1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. Last year for the full size Eldorado.

Probably one of the nicest example ever to hit ebay. This is really a buying opportunity. This car has been kept in a temperature controlled environment, as part of a collection. I rarely ever sell a car from my collection, but another opportunity has become available and space being an issue ( you can't ever have enough) I've decided to sell it. I am not a car dealer, nor do I buy cars with the intent to just turn them. I had looked long and hard before finding this one. The car has 11,258 original very well documented miles, as records of the state inspection were kept, and will remain with the car. Everything works and performs as it should. I've included lots of pictures from just about every conceivable angle in order to show the cars condition, even a shot of the carburetor. I've taken close up pictures of the factory pin stripes, which show the factory connection where the two stripes meet which are actually one piece, in order to show that it's all original paint under them, with the exception of the plastic filler ends, which have been replaced. The glass is in perfect condition, no scratches. I welcome by appointment anyone that wants to view the car in person. This car was also featured in a hard cover book about Cadillacs, and it represents the 1978 model year. I've included pictures of the car in the book as well as the photograph that was taken at the time, in order to prove it's legitimacy. If you're looking for a super nice example for your collection, this is the car. There is no rust anywhere on this car, not even in the normal known locations, and the reason is because of how it has been stored. The # 1 thing to consider as it reflects everything about the car. When I purchased this Cadillac, the original tires were still on the car, but because of their age, the tires were starting to show signs that would not be safe to drive, and since I wanted to take the car to local car shows, I decided it was better to replace them.  When the original tires were removed, I took that opportunity to have the factory wheels ash blasted and re-coated with the proper black tone. The new tires are the proper size Vogue White Wall Yellow Stripe as seen in the pictures. Tires still show the nipple strands from production as they have hardly any miles on them.  Included with the car are all the rare factory books with samples of interior and exterior options, these books are rare and are highly collectible and have sold for hundreds of dollars in this condition. Also included are the original Cadillac keys given out by the dealer at the time of the original purchase and still in it's original packet. The owners manual as well as all the other booklets are still in excellent condition and will remain with the car.

The term you get what you pay for applies here, those that are hard core collectors know this better than anyone else.

The picture were taken about a week ago, and nothing including the engine compartment has been all dolled up just for the pictures. You're looking at the car pretty much the way that I got it.

The pictures were taken with the eye of a real collector (me) with plenty of automotive background and history knowledge. The pictures were also taken so that you could see what I would be looking for, when I'm on the hunt for a super nice car. Condition of rubber and seals in general, and in this cars case in exceptional condition. The reflection side shot, tells a lot about the side panels, your looking for abnormal distorted reflections, this car has none. The body lines and the joints, the chrome including all moldings, the wheel wells, the door jams. Interior you're looking at the molding, dash, door panels for any signs of unusual wear or warpness for the mileage and the stated condition of the car, you want to make sure it matches. If it sounds like I'm way too picky, I am, I've been told by other car enthusiast like myself this many times, but hey, cars have always been a big part of my life.

Note: The car is not from Montana as the license plate would have you believe, but when I saw that plate on ebay, I couldn't pass on the opportunity to buy it for this car.

If you have any questions about this car please feel free to ask.

2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing First Drive Review | Peak oil

Tue, Aug 10 2021

We may have embraced the coming of electrification. We may love a good, high-performance hybrid or EV. We could quite frankly not care less how a car makes power, so long as the end result is satisfactory. But man, nothing suits a big, square-shouldered American sedan quite like a V8. Question our commitment to Mother Gaia if you must, but the blat of a small block is the bass line in the song of American speed. And now onstage for the V8's farewell tour is the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, a midsize, manual-transmission luxury sedan that comes out swinging with a hand-built, supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. The CT4-V Blackwing may be great in its own right, but it's still down a pair of cylinders. The old Cadillac CTS-V (S not 5) was never the slimmest, sharpest or most luxurious sport sedan money could buy, but it always offered excellent performance for its price. It was also one of the few midsize manual transmission holdouts, at least until the third-generation V model debuted in 2016; for its brief run, it was offered only with the eight-speed automatic. Its spirit lives on in the CT5-V Blackwing, but Cadillac refined the formula significantly for its transition to the updated Alpha platform. The manual is back, it gained 28 horsepower and 29 pound-feet of torque, and the aerodynamics and braking were completely overhauled for this, the final iteration of the V8-powered Cadillac sport sedan. Apart from the larger footprint and all that comes with it, most of the Blackwing formula carries over almost unchanged to the CT5-V from its smaller CT4-V sibling. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard with a 10-speed auto available as an upgrade (which it truly is, in some ways). The electronically controlled mechanical limited slip differential, fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control and various other tweaks made their way here too, but there are a few noteworthy deviations. Let’s start where the CT5-V stops: the brakes. Since the larger, heavier CT5 needs more braking capacity, its wheels grew an inch in diameter to accommodate a bigger set of stoppers. The wheels are wider too, the better to fit its Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in 275/35ZR19 (front) and 305/30ZR19 (rear) – 20 mm wider up front and 30 mm wider out back than the 18-inch tires on the smaller CT4-V Blackwing. Exclusive to the CT5 is a carbon-ceramic brake package that reduces unsprung mass by 53 pounds and rotating mass by 62 pounds.

GM may kill 6 car models as it works with UAW to tackle sales slump

Fri, Jul 21 2017

The president of the United Auto Workers union said on Thursday the union is talking with General Motors about the potential threat to plants and jobs from slumping U.S. car sales. GM's response will be more trucks and SUVs, and sources say at least six slow-selling car models may be killed off. "We are talking to (GM) right now about the products that they currently have" at underused car plants such as Hamtramck in Michigan and Lordstown in Ohio, and whether they might be replaced with newer, more popular vehicles such as crossovers, Dennis Williams told reporters. "We are tracking it (and) we are addressing it," Williams added. GM has cut shifts at several U.S. plants this year as inventories of unsold cars have ballooned. Industry analysts said more jobs could be at risk as the automaker wrestles with permanently shrinking production of small and midsized sedans. GM is reviewing whether to cancel at least six passenger cars in the U.S. market after 2020, including the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, which could be replaced in 2022 with a new gasoline-electric crossover model, Reuters has learned from people familiar with the plans. Other GM cars at risk include the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Sonic, sources said. Some analysts have singled out GM's Hamtramck plant in Detroit as one of the most vulnerable because of plummeting car sales. The plant, which opened in 1985, builds four slow-selling models: Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala, Cadillac CT6 and Chevrolet Volt. In the first half, it built fewer than 35,000 cars, down 32 percent from the same period in 2016, according to suppliers familiar with GM's U.S. production schedule. The typical GM assembly plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year.COMING ATTRACTIONS: TRUCKS AND SUVS GM must "create some innovative new products" to replace slow-selling sedans "or start closing plants," said Sam Fiorani, vice president of AutoForecast Solutions. The auto maker already has begun to shift future production plans from cars to trucks, according to Morgan Stanley auto analyst John Murphy. He estimates that fewer than 10 percent of the new vehicle models that GM will introduce over the next four years will be passenger cars, with the rest divided among trucks, SUVs and crossovers. GM plans to add production of the new Cadillac XT4 crossover next year to its Malibu sedan plant in Fairfax, Kansas.

Ecto-1 is the barn find of a lifetime in 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife'

Mon, Dec 9 2019

Following the women-led "Ghostbusters" reboot in 2016, a completely new chapter in the franchise will be born in 2020. "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" will feature a fresh cast, a modern story and cutting-edge cinematics. Yet, one thing will remain the same: the famous Ecto-1. The first trailer for the upcoming film shows the classic movie car — a highly modified 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Futura Duplex — still has a little gas in the tank, even after sitting in a barn for more than 30 years. "Afterlife" follows a character played by Finn Wolfhard (Mike from "Stranger Things") as he, his sister and his mom are evicted and move to an inherited farmhouse in Summerville, Oklahoma. The property, previously owned by the kids' grandfather, turns out to be a secret storage facility for all of the old Ghostbusters gear. Grandpa was Dr. Egon Spengler. The research, the uniforms, the ghost traps and the Ecto-1 are all tucked away and out of sight. Trevor, Wolfhard's character, finds the automotive relic and is able to start the old box of bolts. He and his sister Phoebe are then seen careening the Ecto-1 through a field and testing out the car's gunner seat in town.  Paul Rudd enters the picture as Mr. Grooberson, a teacher at the kids' school who shows an interest in Phoebe's ghost trap. As somebody who remembers the Manhattan Crossrip well, Grooberson schools the kids on the past and, with them, explores their connection to it all.  The trailer closes with a Bill Murray quote from the original film: "Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma ... I believe that everything happens for a reason." He, along with Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver, are expected to have some sort of involvement in the new movie, though it's unclear what that will be. We'll find out more next year when "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" opens summer 2020. P.S. How about that Ford Ranchero GT?
