Beautiful 1968 Cadillac Deville Convertible No Reserve!!!! on 2040-cars

Up for auction is a 1968 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. I have owned this car since 2010 and have done my best to baby it and get her back in the shape she deserves to be in. It has sat with a cover on it in a garage for the past 3 years; I probably only put about 35 miles on it. Unfortunately I have to part ways with it, but that's good luck for you!
The paint is in fantastic shape for the most part; there is minimal chipping and zero bubbling. This car is 90% rust free. There are a few tiny spots on the body, a few on the undercarriage, and some in the engine bay. The right exhaust pipe has a hole in it. I was planning on running a straight pipe back to replace it but clearly never got around to it. I have pictures to detail any and all flaws. The red carpet is the original carpet and is in great condition. The interior is custom red and white leather and looks absolutely beautiful. There is a small slice in the drivers seat, and a piece of trim has come loose on the drivers side door. Again, reference the pictures to see everything. I just replaced the battery a few days ago. The engine cranks over every time with no hesitation. The top has a few small tears in it that could probably be patched no problem. The previous owner had speaker wire running throughout the vehicle. Me not knowing enough about the wiring of a 68' Deville left that in place. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to remove. He also added a new head unit which you can see under the dash. I kept that because it was nice to plug my iPhone into. It leaks a bit of oil, and a bit of power steering fluid. I started it up last weekend after sitting for a year and it fired right up. The transmission was working perfectly before I stored it, but when I started it up it hesitated a bit. My mechanic told me this was due to a clogged filter because it was just sitting around not being run. This spectacular car is 90% done. I'm leaving the last 10% up to the next owner. If you're looking for a classic car that barely needs any work, you've found it here. Also, I have the original 1968 hubcaps for the DeVille in the trunk of the car. The original owners manual and extra fuses are in the glove box. There are also the correct wheel studs I purchased (the previous owner didn't have the right hardware) but did not put on that are in the car as well. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions you may have as I would be happy to answer them!! Thanks for looking and good luck! |

Johan responds to critics again about Cadillac's NY move
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Cadillac's new President Johan de Nysschen has faced a fair amount of criticism since assuming his position at the head of the American luxury manufacturer. From the company's move to New York City to a controversial new naming scheme, the first few months of his tenure have not been smooth sailing. Now, the embattled exec is firing back against his critics, notably Automotive News Editor-in-Chief Keith Crain, in a new column running in AN.
De Nysschen countered Crain's claim that the move to the Big Apple, "can only mean that someone wants to live in New York."
"The relocation decision is entirely unrelated to the personal living preferences of any Cadillac executive. No corporation would tolerate such indulgence by its leadership," de Nysschen wrote. "It is about structurally entrenching a challenge to the status quo by reinforcing the psychological and physical separation in business philosophy between the mainstream brands and GM's luxury brand."
6 luxury car brands to watch in 2024
Tue, Jan 30 20242023 was a healthy year for the auto industry, and even with incentives returning and dealer lots filling up, there's plenty to like about the market if you build luxury automobiles, and we expect 2024 to be more of the same, which makes luxury-segment rivalries all the more interesting. Top luxury car brand rivalries? Well, that sounds downright uncivilized. But we know better, don't we? And when every quarterly sales update is an opportunity to remind somebody else that they bought the wrong status symbol, well, who can resist? Certainly not the diehard customers who fly their favorite brands' banners high. Read more: Auto sales: Industry records best year since 2019 Read more: 2023 auto sales and 2024 preview: Ford Bronco vs. Jeep Wrangler This is a tricky segment to define, but essentially, we're looking at luxury car brands with depth to their portfolios and dealerships that exist to attract real-world customers. The Bentleys, Rolls-Royces and McLarens of the world are luxury cars, certainly, but we're more concerned with brands that have a bit more mass appeal — manufacturers who treat supply constraints as fiascos rather than features. If you disagree with our selections, feel free to let us know in the comments. And since we're mostly concerned with finishing order, the luxury brands and totals featured here may change as new data come in throughout 2024. Due to the wild swings of the past several years, we're treating 2023 as the baseline by which we'll measure sales performance. And rather than rank brands vs. their finishing order in 2022, when supply-chain and inflationary issues still played havoc with sales figures, we're starting 2024 off with a clean slate. The mainstream luxury segment is always a dogfight, but with their varied approaches to electrification all of the major luxury brands are in the midst of reshaping the premium landscape. Who is doing it right? Well, according to U.S. shoppers, the usual suspects are up to their old tricks.
Reuss says Cadillac CT6-based Buick could happen
Wed, Apr 15 2015Could the upcoming Cadillac CT6 and its Omega platform spawn a Buick variant? According to General Motors' product chief Mark Reuss, it could potentially be in the cards, but "not yet." "We're working on that," Reuss told Automotive News at the 2015 New York Auto Show. While there hasn't been a large, rear-drive Buick on dealerships since the Roadmaster in 1996, the company gave a big hint that it could head in that direction with the Avenir Concept, shown earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show. As Automotive News explains, a rear-drive Omega-platform Buick could be a real hit in China, where consumers buy 13 Buicks for every one Cadillac. That move would be a big help to GM's bottom line, too, as it'd significantly increase the Omega platform's economy of scale. If a large Buick based on the CT6 were to head to China, though, it likely wouldn't be a simple case of badge engineering (thank God). Reuss hinted to Automotive News that while the mixed-material construction of the CT6 platform "is very flexible," doing an "identical version of that platform or not is a different conversation." What are your thoughts? Should Buick adopt the Omega platform for an Avenir-based sedan? Should that vehicle be sold here in the US, or should it be a China-only offering? Have your say in Comments.
