problem, and they tell me this is the cruising engine and is a better built due to the less horse power they do not blow like the vin9 does. check it out to satisfy yourself. they are the same engine except intake valves as I understand and the transmission computer. It was changed to match. The paint crack is in the groove just above the back window on the top. It has a little wind noise as it is a 98 hardtop. the ac is charged but I do not know how well it works as it is not summer in Missouri we don't need it for 2 more months but it is charged and does work.417/880-1335 As stated before it has a prior salvage title. The wood trim has some minor cracking in the finish and the defroster on the dash is curled out. what I thought I would do is get a dash protector for the dash then it would look more correct and keep the dash from cracking in the sun. I love the looks but I just cannot get in and out of it eassy. I fall in and have to push up on the door opening to get out, it is just not worth the effort. My wife hates the big doors as everything else we own is a 4 door and they work so much better with small grandkids. this has a small hitch for towing but no trailer wires, the date on camera is off these are new pictures after a rain the paint is in great shape, pics are not good bad camera that eats batteries so fast that you do not set date stamp.

Cadillac CTS wins 2014 Motor Trend Car of the Year [w/video]

For the second time, the Cadillac CTS has been named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. After winning the COTY crown for 2008, the new-for-2014 CTS outdid the other two finalists for Car of the Year honors, the Mazda3 and its corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
What's notable about the Caddy's victory, though, is how it simply brushed off its competition. Both the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series failed to make the finalist's bracket, leaving the CTS to claim victory. "It had to beat [Mercedes and BMW] on style, on performance, on comfort, and on quality. It has," Motor Trend said in its COTY recap for the CTS.
The team at Motor Trend praised the CTS chassis, calling it "fantastic," and citing weight advantage the Caddy has over the competition. There was also praise heaped on the car's engines, with the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder getting nods of approval from the MT team. The team also raved about the VSport model and its twin-turbocharged V6, magnetic shocks and other performance accoutrements.

Cadillac launching crossover-heavy product offensive

Utilizing information provided by Cadillac suppliers, Reuters says that Cadillac is preparing two more crossovers that will bow after its current product initiative is complete. According to the report, a year after the next SRX arrives in 2016, a pair of CUVs will be unveiled that will bracket it in size, and they'll be headed for the US and Chinese markets.
That is years away, though. For now, the company's attentions are on the nearly here CTS and ELR range-extended coupe, the next Escalade SUV (shown above), an ATS coupe, and the range-topper that will sit above the XTS. That, and possibly an even more impressive range-topper that promises to be the mean and majestic super-luxe unicorn Cadillac we've been dreaming about for more than a decade now.
In response to the issue of how German crossovers might be having an impact on Cadillac's future plans, a company source said - rightly, we think - "we don't need to duplicate the Germans." That doesn't mean, however, that it can't wade deeper into a market segment that the Germans are making a ton of money in. In fact, and since everyone is doing it, we'd be surprised if Cadillac didn't, even if it won't happen for another four years.
