Up for auction is my 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. I will first list all the small issues with this car:

The cruise control does not work
The clock does not work
The rear passenger window works but needs a little help to stay in line
there is a crack on the upper and lower dash
the drivers seat back has a small rip
the rotating cadillac symbol that covers the trunk lock is missing
it could use some new weather stripping on the A pillar
The cadillac script is missing on the front hood so are the small chrome pieces on the bottom of the front extentions
There appears to be a hole in the floor above the catalytic converter that was patched from the inside. (see pics)
And it needs a new muffler.

Not bad for a car that is 37 years old. I have not tried to fix any of these issues so i'm not sure how easy or hard it would be to fix. The previous owner cut a trim piece on the dash to install a cd player, I have tracked down and purchased a new trim piece along with an 8 track radio with CB  that was an option in 76 I will include these with the car. The car shows under 68000 miles which I've been told are original. I purchased this car from the son of the first owner. It runs and drives great, there are no mechanical issues that I am aware of. We have taken this car on numerous road trips and it never gave us any problems. The car was painted about 5 years ago, during that time some rust was cut out of the rear quarters and new metal welded in. The original color was green but was repainted a slightly lighter shade. The wheels were also painted to match the car. The paint has no chips or major scratches. During the painting process some over spray hit the vynal top but most of it is covered by the trim. There is a small scratch on the front extention near the hood (see pics). The trunk and trunk lid are solid, there appears to be a rubberized lining on the floor of the trunk perhaps to prevent rust or noise. This same material is on the undercarriage and except for the hole that was patched on the floor there appears to be only surface rust on some parts of the undercarriage typical of a car this age. I have tried to be honest and list any and all issues I am aware of on this car, however this is no replacement for you own inspection which can be arranged if you are in the area. Car runs and drives great but is sold as is. If you are the winning bidder a $500 no refundable deposit via pay pal is due within 24 hours of auctions end. With balance paid in cash at pick up. I reserve the right to end auction early as car is for sale locally. The reserve is lower then what I have invested in this car, but it needs to see because I need the garage space. If you have any questions please ask. Thank you and good luck.

GM recalls nearly 340,000 large SUVs to fix daytime running lights

Thu, Nov 10 2022

General Motors has initiated a recall campaign for more than 338,000 of its large SUVs to address a potential defect in the onboard computer software that controls the daytime running lights. In some cases, the DRLs may remain on even when the headlights are enabled, which creates additional glare for oncoming drivers at night and fails to comply with federal regulations for headlight performance.  "GM determined that the body control module (BCM) software in these vehicles, under a combination of certain pre-conditions, may fail to deactivate the DRLs when the headlamps are on," GM's recall report said. "A regulatory assessment was conducted to evaluate whether the condition presented a potential noncompliance with the DRL activation requirements in S7.10.5, Table I-a. of FMVSS 108. On October 27, 2022, GM’s Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a recall for potential noncompliance with this standard." GM says the recall covers the 2021 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. The company says all models produced within that operating window include the improperly programmed body control module, meaning all vehicles within the recall population may exhibit the problem. The issue was discovered by a GM engineer during validation testing in August, prompting a deeper investigation and eventually leading to the recall itself.   The module's software can be updated by GM dealers, so it should be a quick fix for customers. Notifications will be mailed to owners in December.  Related video: Recalls Cadillac Chevrolet GMC Ownership Safety SUV Luxury

Cadillac CT6 shows its face in 2015 Oscars ad [w/video]

Mon, Feb 23 2015

Have you been watching the 2015 Oscars? No? Then you've missed your very first look at Cadillac's long-awaited flagship, the imaginatively named CT6. Don't worry folks, we've got the entire spot, titled The Daring: No Regrets, available below. Marking the start of the new Dare Greatly campaign, the 60-second spot will be joined by three others during the Oscars' broadcast, and features a number of unconventional luminaries from the worlds of fashion, finance, technology and film, contrasting their common beginnings with their exceptional accomplishments. It's a powerful spot... and then the CT6 arrives. Asking "How dare a 112-year-old carmaker reinvent itself," a white CT6 is spotted (viewed through what looks like a bad Instagram filter) cruising slowly down a New York (we assume) street. The car itself is big and wide – properly American and Cadillac in its proportions – and features a very handsome evolution of the latest CTS' styling, with a new take on the brand's distinctive headlight and grille design. Have a look at the photo above, watch the ad and let us know what you think of both the commercial and the car that stars in it, down in Comments.

Seventies super-salesman challenges new car-sales record

Wed, Feb 21 2018

Some of the fondest memories from my youth were the Sunday afternoons spent walking between rows of new and used cars. This preceded the advent of widely available internet, so the cars didn't sell themselves online: A tentative buyer had to come see the cars in the metal, with old-school salesmen taking well-earned smoke breaks after putting someone behind the wheel of a new Saab 900. All-inclusive subscription services were unheard of. If you open a Guinness records book and look up car salesmen, you'll find Joe Girard. The definitely old-school Detroit salesman regularly sold over 1,000 new cars per year, with a particular high point of 1,425 cars in 1973 guaranteeing him a mention in the Guinness book. To reach that kind of sales figure, you had to be a pretty special salesman, and Girard was. He didn't take breaks unless absolutely necessary, and even his lunch hours were dedicated to selling more cars instead of shooting the breeze with other sales persons. By 1977 he was worn through, having sold over 13,000 cars in his career, and his physique couldn't take it anymore. He's been a motivational speaker since. Now, 44 years later, a Dearborn, Mich., Cadillac and Chevrolet salesman named Ali Reda has reportedly broken Girard's record. The books at Les Stanford Chevrolet Cadillac say Reda sold 1,530 new cars and 52 used cars in 2017, averaging 130 vehicles per month. But after Girard, 89, heard of the sales record, he called his attorney, not letting his record be broken without a fight — or at least an audit. The Dearborn dealer isn't too concerned about Girard's doubts, at least according to Gary Stanford, whose father founded the dealership. "It's very official, trust me," said Stanford to the Detroit Free Press. "Ali is the hardest worker I've ever seen. And if someone doesn't believe the data, well, they're more than welcome to consult with GM. It's all there in black and white." What Girard doesn't get is that Reda was honoring him with the accomplishment. "I read his book, 'How to Sell Anything to Anybody,' and it said it would teach you how to become the best," said Reda, who at age 44 was a newborn when Girard hit his peak. "He's an absolute legend in the industry. Your whole career, you're chasing his name.
